Makana was born and raised in the island region of Alola where she had a reasonable childhood among the waves of her home, she became a Swimmer quite early on and was her chosen trainer class when she went on her journey. Where she earned the right to take on the Elite Four but before she did that Makana went home to rest up and get ready for the battle ahead of her, several of her friends and family were back home as well. As some had given up on their dreams after defeat but not so much that they joined Skull, they all welcomed her back but some were slightly jealous of her success.

And while they were goods friends with Makana, their emotions got a hold of them as they planned to prank Makana. Something that was simple and meant to only scare the girl slightly, turned into something so big that the police were called in. It turned out that the girls that were attempting to prank Makana hadn't prepped their prank area beforehand and their actions caused the death of a homeless man, despite having no actual involvement with the attempted prank and was even the one who called the police.

Makana was made the scapegoat by her friends, them claiming that she was the one that planned everything. She would've went to jail for life if not for the timely intervention of an old family friend, who believed that she had done nothing wrong. As even her family had believed her so called friends over Makana herself, the old family friend took Makana from Alola and made their way to Hoenn. Where things were kicking off for Team Rocket, which was the group the man belonged to and while Makana was hesitant at joining up at first.

She felt that if everyone she thought she could trust, believed her to be nothing more then a criminal and killer at that. Makana may as well prove them right, since Rocket was the only people that didn't throw her under the bus. She went into training for a time, so that Makana could feel ready and useful to the team. Having only recently come out of training officially, Makana can now hold her own even without the use of pokemon and use her natural agility to her advantage.
