Dark wings cast an equally dark shadow over him when the bird flies overhead: a huge Braviary unlike most others. It’s a strange thought to realise how long it has been since he first met Boreas. How long it has been since the first time he had brought the stubborn bird to the Safari Zone while attempting to bond with it.

A lot has changed since then.

They both have changed.

With a quiet chuckle meant only for himself, Mars walks down the path, knowing that Boreas will alert him if it notices any wild pokémon from up above. After all, the Braviary may just be his most loyal companion.

Just as he had expected, there’s a screech soon enough, and although Mars can’t quite see what Boreas sees when looking at the tall grass nearby, a decision is quickly made while watching the way a breeze ways grass blades.

Not a word is said.

Instead, he whistles, and the bird-of-prey immediately understands his intent – a non-verbal command given. Boreas swoops down, sharp talons extended towards the ground, and in one swift motion, it’s as the pokémon just about to crash down that a flap of his strong wings pushes him up, a Treecko now in its grasp.

The wild grass type struggles and even attacks, but Boreas does not let go, and if anything, it’s clad in MYSTICAL FIRE that its talons tighten their hold.

Mars decides to throw a pokéball for the sole sake of adding the species to his collection.

One down, three to do.

Mars hadn’t expected the next pokémon to appear right away, but sure enough, a Torchic comes running out of the tall grass once Boreas lands. It stops right before the Braviary, staring up at it as if pure awe.

Does it admire Boreas? Does it wish to be like him?
[break][break]
From behind a mask of azure flame, the Braviary’s stare is somehow as cold as the northern winds he had been named after. Huge black wings are spread as if in a display of his size and might, but the Torchic does not back down, puffing up its chest.

Perhaps that’s enough for Boreas to decide he likes this one.
[break][break]
Or, perhaps not, considering that what comes next is a HURRICANE that sends the little bird rolling away.

Mars sighs, deciding to capture this one as well.

A hand brushes over dark feathers, petting the Braviary’s neck, and in return, the huge avian pokémon presses his beak against Mars’ shoulder. Boreas would have never allowed him to do things like these when they first met, but a lot has changed since then.

”Come on, let’s see what else we find.”

With a slight smile, Mars puts away the Safari Ball now containing a Torchic, and as his Braviary takes off once more, he continues walking down the path. A screech soon alerts him to the presence of a Mudkip, but given that he has a few pokémon of its evolution line, the banker decides to let it be and pay it no mind.

The Bagon runs towards Mars. Gotta hand it to the little dragon: it sure has some guts.

Mars hadn’t expected it, and to be honest, at first he’s too stunned to act; unable to do anything other than blink while watching the little dragon run towards him as fast as its stubby legs will allow. It apparently intends to HEADBUTT him.

Of course, Boreas has his back.
[break][break]
A gust of wind suddenly rises, even more powerful than the previous one, and when he spots the first petal, Mars knows he should phase out of the attack’s way. So, he does, avoiding the full force of the SPRINGTIDE STORM. The Bagon isn’t nearly as lucky.

Mars decides to catch it. Maybe later it’ll have some use.

Mars does see the Eevee in the tall grass, recognizing it immediately as such after the one too many visits to the Safari that he’s done in search for the species. After having caught so many of them, he sure as hell doesn’t need any more Eevee.

Boreas, though? Boreas would probably be entertained by chasing some scared little pokémon, so maybe this is a matter of enrichment.

Not like terrifying a wild pokémon is of any significance to Mars when he doesn’t intend to capture it.
[break][break]
And so, he whistles, and in response, the Braviary eagerly swoops down upon the fox.

Mars barely pays it any mind at all.

This is what he had come here to find. No more, no less. Just the Wild Bull Pokémon.

Boreas circles overhead, ready to start a fight, but even though the bird-of-prey is always seeking battle, he does not attack. He waits for Mars’ command. He would have never done as much before, especially when seeing an opponent deemed exciting.

The banker smiles faintly at this thought, and so, he indulges his Braviary.

All he does is whistle once and this in itself serves as command. Boulders begin to fall from the sky, aimed at the Tauros. A ROCK SLIDE materialised by Boreas.
