The city was calm and peaceful, until a time distortion appeared and then disappeared as quickly as it came. As if hunting down a specific person.[break][break]

But instead of the calm that comes after the storm, more people shouting and screaming in the streets.

Bryan was full on raging, calling people drunken slurs and full on destroy parts of the area. "Know your FUCKING place grunts, I'm in CHARGE of you." he said emphasizing that he was a beast for team rocket, beast wolf. [break][break]

"You think you fuckers can beat me?! Try again!" he said smashing the floor with his fist. They tried to shoot him but his wounds just healed as soon as the bullet pierced his body. "That HURT you bastards." he said charging at them and punching the wall behind the grunts. He was unaware that soon, a contender would be entering the ring to stop his drunken rage.

When the underboss had set out to work late into the night, this is not how he had expected things to go. Even if over two months have passed since Necrozma’s attack, an intruder alarm ringing while in his office in the middle of the night causes him to tense up – reminded of the way things were back then and causing him to be wary of what may come.

If this weren’t something the guards can’t handle on their own, they wouldn’t have alerted him like this, and when he asks what is happening over comms, confirmation comes in the form of panic and the word ‘avatar’ being spoken with certainly.

”Fuck me.”
[break][break]
So he dons a mask and goes to the location marked, and what he finds when spying on the scene through his Unown-B’s eye is a truly confusing sight: a drunken man going on a rampage. An incredibly strong drunken man. One that heals even after being shot more than once. Mars knows he’ll have to be careful with this one.

Not a word is said at first. He takes advantage of the element of surprise. With his Unown watching from the skies, it’s easy to pinpoint the exact location in order to appear behind the intruder, and once this is done, he kicks the drunken man to the ground. Heavy hinge handcuffs appear out of thin air, restricting his movement, and from where he stands, the masked underboss looks down upon him.

"Ohhhh. I get it.." he says grinning to himself as Bryan felt the cuffs get tighter. "You just wanna limit test your powers huh? Alright fine, I'm game." he said standing up and putting his arms up and pushing his arms apart to break the cuffs with his super strength. [break][break]

He grinned as he attempted to headbutt mars with his own head. Surely his powers meant he could take a bigger hit now right? Armor might cause some problems for Bryan. Well on top of that, he'd have to land it first since Mars has that tricky little teleporting ability of his and Bryan's super strength only applied to things he could grab or throw...[break][break]

What was the point of this little test? Why now?

There are few things that bother a secretive man more than someone unexpected knowing his secrets, and the amount of knowledge this drunken musclehead seems to have about him is really starting to get on Mars’ nerves. Who the fuck is this guy? How does he know about things that had only been shared with a select few? Why is he acting like Mars’ threats are no more than a joke to him?

He has half the mind to teleport this fucker right into an “interrogation” chamber and beat the truth out of him.
[break][break]
He doesn’t get the time, though.
[break][break]
Drunk and muscles-for-brains as the intruder may be, he is fast, and it’s only the handcuffs breaking that alert him to take a step back. If he hadn’t been on high alert, taking this as the hostile situation it is, he probably wouldn’t have been able to phase out of the headbutt’s way.

”That’s enough.”

It’s the only warning he gives before appearing behind the stranger, and grabbing onto him, Mars teleports him. They go to no interrogation chamber or cell. Instead, they appear at the same spot they were before, except that at least twelve metres up in the air (that’s forty feet for you, Pilo). Up there, Mars let's go, teleporting back to solid ground and letting his opponent fall.

He slammed into the floor, Martin dropped him extremely hard and Bryan wasn't able to reach any trees or his pokeballs in time to save him. [break][break]

A plume of dust rose from the ground as Bryan laid there, a couple of his bones broken as he laid there. "YOU BASTARD THAT HURT." he shouted at him as he groaned. His body wouldn't recover in time if he let it happen passively and Mars once again asked him who he was. "Ok this little joke of yours has gone on long enough. Kinda fucked up you dropped me from so high. I still feel everything you ass" he asked as Bryan's body began to emit a glowing light as his body began to regenerate at an even faster rate as he healed himself back to full health. [break][break]

"Time for my favorite little trick." he said manifesting a ball of light in his hand before flinging it forward as he covered his eyes with his arm instinctively and a flash bang of light attempted to disorient mars as he attempted to rush towards the man tauros style.

