Elisabeth Fiorelli
PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR REPORT To: GABRIEL BLACK [break] Subject: Elisabeth Fiorelli [break]
What follows is a series of information gathered across crisp, clean files from a private investigator's office. Given the general nature of the inquiry, most of the information has been gathered from public records, several phone calls to Kalosian reporters and journalists, and casual observation. A more in-depth investigation would require further spending, and the due diligence of the investigator at hand has avoided doing anything that might incur fees the councilman is unwilling, as yet, to pay for -- at least without due cause.[break]
Here is what is gleaned from those documents:[break][break]
INFORMATION GAINED[break]FROM HOENN Elisabeth Fiorelli, formerly Elisabeth Bortiforte, is a fair-skinned, blonde, and green-eyed Kalosian woman of age 29 who stands at a height of 5'9". She hails from Camphrier Town, one of the oldest settlements in the region of Kalos, and is from one of its older noble families: the Fiorellis.[break]
At present, she has lived in Hoenn for the past six months at a cottage on the edge of Petalburg Woods, which doubles as her flower shop Fiorelli Floristry. It seems to be a successful small local business, particularly after an opening Palentine's Day promotion that received region-wide interest.[break]
Elisabeth imports many flowers from other regions, but most of her flowers are grown in her greenhouse or in her gardens. Her wares include floral perfumes, flower-infused desserts and teas, artisanal soaps, and a wide assortment of floristry wares.[break]
ana fell is her sole human employee, with the rest being Pokemon. [break]
Neighbors have little to complain about regarding her, noting that Elisabeth attends local Petalburg events as a shop vendor often and supports the community. She is an ambitious and hardworking woman, who can be seen working early hours at the break of dawn, and the days that she takes off her regularly scheduled work are so infrequent as to be shocking when they do occur. Nights are more mixed, with Elisabeth often returning to her cottage at late hours, or spending the entirety of her evenings alone.[break]
Rarely are her visitors social in nature; most who enter her shop appear to be genuine customers. Her personality is considered polite and pleasant, if distant, and not lending itself to many genuine connections.[break]
She lives alone, appears both unmarried and unattached romantically, and seems to have no familial ties in the region.[break][break]
INFORMATION GAINED[break]FROM KALOS
The Fiorellis Known for the winery and vineyard on the outskirts of Camphrier Town, the Fiorellis were a minor noble house located in the countryside, making them less influential than their peers in Lumiose City and elsewhere. Elisabeth was an only child to parents Francis and Georgiana Fiorelli. The latter was well-known in the region for her watercolour paintings and her work is considered of particular value to several private collectors interested in Kalosian art. Around the age of Elisabeth's late adolescence, the Fiorellis began to struggle financially as her father's health declined and the market became flooded with competition from other regions.[break]
The Bortifortes Elisabeth Fiorelli married fellow member of the Kalosian nobility Édouard Bortiforte approximately a decade ago; reports suggest mixed reception to the pair, given that Elisabeth was nineteen at the age of marriage and her husband was ten years her senior at the age of twenty-nine. Some say it was a love match. Others say that Elisabeth sought Bortiforte for his wealth, and he married her in order to have a young, moldable bride.[break]
Bortiforte Industries The Bortifortes were a larger and wealthier family than the Fiorellis, and known for its shift into the modern era of nobility through their corporation, Bortiforte Industries. The focus of this corporation was security and asset management, particularly in the containment and tracking of powerful Pokémon with cutting-edge technology, and particularly in the military sector.[break]
Many believed in time, this company would become Kalos's answer to the Stones and Silphs of the world. Former employees of Bortiforte Industries report he was a CEO of mercurial moods and black temper, but of a brilliant and calculating intellect that pushed the industry to new heights.[break]
Education Elisabeth herself began, but did not complete, coursework at a Kalosian university; she was enrolled to begin studies in Botany & Plant Physiology, but was absent from multiple classes and ultimately did not receive her degree.[break]
Public Perception For most of her marriage, she appears to have vanished from public view entirely, save for a few appearances at large events where she rarely was seen absent from her spouse.[break]
The single exception to this is a news story that circulated about three to five years ago, in which Elisabeth Bortiforte spoke to a reporter at a Kalosian news outlet regarding a sense of being trapped in her marriage. The interpretation of the article is that she was an example of the failing class of nobility in Kalos, and how naïve and uneducated women of wealth could bend and break due to the modern social pressures of being a CEO's wife.[break]
It was, in essence, a blistering critique of the noble traditions in Kalos, and a suggestion that they were literally shackling the innovators seeking to break Kalos free of such backwards thinking.[break]
This seems to have colored the perception of many individuals towards Elisabeth, viewing her as mentally and emotionally fragile, and portraying her husband as a suffering martyr attempting to bring a new age of technology to a region mired in tradition, despite handling a difficult and troubled home life caused by such stringent customs.[break]
Fiorelli Death and Inheritance Francis and Georgiana Fiorelli both passed away shortly after this news story broke, and Elisabeth was notably absent from their funerals, presumably due to concerns about her mental health. Shortly afterwards, the Fiorelli estate was transformed into a satellite site for Bortiforte Industries. This was received poorly by the locals, who viewed the estate as a local historical treasure, and many believe the decision to have been made by Elisabeth herself. She is not well regarded there as a result.[break]
Bortiforte Death and Inheritance Within the past year, Édouard Bortiforte died a shockingly young death at the tender age of thirty-nine. A slow sickness had consumed him, finally at last resulting in him passing away in his sleep. Elisabeth inherited the Bortiforte estate as well as the entirety of Bortiforte Industries, becoming the new chairwoman of the company. This rocked the technological landscape of Kalos significantly.[break]
In a wildly unpopular move, Elisabeth's first act as chairwoman was to dissolve the company entirely, selling bits and pieces of the umbrella corporation to competitors across Kalos and other regions. While there are many companies who benefited from this, one example from Hoenn that stands out was the company belonging to one Merrick Prescott (father of Summer Atreides ). Many agree that the more financially lucrative option for Elisabeth would have been to run the company herself, or to sell it to another in its entirety, suggesting her motives were not monetary.[break]
Elisabeth likewise set fire to the manor that had served as the Bortiforte's ancestral home, then sold the empty land to the highest bidder at a significantly reduced price than it would have been, had the manor remained intact.[break]
Several more lurid news outlets have posited the notion, based on this, that Elisabeth may have killed Édouard Bortiforte herself. No evidence of foul play has ever been confirmed, but her reputation has suffered as a result.[break]
Elisabeth left the region for Hoenn shortly after settling her husband's posthumous affairs.[break]
