Things had been more lively lately. Ever since he found that Nidorino in the dumpster outside his apartment, it was one after another. A Rotom who took his phone, and of course the gift. The other Grookey.

Sitting on his shoulders, two very similar chimps would be speaking in chimplish. Bongo, his trusted friend of many a year, who was talking up a storm to the new girl, a shiny Grookey he named Conga. Conga and Bongo. And ever since they had come in, it had been more or less nightmarish. At first, anyways. Ashley was at least crafty.

After attaching monkey bars over the top of the apartment, not only did the two chimps love their addition, but even Bullet liked perching. Sure, he wouldn't get his deposit back after Conga and Bongo started a fire, but if he wasn't, they'd just deal with there now being a whole thing of monkey bars.

As Ashley moves to pet the other of the trio coming with, the pink quadrapedal beast looked up towards Ash and gave a squint.

The chimps were talking shop.

Ashley holds his watch out. "Alright. He should be here. Soon. We got a mission today, ladies and gents. Let's find that Pichu."

One high-five for Conga, one for Bongo, and a poison point to the palm for Reinhardt. All he needed now, was Isaac! And... a bandage. For his hand. That was bleeding a little. Reinhardt looks apologetic, and Ashley waves it off. He'd be okay. Probably.

Wait, what? When did he get here? Apparently, he'd come skidding up to the group right when Ash turned to high five his primate pals. The Totodile just left his trainer in the dust so he could say hi to all of his best friends. Honestly, he knew Isaac would never blame him for it. After all, he was always just as happy to see Ash![break][break]

The little croc stopped in his tracks when he saw the blood on Ash's hand, however. Oh. That wouldn't make for a good high five at all. He opened his jaws, a little gurgle building up in the back of his throat as he prepared to power wash that pesky problem right off of his buddy's hand-

"Hey, whoa whoa whoa whoa!" Isaac called, the gurgling stopping on cue. "Cool your jets, Watson. Not every problem needs a Hydro Pump. Now, c'mon. What's up?" Upon pointing to Ash's reddened hand, Isaac put two and two together. He tossed Watson a little towel from his backpack, the Totodile hitting it with a few swipes of his Aqua Tail to get it all nice and moistened. Once done, he toddled up to hand it to Ash. Such a polite young Pokemon![break][break]

"Made sure to show up fashionably on-time and everything," Isaac said, an easy grin on his face. "Though clearly, you've already been diving into danger without me. How rude." It was a testament to Isaac's guile and comppsure that he could say that with a straight face.[break][break]

As Watson ran over to greet the chimps, Isaac simply put out a fist for Ash to bump. "It's great to see you in good spirits, man," he said. "So, what's the plan?"

Another high five from the surprise gator. The crowd chitters and cheers, with Bongo and Conga practically hopping in place. Ashley was laughing at his excitement, and knowing that, Isaac wasn't far behind... though the almost Hydro Pump had Reinhardt nearly football kick the gator.

Isaac came in, scoped the situation, and had a solution. The towel over his hand now, Ashley tied it down, and looks to the dejected Nidorino. "Reinhardt, it's okay. Really."

With eyes over to Isaac now, the two share their customary fist bump, as Ash laughs. "Oh you know me, I like the danger. The hole in my arm is proof to that." He makes light of it, knowing that making jokes over it allows him to tackle that little Carvanha-sized problem headfirst, even if a ton of therapy might be needed.

Taking a second to absorb it all in, he finally responds. "Likewise. Suns been nice today." With his own grin, he finally chimes in on the plan. "Pretty simple. Place is a powerplant, right? Electric types come here often. We'll scope out the area, and look for any Pokemon in need. Think of it like... a Pokemon rescue shelter."

Now THAT was an idea for the books.

[attr="class","skullbody"]Awww, that poor Nidorino looked so bummed. Isaac stooped down next to it, slowly but surely holding out a hand to make sure it was okay. "Hey, hey, you're good," he said, giving the Nidorino a gentle scratch behind the ears if it allowed him too. "Ash knows ya didn't mean it. If anything, he's probably proud of how tough those barbs are!"[break][break]

Hopefully, it was just the barbed part that Ash was on the receiving end of![break][break]

"You've got that right. Tons of electric types come here for the free power, then end up getting tangled up and lost in here," Isaac said. Debates raged as to whether they should just make the place an electric type sanctuary or to keep giving the intervening Pokemon the boot. Some said it was a blow to human-Pokemon coexistence and a threat to the surrounding ecosystem. Others said it was pest control on an area that was a magnet for invasive species.[break][break]

Ash seemed to walk the middle ground. If any lost, listless electric types showed around here, he'd give them a helping hand and a ticket out. Especially if those electric types happened to be Raichu. It was a good way to go about things.[break][break]

"Sounds like a plan," Isaac said, that winning smile right back on his face. "You take point, I'll hang back and make sure the brain trust here doesn't start chewing on wires."

Reinhardt was a bab, and truly he didn't mean it. The way the Nidorino's eyes watered as Isaac gave him those very polite head scritches told Isaac everything he needed to know. The way the mammal responds is precious.

Giving a nod to Isaac, the plan was simple; they were essentially playing rescue rangers today. Especially since, you know, the League can't do this kind of thing and be everywhere at once.

