speak her mind. that definitely wasn’t going to happen, because what was running through her mind at that moment was that theo was pretty intimidating, in that particularly understated sort of way reserved for mob bosses on the movies she watched.

she was generally pretty good at playing it cool. this was one of those moments, except for the mildly deer-in-the-headlights look that met him.

”oh, it’s nothing. just—” think, nina, think. ”i need an ID. but like, that’s silly. i can just get one.” a fake one, of course. they weren’t exactly difficult to come by.
