Standing on the battlefield as the victor after her bout with @atticus, the former beast ignored the cries from the crowd around her as she stared down at her hands. That whole fight, while taken seriously by Serena, was still just a lie at the end of the day. It was the difference between a lion and a cub. Would this even serve to properly indicate how much Serena had grown in the past year?[break][break]

Serena's frown deepened. She feared she already knew it would not. [break][break]

"Well done." the deep voice of her mentor pierces through internal musings and startles her. Whipping around with wide eyes she stares back at Gavin with a questioning gaze. She figured he might be around but she wasn't sure. Gavin didn't give her much time to think to question him about anything before he continued. "But can you challenge me?"[break][break]

Serena's crimson gaze narrowed as she immediately withdrew back a bit and took a defensive stance. If she knew anything about her mentor then it would be that he wasn't really asking. Serena suddenly felt her stomach flip as a chilling bit of nervousness settled in. She had been wanting to measure how much she'd improved but battling against an underboss hadn't been what she had in mind. [break][break]

Then again, if anyone was going to serve as proper practice for her inevitable bout with Katherine it would be Gavin and the rest of Rocket's leadership. Serena's forehead creased as her frown deepened, a clear sign she was overthinking. Serena knew damn well she wouldn't be beating her mentor. This would be a game of endurance. How long could she last?[break][break]

Gavin sends out his Tyranitar, it's roar deafening and it's very weight sending tremors through the ground. A familiar dark cloud envelops as MIASMA swirls and a DARK SANDSTREAM consumes the battle field. Pleased that it seemed they would be getting another fight so soon the crowd roars in excitement and bloodlust but Serena pays them no mind. [break][break]

Serena reaches for a pokeball and calls out her Silicobra just as Gavin's Tyranitar readies a STONE EDGE and cracks the ground as shards of rock rush towards them. Silicobra doesn't have time to dodge or counter instead eating the attack to the face. Serena clenches her jaw as she casts a quick glance to him. She was sure he'd be alright, but that didn't to relieve her of the pressure she felt from her sudden challenge with her mentor. [break][break]

"Fight back." Serena orders her Silicobra as it rises once more defiantly. It's body begins to glow golden as it begins to channel is counter attack. As it's body glows the ground beneath them begins to tremble and crack. The cracks too have a golden hue as they rush towards Gavin's Tyranitar with a fierce EARTH POWER as the sand snake's response.