”Fuck–” He turns away, but he’s not fast enough to completely block away the light, and disoriented, Mars stumbles back. Unable to get a good look at his surroundings as he is, it’s not as easy for him to teleport out of harm’s way in an instant, and all his mind does is scream at him to protect himself from the oncoming attack.

The steel beam collides with Bryan, being too strong for Bryan to break through without preparing himself before hand for it. [break][break]

The surprise causes him to pull back and he slams right into it. He stumbles backwards, trying to reorient himself as he hears Mars say something peculiar. "Huh?" he says as he's even more confused, but this time his ability to remove status effects starts to kick in even more, filtering out the liquor in his system. [break][break]

"M, what the fuck are you on about? I AM BRYAN." he yells back at him as Xerneas feeling the disturbance and bryan absorbing an increased amount of infinity energy quickly made his appearance. He descends slowly, his front feet touching down as his back ones slowly follow behind, clicking with the white rock flooring of the city. [break][break]

'One's partner is still the man known as Wolf' Xerneas says as the x pupils looked Bryan up and down 'Yet one did not expect....such a sudden change in appearance.. Yet he speaks the truth...'tuesday' One suggests you seek a private shelter to speak as prying eyes and ears are surrounding you both at the moment.' he advises as the Pokémon continues to stare at Bryan, his usually calm demeanor being one conveying an intense confusion.

Bryan in disbelief pulled out his phone and turned the camera on to look at himself. His...his eye was fixed? Not only that, his hair was longer, lighter..he looked more like his father now. "What the FUCK" he said taking his phone and throwing it at the wall nearby, smashing it into a million pieces.

Right there and then, the masked underboss truly lowers his guard for the first time since the beginning of this encounter, listening to the words of the legendary pokémon that he has never had any reason to distrust. It could be some kind of trick, an illusion, yet Mars also knows that no illusion can quite mimic the Life Pokémon’s FAIRY AURA. He’s familiar enough with it to recognize it with ease, and even if he weren’t, all of his gathered Unown would see through such tricks.

But, that leaves one question: what the hell had happened to Bryan?!

Apparently, the Rocket Beast doesn’t know the answer either, and in his confusion about the situation, Mars does not think to link this to the time-space distortion that had appeared recently. By this point, the existence of those has become all too mundane to him.

”I see… You’re right, of course. I’ll take Wolf to my home. Please do follow.” With a polite nod to Xerneas, a gloved hand is placed on the shoulder of the man who is now also much taller than what Mars remembers him to (although thankfully not taller than Mars himself). This contact, simple and minimal as it is, results in both of them vanishing from sight, only to then appear right outside the luxurious beachside home where Mars has spent half his nights ever since his promotion. At a private spot in the beach where no one will bother them.

The Unown scatter, returning to their duties, and one of them, the same Unown-B as before, makes its way to the beachfront just as Xerneas had been asked to.

”Man… What the fuck?” Is what Mars says next, carefully removing his mask and taking a deep breath. "Sorry about the beating and all, but you know, you don't look like... you."

Even if still somewhat skeptical, he does feel rather bad about it all. Bryan is someone he considers a friend, after all.

The teleport is sudden and fast, much like how Bryan so rapidly changed appearances. [break][break]

It seemed like the fates were fickle with his appearance. Why was his eye fixed now? Why did he age up so randomly, did Xerneas's influence correct the eye? He had no idea, he heard mostly white noise during their discussion but it seemed like not even Xerneas was privy for the reason to the change. [break][break]

He doesn't respond to Mars when the man offers his apologies for beating him up. He didn't care, his body would heal, it always did. He had thought himself immune to aging so why did he suddenly look older? "God DAMN IT" he said suddenly throwing his hands up and slamming them into the sand, causing a plume to consume him. [break][break]

