the effect is immediate. as soon as the fraxure moves a considerable distance away, the haxorus is on her feet. with much effort, she manages to use her tail to balance herself as she rises. her metal plate-like scales clink as she stands and with her gaze on her offspring, freya has a chance to glimpse the wound. 

a patch of her scales have been shorn away. a pokemon with jagged claws had managed to scrape away the armor and dig into the soft skin underneath. now the wound festers, bright red around the edges and oozing yellow fluid. 

they'll have to dig out the infection before placing the salve.

"shit, it's worse than we thought. we may not be able to do this gently after all." she frowns. "do you have anything that could put her under?"

"i do," he confirms, swinging his bag over to reach for a ball. after a moment of rummaging, he finds what he is looking for. a burst of ivory light later, and... nothing appears.

"stay hidden," he orders to the unseen pokemon, and a light snickering can be heard following the command. "on my mark. distract it a bit, if you can - make sure its attention is on you. easier to subdue when it doesn't see it coming."

a gengar emerges from the shadow of the dragon, blasting it with a full-powered HYPNOSIS.

the clicking of a pokeball sets the haxorus on edge. her tail comes swinging hard in freya's direction and she jumps neatly over it, snapping her fingers to keep the riled dragon's attention. the haxorus stomps and freya stumbles, going low so the blades at the side of her face can't readily graze her. 

but her distraction need only last those few precious seconds as greyson's gengar blasts the dragon with a powerful wave of hypnosis. she goes down almost immediately and as soon as she tumbles, freya rips a pokeball from her necklace and throws it. 

one barked order and the dragonair's tail is crackling, thunder wave bringing the rampaging fraxure male to its knees. her lithe body, meanwhile, wraps around the female and brings it to the ground. freya tosses another ball and aeris' twin joins the field to ensure the male stays down. 

"they'll make sure they're subdued. come here. quickly. i need you to lift the leg so i can scrape this gunk off."

he's not a fan of freya morningstar's methods. electricity brings the fraxure's to their knees, and greyson winces at their cries.

"i don't think that was necessary," he says, scolding the former councilwoman. he moves closer, placing his fingers against the plated armor of the dragon.

"i could've put them to sleep too."

freya snorts. they're not unfeeling beasts, by any means, but their cries have more to do with their hatchling nature than any stinging pain.

"they're fine. and i would rather be alert to their movements than wait for a sleeping dragon to snap. i already fear the pain here will wake her," she says, grunting as she joins greyson in lifting the leg. when the wound is visible, she works quickly; the muscles in her arms clench taut, shaking, as she clips some of the fragmented armor away. 

and then she takes a breath as she cuts away the worst of the infected flesh. a few pinches and she's relieved to see it only looks bad. she's generous with the salve she applies and then looks back at greyson. 

"your comfey. can it heal at all? if it can close the skin, we can avoid having to stitch it."
