"Hey!" Gavin's voice cracks like a whip through the quiet. "What'd I say? Drop it."

The werewolf slavers, jaws dripping as it dutifully deposits the Treecko at its masters feet. The lizard is bleeding but breathing, the ragged rise and fall of its chest a reassurance. Gavin nudges it with his toe.

"It had better not die before we're out of here."

He offers it the stasis of a SAFARI BALL.

Torchic pecks insistently at the earth, perhaps in search of Wurmple. Regardless of motive, it's left unsuspecting as Gavin's Lycanroc prowls closer on silent paws.

The bird looks up as Gavin softly clicks his tongue, only to be buried under the weight of a sudden ROCK SLIDE. It stands no more of a chance than the Treecko had, and it takes a minute of the werewolf digging at piled rocks to uncover its prize.

"Back," Gavin orders, then, "Good."

Crouching down, he taps the Torchic with a ball.

A flash of lavender among lily pads catches Gavin's eye.

Is that...? He clicks his tongue.

Mudkip is wiser than its predecessors; Lycanroc's attempt at CLOSE COMBAT is nullified by PROTECT. The werewolf snarls in frustration, sharp fur bristling along his hunched spine. The mud fish is young, however, and untrained, so a MIRROR COAT does nothing to save it from Lycaroc's ROUGH PLAY.

"Gentle. This one is rare."

Grumbling, Lycanroc relinquishes its newfound prey and claws at the dirt.

Another safari ball is tossed.

They're on a roll today, it seems. No sooner has the Mudkip's ball stilled than a rippling growl from Lycanroc alerts Gavin to the presence of another treasure. While not so rare as a 'shiny' variant, Bagon were prized as rare dragon-types.

He clicks his tongue.

The SHEER FORCE of Bagon's ZEN HEADBUTT catch both Gavin and the werewolf off-guard; Lycanroc staggers with a yelp before LASHING OUT in pain and fury. The resolute Bagon remains standing, heavily injured though it was, and this time Gavin doesn't discourage his canine companion from PLAYING ROUGH. They tussle a moment longer until the Lycanroc rights itself, grumbling as it shakes out its fur, an unconscious Bagon at its feet.

As he taps it with a ball, Gavin hears the ding of the Warden's bell.
