The Fiery Path of Mt. Chimney is not a place she visited particularly often. But she figured she would give it a gander today. Reasons for coming here? Well, the same reason as any other trainer. She had noticed a peculiar hole in her team composition, primarily the absence of fire types safe two. She figured rectifying this would do her well.

And so she walked the rocky paths clad in casual clothes appropriate for the occasion.

Following right behind her was an Azumarill, it waddled leisurely, looking upon all the sights that were there to be seen, which were mainly rocks. But still, they were pretty cool rocks.

it doesn't take Elinor Anderson long to come upon gabriel.

a behemoth of a man, standing easily as tall and as wide as most large pokemon, he stands idly off to the side in an observational manner. a number of pyroar lie around him, a small, but growing pride, while a whole group of typhlosion and their previous evolutions lounge about on the caves other end.

it'd seem to any on-looker that a good deal of his 'team' was here today, enjoying their 'off-time'.

that is until the impact rings off the cavern walls.

a charizard and tyrantrum in the middle of a spar, chunks of debris and cracked foundations all around them. the impact from before seems to be the dinosaur getting swept off it's feet, the psuedo-dragon in what could only be described as a half-crouch, waiting nearby.

upon elinor's arrival, gabriel's voice calls out evenly.

the battle ends as quickly as it began, and the councilman turns to the councilwoman.

The surprise on Elinor’s face was quite evident when she stumbled upon the goliath better known as GABRIEL BLACK. She hadn’t even considered the idea that she might stumble upon another council member. But perhaps that wasn’t so outlandish.

With a quick gaze did she notice that he was together with what she could only assume was his Pokémon? It seemed they had been doing some sort of training. Though it came to a halt the moment she arrived, perhaps even because of her.

She gave Gabriel an acknowledging nod. “And your presence is a pleasant surprise to me as well.” While she wouldn’t admit it, she found the prospect of the man a bit intimidating. Though she chalked that up to size difference.

“Aatos, you know what we are looking for.” She gestured for the Azumarill to continue searching the area.

With a quick Salute, the Azumarill went on its way.

“What brings you to these parts?” She allowed her eyes to move to the group of Pokémon gathered here. While she had her guesses, she figured letting Gabriel answer was the better choice.

Meanwhile, the Azumarill searched far and wide until he fell upon a Snoozing Magmar. Though he felt bad for the poor thing. He had his orders and would comply with them to the best of his ability. With a cascade of HYDRO PUMPS did he attack the Magmar. What few EMBER the Magmar got to sputter, meant little against his THICK FAT.

And so, before long the Magmar laid defeated upon the ground. The Azumarill then began to drag it back to Elinor, who was the sole carrier of Pokéballs.

elinor's presence captures the attention of precocious few from gabriel's horde. namely a large pyroar, female from the looks of her, who lifts her head up lazily as she yawns, settling a listless gaze onto the small woman. then, as if uninterested, it plops back down to the cave floor.

"training," answers gabriel, half turning his body as if to survey his scattered lot, "the excursion into the other reality was an eye-opening one. if i am to stand next to men and women who call themselves a god's herald, i must be able to keep up."

it was a grim, difficult revelation. one he'd paid for in blood, sweat, and tears — and an arm.

tyrantrum's heavy footfalls shake the cavern slightly as it reaches a small pokemon and plop, consumes it entirely.

Elinor noticed the lack of reactions amongst Gabriel’s Pokémon. She was honestly a bit relieved. She found Gabriel’s intimidating presence more than enough.

Elinor gave the boulder of a man an acknowledging nod. “It seems our reasons for being here are quite similar,” Elinor stated. “I noticed a severe lack of fire types among my crew, and figured I would rectify that.”

And as if summoned the Azumarill appeared by Elinor’s side, dragging with it the unconscious body of a Magmar. “Azuuu.” It proclaimed as it plopped the body by its trainer’s side. It gave her one more salute and then waltzed off searching for more fiery Pokémon. Elinor wasted no time and threw a Pokéball at the Magmar capturing it in the process.

Alas while Azumarill had been lucky once, its luck was quick to run out. Rather than being the hunter, it became the hunted. Ambushed by a Simisear once it was out of view.

Gluttonous in its hunger, did it fall upon the Thicc Azumarill with a FURY SWIPES. But Azumarill was not so easily discouraged. Wanting to turn the tide of battle quickly, the Azumarill summoned all of its SUPERPOWER and threw the monkey off.