As Isaac confirms and holds back, Ash would put his hands into his pocket. And just as Isaac noted he'd hang back, Bongo was about to stick his branch into an open outlet. A great start for the Brain Trust. Ashley even makes a comment as he looks around. "That is a shockingly accurate name for them. All three of them."

Conga's cheeks inflate, as she tries to whap Ashley, and he chuckles. "Hey. I'm not wrong am I?"

All he could find on the outskirts of the plant was a penguin just trotting along, and a metal disc. Taking a sigh, he calls back out. "Nothing yet. These two seem to be minding their own business." the Empoleon eyes him. Ash squints.

"Couldn't find a better name if I tried," he said, laughing warmly. "We gotta be careful, or they'll be running this power plant soon. Just like they started running that taco truck." Great. Now Isaac wanted more tacos. Damnit.[break][break]

There were no electric types yet, unfortunately. Isaac wasn't really looking to catch any Pokemon himself, if he was being honest. He was drowning in the dang things by now. However, he knew Pokemon tended to gather around strong trainers, so being here with Ash boosted both of their chances of finding him a Pichu.[break][break]

Now, if only he knew where to look. This place was like a maze of tunnels, stone, and steel. Finding anything in here was a fools' errand, let alone a lost Pokemon. Should they look for tracks? Charges? Keep an ear out for sounds? There were plenty of options, but none of them seemed quite right.[break][break]

Guess all they could do was keep walking, huh?

Wasn't that the truth? The moment Isaac even mentioned the taco truck, Ashley's stomach rumbles. "Good thing I brought us some sandwiches. We might be here awhile. Got some water too. You never know." They weren't tacos, they weren't spicy, and they most certainly weren't crunchy, but they were every bit as filling. And Ash made'em. Guy was a bona fide house husband sometimes.

By the time Ashley leans down to peek behind some loose wiring, he sees an Electrode inside, and just as the upside-down Pokeball Pokemon glares, Ash backs up.

"... don't go in there."

Bongo and Conga were curious, but Ash gave the two one look, before finally turning to Watson. He was serious with his expression. Those monsters kill!

"You too, buddy. Not losing Bongo's bestie to a boom." He points at Watson like a babysitter, before turning to Isaac. "Electrode. Should expect them to be here in abundance... no dice. Anything on your end?" He asks, casually questioning. They hadn't gotten too deep in yet.

Watson perked up at the mention of food, Ash's words more than enough to distract the croc from the various inedible foods lying around the place; wires, circuit boards, twists of sheet metal, Magnemite . . .[break][break]

He wasn't the only one grateful. Isaac was all smiles at Ash's offer. "Aww, Ash. What would I ever do without you?" he teased, turning up the charm and appreciation to a joking degree. See, who needed taco trucks when you had the #1 house husband's homemade snacks?[break][break]

That said, maybe Isaac spoke a little too soon there. After all, his sentence would've been painfully ironic if that Electrode had been more of a live wire. "Yeah. No. No touching those," Isaac said. "Even if anyone here's spoiling for a fight, those things are way more trouble than they're worth. And I don't think this run down power plant's build to handle anyone getting a bad case of the explosions."[break][break]

That was enough to convince Watson. A lot things were more fun than the grown-ups said they were, but being exploded was not one of them! Instead, he kept by Isaac's wide, scanning the horizon for more electric types.[break][break]

"Not seeing anything electric on my end, either," Isaac said. Instead, his eyes were locked on a Lairon that stalked through the halls. "See a Lairon here, but, nah. There's only room for one of those in my life." Kiryu was a one of a kind gem. The idea of even having another member of her species on his team just felt odd.[break][break]

Oh well. All the more reason to keep looking, right?

Ash takes that in stride, and enjoys being on the receiving end of teasing for once. He makes a snicker, and a shrug. "Idunno, but you sure as shit wouldn't eat like a king, man." He made a sheepish laugh, rolling his shoulders. He felt like hot shit for a second, and takes the teasing all in good fun.

While they easily avoid the Electrode death trap, all Isaac saw was a Lairon, and while Ash was sure Kiryu might like a sister in arms, it wasn't his goal. In fact, Ash in that case preferred a Larvitar, if only so they could show off to each other when it was fully grown.

This time, however, the goal was almost met. A small little Dedenne, trapped in wires and crying out, as Ash stared with worry. Dedenne, being Electric type, wasn't gonna be hurt, but if Ash stuck his hand in all those exposed wires? Well, he better hope that the current didn't hit his heart.

He turns to Isaac. Ash can't let this little mouse die of starvation in here. He pulls one of his seven balls out, and moves to angle himself to hit the Dedenne.

"I gotchu little one. Don't worry." The ball hops upwards, before hitting the metal floor with a thud, and bouncing to bonk the little rodent on the nose.

It wasn't gonna be Jubilee, but... at the very least, it was one save. "That's one. Let's keep going, yeah?"

But when you're in some big tin can under the sea, and you're trying to cater to dozens of grunts at once, you're probably not gonna be winning Iron Chef anytime soon."[break][break]

As Ash tended to a poor, trapped Dedenne, Isaac noticed a Scizor being drawn to the sounds of the struggle. It's claws clacked with a tense interest. Hunger? Isaac's eyes narrowed, Watson's mirroring him to the letter. "Hey. No," he said, Watson's Aqua Tail slamming against a nearby piece of machinery for emphasis.[break][break]
