The world raced around her like a blurred movie, passing her by on the back of expedition and extreme speed. She wanted to open her mouth, to scream out with triumph, but advice from her ferry urged her to keep her jaw wired shut. Nonetheless, she expelled her unbecoming excitement in other ways—the way her legs shook, the way her arms bunched up around her exposed shoulders and collarbones, the way her dark, wizened pupils blew wide in annihilative exhilaration. She had never done anything like it before, but the sight of the canyon fuzzing on the edges of her vision was enough to convince her that perhaps she should do it more often.[break][break] And all of this because Sienna so desperately needed transportation to the Fiery Path. The femme fatale couldn't help but celebrate this decision with a wide, wild grin as her ride slid to a pause before the yawning, darkened cavern that marked the beginning of the Fiery Path.[break][break] Adrenaline ran through her still. Her chest heaved, and her fingertips trembled as she withdrew a compact from her breast pocket to inspect her makeup and hair. Even as she touched-up her ruby red lipstick with the edge of her long coffin nail and gently pressed flyaway hairs down into her braids, her pupils had yet to return to regular size. Indeed, for a woman so obviously of high society, she enjoyed the ride in a way more akin to a seasoned rider than a woman accustomed to a softer lifestyle. It seemed even the high and mighty had wild sides—Sienna was no exception. In fact, in her case, it seemed she especially had a wild side, moreso than her prim and proper cohorts.