Xerneas doesn't flinch however as he slowly walks over to the situation. He knows why Bryan was upset, Xerneas was supposed to grant eternal life, so why? Why did he look older? "Xerneas, what happen." he said as Bryan spoke through his anger. [break][break]

Xerneas lowered his head, knowing that Bryan's anger was not directed at the pokemon, but at the situation. Xerneas looks over to mars "Well Bryan, as one and you both know. There are many exceptions in not only this world but in many others." he says walking over to look at the ocean. "My abilities do indeed grant you eternal life, but there are forces of nature in this world that not even I can defy. These...Time Distortions, as your people call it are one such phenomenon." he says turning around to look at them both. [break][break]

"One believe that the blessing may have diminished how much you were originally going to wither. It seems your body was very resistant to the change...One surmises you would have aged to...let's say...100 years?" he says seemingly estimating. "but it seems you are now at the young age of 29 instead now." [break][break]

His heart sank, he would've died ONCE more if it wasn't for this blessing of his. "Also, it seems my congratulations are in order Young man." he says shifting his attention towards Martín del Mar . 'It seems Bryan isn't the only one in a rather unique situation, you are adored by the unown? My, quite the development.' [break][break]

The entire time, Bryan was silent. Trying to process it all in it's entirety, what was he supposed to think, what would the others think? Elijah was right...and Priam..? Would priam leave him now? His thoughts swirled around, he wished his drunken state left him more inebriated

If it weren’t for Xerneas, would they have been able to clear this misunderstanding? Probably, but it would have taken time, and he would have likely kept Bryan in a cell while trying to beat the truth out of him. Grim. Then again, apparently, if it weren’t for Xerneas, Bryan would also be a hundred years old right now. He would also be dead, considering the Life Pokémon was the one who gave him the precious immortality he’s always so quick to play with.

”Fuckin’ distortions.” Mars sighs, finding himself terribly glad that nothing like what just happened to Bryan had happened to him when stepping into them. Does the Unown’s protection have anything to do with that, or is it a matter of fate? Or, maybe Dialga had just looked at Bryan and said “fuck you in particular”. Shame. ”Thanks for clarifying, Xerneas. It’s a rather… unfortunate situation.”

He knows that’s putting it mildly.

However, when the Life Pokémon congratulates him, Mars finds himself pausing. Adored by the Unown? Is that what he is? It makes him wonder, but in a way, the fact that Xerneas thinks it to be the a blessing is rather reassuring. He trusts the legendary pokémon’s judgement.

”Thank you. I don’t know if they adore me exactly, but it looks like they at least want to work together.” He admits, and the Unown-B chirps, bouncing lightly in the air.

Still, it’s not like Mars has forgotten that Bryan has a lot to process right now, and so after disappearing for a few seconds, he soon returns with a bottle. Tequila.

”Have a drink, man. You fucking need it. Also, congrats, you’re a year older than me now.”

A small smile adorns Xerneas's mouth. "What a modest young man you are Del Mar." he says as Xerneas sits down next to Bryan. Offering his support for the beast once again.[break][break]

He sits silently, only really acknowledging that Mars was there when he offered the man tequila. "I hope this is all some fucked up drunk dream." he says "But I know it isn't." as he proceeds to try and chug the entire thing. [break][break]

Stopping at about a quarter of the bottle. "This fucking region sucks, why couldn't I live in like. Fucking Paldea or some shit. Could have had a girafaiai and just painted or some fucking snobby shit like that." he says as he lays in the sand. [break][break]

"This is all so fucked."

It really may be the first time.

He too sits next to Bryan, taking a spot on the sand, and when the Beast downs the entire bottle of what is actually pretty damn expensive tequila, he says nothing about it. He has grown used to this. It’s the reason why he had brought tequila to begin with.

”My family is originally from Paldea. Last time I went I was like twelve, though.” No surprise there, with a last name like del Mar. He has never hidden those roots, not even after changing his last name so he wouldn’t be associated with his family’s crimes. ”You should get yourself a Fidough.
