"hello, my favorite minor leaguer."

kyle enters the facility without much notice outside of a last minute call.

as he steps in, he quickly looks around, trying to spot the gym leader. there wasn't much to hide on, given that kyle already knows the ins and outs of the building from previous relationships built with the last gym leader that used it.

as soon as he spots him, he gets an epiphany. "oh, wait. you're not alone on the roster anymore so i can't say that now. keep it a secret, yeah?"

he shrugs before he gets on with the program.

"you're still sponsored by rotomtv, right?" he inquires. his own rotom flies out from his pocket, possessing his phone.

he takes the phone from the air and shakes the rotom free from it. it eventually gets released from its possession, where it would buzz around kyle's shoulder.

"nah, i have enough exposure as it is." for someone of his caliber, he's surprisingly only known by less people than those that know gym leaders. he considers that a win. "i'm looking for new electronics for my rotom."

kyle's eyes start to dart around the room as he walks forward, surveying each corner for something that might catch his eye.

"you got one of those drones that the company develops?"

they're popular among battle enthusiasts and are becoming more commonplace in gym settings according to the internet. hoenn's kind of backwater, so it wouldn't be surprising to see it lagging behind, but maybe cian is different.

cian is different but only because of his connection to the late champion and rustboro gym leader.[break][break]

he pulls out his phone, navigating through to find an app. a tap of a button summons a drone to pop out from the side of the wall a bit away from them. it buzzes over, floating above.[break][break]

"i got a few more but i think you only need one. if it breaks, you gotta tell ana yourself."[break][break]

his eyes watch the drone fly out of the wall. he shoos his rotom towards the direction of the drone, wherein the electric-type zooms quick to posses it.

"oh, pog."

with his phone, he captures a picture of his new rotom drone. it's his now. it's been given with permission.

the only reason he wanted one was to get aerial views of his dogs while they're running by the beach. very cinematic and popular on short-form video hosting apps like jingjok.

"alex still owes me for leaving the region without telling me. just tell her to take it from his life insurance or something."

taking the phone back to his pocket after getting a good one, he turns back to cian.

"yeah, just one. thanks. do you use these for your battles too?"

kyle peers over his phone, not because he's nosey, but because he wants to make sure he gets to the right profile when he does type it out.

"poochyboys. one word. that's the one for my dogs."

most of his pokemon share that account, mixed with short videos of both their daily lives and any casual or professional battles. it's mostly casual though, since he doesn't want to look unprofessional in front of security cameras.

realizing that not everyone follows the pet account first, he gives another option.

"if you want my personal one, it's klopez. rolls off the tongue once you get used to it."

a perk for being the champion of a region was that it gives the moderators of famous social media sites a reason for his account to get that little blue checkmark beside his name. he was a representative of the government in some ways, after all.

the rotom, now in its drone home, flies near kyle.

"oh yeah, how about a quick match to test this out?" he grabs the rotom drone and gently nudges it back up in the air. "you get to have your face on an account of someone with a verified account. that's kind of pog, right?"