The Azumarill didn’t give the Simisear time to recover. It quickly jumped onto the monkey, just as it had done previously. And then point blank shot HYDRO PUMP until the Simisear was knocked out. It would then proudly begin to drag the unconscious body towards its trainer, taking no great precautionary care.

the magmars limp form does not go unnoticed by a single creature in the chamber. most write it off as inconsequential, gabriel, included, though some do have a gleam of hunger twinkling in their eyes.

Elinor notices the twinkling eyes of hungry predators as she quickly scoops the knocked-out Magmar into its new home. She places the sphere securely in her pocket and returns her attention to Gabriel.

Now, what could he possibly mean by that? The question/statement was a noteworthy one. Since she had already stated she had come here to rectify the lack of Fire types among her Pokémon. Perhaps he was speaking of something more arbitrary.

“I do?” She replies with a curious grin, perhaps even a playful tone to her voice. “Something besides Fire-type Pokémon?” She continued.

And as if on cue the Azumarill reappeared dragging with it yet another unconscious body, which bumped against every rock on the road. It offered the victim to its trainer, then gave her a salute once more. But before he left the group this time, he noticed all the predatory Pokémon. Ever a kind soul, it gave them all a short greeting wave, as if this was the first time he saw them before waddling off again.

This time it took longer for him to find a wild fire type. Perhaps they were growing weary of him. But alas, this the faint waft of SMOG, the feint prints of paws upon the ground, all lead him towards a Flareon. This one did not intend to fight. For it had already been in one. Clearly wounded, scratch marks several places upon its body. It growled at approaching Azumarill but was too weak to put up a fight.

While the Flareon expected to be beaten by the approaching water type, that was not what happened. Instead, the Azumarill took the fire type upon what could best be described as its shoulders and began to carry it to its trainer, for surely she would provide relief for the Pokémon.

"more or less," he says in the same even tone, not rising to meet her playfulness. he slowly turns his attention to the sound of claws scraping rock, finding an ekans has gotten the unfortunate fate of being a plaything for his pyroar. each time it looks like it breaks free, the lion reminds it of its place quickly.

apathetic to the snake's temporary fate - he'll capture it later, if it survives - he returns a glance back to the councilwoman. two of them, alone, here in the center of mt. chimney. what were the odds?

Gabriel didn’t rise to her playfulness. While she hadn’t expected him to, it did make him seem a bit lacking in personality. But perhaps he was simply shy. She knew some people put on facades when that was the case. Not one to back down, she would stay within his presence, watching as the Pyroar seemed to find something to play with.

But the way they played with it. She wanted to intervene, they were being cruel. But she halted herself, figuring that might lead to a fight. And she wasn’t certain she came equipped to take on a fellow council person.

Luckily her Azumarill returned to her, pulling her attention away for a moment as it came carrying a beaten and broken Flareon. It gently placed it by her feet, allowing Elinor to kneel and examine it. Scratch marks, clear use of excessive force. For a moment her gaze returned to the Pyroar, but then she realized a Flareon wouldn’t be getting out of that Pyroar flock alive, much less in this condition. Luckily she always carried a bottle of POTION upon her for just such occasions.

She gently applied the remedy to the wounds before nudging a Pokéball against the Flareon. Capturing it in the most gentle way she could.

Azumarill looked for a moment on its trainer before pointing out into the wilds. She gave it a nod and it waddled on its way.

“Well, with an invitation like that, I can hardly say no, can I?” Again she replied playfully. She would surely get through to him.

And while Elinor was accepting an invitation into the Pyroar’s Den, Azumarill waddled around until he stumbled upon a Magician of sorts. It offered to do a Magic show. Thrilled at the prospect of some entertainment, the Azumarill agreed.

The Delphox began to perform tricks, playing with fire from its magical stick, chanting fiery words of luck, and even telling Azumarill’s future. After the show, the Delphox proclaimed that it would take its leave to find another audience. But then Azumarill suggested that it could find permanent employment with Elinor.

The Delphox considered it for a moment and then nodded in agreement with the condition that it would have to see this ‘Elinor’ first.

despite the acceptance of his invitation, or perhaps in due to it, he sweeps an arm in the direction of the large male pyroar nearby.

"you should approach that one there. his name is aurum and he is the leader of this pride. he's got a bit of an ego, which makes him a bit testy, but you should be fine. just don't look him in the eye, but also don't bend your spine. once he gives you the a-OK the others will make sure nothing happens to you."

it was unconventional, and probably more than Elinor Anderson asked for, but, that was the typical situation when you were around GABRIEL BLACK. this would grant her, at best, temporary immunity with the pride of lions. in-truth, it was probably the safest place in this mountain to be.
