on paper, he probably would be. he's a war veteran who has risked his life and defended hoenn on multiple occasions. he's perceived well enough by the public thanks to luka chêne. but out of the current members of the elite four, he probably ranks last.[break][break]

shards of STONE EDGES erupt from the ground to cover the lucario, protecting it against the flames of WILL-O-WISP. and another shoots right up from underneath the sableye, looking to knock it up into the air.[break][break]

The smile that accompanies Katherine's words is anything but innocent. Befitting the Malevolent, it is sinister in nature. Mean and rude. That's usually what MATIAS SILPH gets out of her, for whatever reason.

Sableye is knocked up into the air by the STONE EDGE, but appears mostly undisturbed. The orbs of WILL O WISP are conjured once more, growing quicker and faster with each use that's supported by the ghost's PRANKSTER nature.

Katherine quickly snaps her fingers, drawing Sableye's attention to her before a mega-stone attached to her ankle bracelet illuminates the room. Thanks to the unique properties of her mirror hall, the luminous glow is all-encompassing— which sets the perfect stage for the mega evolution.

Amethyst then wields her large ruby gem as a shield before a second ZEN HEADBUTT is executed. Whatever damage is sustained is ignored on her way to Lucario.

seemingly from out of nowhere, roots start bursting from the ground, decayed and overgrown but oddly strong as it spreads out towards the sableye. lucario's FRENZY PLANT then moves, rolling in waves to disrupt sableye's ZEN HEADBUTT.[break][break]

it will still make it through — such is to be expected from a mega evolved pokemon. but the sableye will also find a SHADOW BOLT racing towards it regardless of whatever impact may follow.

The vines and roots entangle around Amethyst shortly after the ZEN HEADBUTT lands. They bind the ghost then and there, keeping it wrapped in their thorny hold before the Malevolent raises her hand.

A snap of her fingers allows for a surge of DISTORTED ENERGY to pulse within the mega-evolved Sableye, prompting it to phase through the binding move flawlessly. Undisturbed by its interference, their assault continues.

Matias' Lucario isn't graced with a moment to recuperate, nor is it given the space to plan its escape. Another ZEN HEADBUTT is executed. Unsurprisingly, the gem shield's used to mitigate some of the SHADOW BOLT's damage.

Only after the first headbutt lands does the ghost-type attempt to go for a second one.
