cait had never fallen in love with a pokemon's appearance as quickly as she had her alolan persian. she had only very recently procured the pokemon by contacting a breeder located several towns over, the aged fellow promising her an adult persian in exchange for a tidy sum of money. she felt as though the investment was well worth it and had happily surrendered the original asking price. 

"who's my pretty girl?"

her grin was broad and excited as she hand fed the beautiful feline a few pricey treats that reeked of fish. the pokemon delighted in the edibles, a deep and rumbling purr spilling forth. 

'she's as brilliant as exeggutor is now,' she thought, eyeing the pokemon. 'i didn't realize alola pokemon were so - well - amazing.' 

her dark-type feline had taken to her quickly enough, having initially greeted her by gently butting her round head against her leg. 

"let's see how strong you are," she said. "c'mon, girl."

they'd come across the delcatty while it was in the midst of grooming itself. cait announced her presence prior to engaging it, the creature offering them a mildly irritated look before standing to engage the persian. 

"it's your time to shine, persian."

persian stepped forward, eager to showcase her natural talent as a battler. or, at the very least, confirm that she was competent at the brutal art.

"start off with night slash," cait directed. 

the dark-type propelled herself forward, her right paw encased in a potent and dark power before being raised to deliver a harsh blow. it connected and delcatty was sent sprawling before it hurriedly returned to its paws and assaulted the persian in turn with what appeared to be a play rough. 

their battle lasted for a handful of minutes, the pokemon fairly matched. fortunately, her persian came out as the victor, the creature soon standing above the dazed delcatty that had been felled by a swipe to the flank. 

"leave it, girl. let's keep moving." 

the normal-type stood upon wobbly legs, released an angry hiss and darted off into a nearby clump of foliage.

the farfetch'd made for a difficult creature to pursue. it was a clever thing, having taken notice to them before persian had the opportunity to pounce. it flapped its wings and situated itself upon a high branch, observing the pair as they craned their necks to peer up at it in turn.

"let's just leave it," cait said, shrugging.

she'd rather her pokemon not try climbing the tree for a chance at combating the bird. her persian's tail whipped from side to side, the dark-type's sharp-eyed gaze remaining fixed upon the bird for a moment longer as their mistress proceeded down the path. eventually, she'd follow the woman's lead, looking peeved.

the water-type proved comparably tougher than the previous two, its thick shell preventing persian from easily felling it. its power also was considerable enough to pose a threat and the feline was hard pressed to avoid its pincers. but she still managed to dig her claws into that deep red carapace and inflict 'chip away' damage as she wielded her claws with fervor. 

"that's my girl."  

both parties were left thoroughly battered, but the dual-type was allowed to maintain its consciousness as it fled. her cat had suffered more so, but managed to remain upon her paws as she returned to her mistress.

"let's get you home. okay? mama should be there by now," she said, petting the dark-type. "she's been wanting to meet you for a while now."
