The Pokeball warped away as Jarek hurried over to the waiting Dewgong. "Coming!" Quickly taking off his shoes and socks, he put them in his bag before hopping on the seal. "Uh, hey there...uh, buddy. You ready?"

"Pika!" And Volt hurried and leaped onto Jarek's back, ready to meet and catch some more Pokemon.

Well, looking around his surroundings, Jarek spotted a beautiful Swanna. Sadly, it was flying too high for his only flying Pokemon to reach. Even then, the bird will eat Pix alive. Then there's some...he doesn't know...Butterfree-wannabe? He already has the best butterfly Pokemon. Why would he need another and make Pix feel left out? It was his first catch, followed by his Pikachu.

"Let's go!"

Shalin also prepared for her trip into the sea, likewise removing her shoes and socks before climbing aboard her Milotic. "Ever gone riding on a Pokémon before?" she asked Jarek. "If not, I can show you the ropes!" If he was lacking in knowledge and willing to learn, Shalin would teach him the fundamentals of using his leg pressure to control the Dewgong's speed and the reins to control direction. "If you have any questions, let me know!"

Once they were a bit out to sea, Shalin spotted the same high-flying Swanna that Jarek did. It was out of reach of even her Milotic's Dragon Breath. There was one Pokémon she did have with ranged attacks that could, though! It was just a matter of finding a place to let him out. Aha, a sandbar not far from shore! That would do the trick! "Alright, Kiku, you're on!" Shalin tossed a Poké Ball toward the sandbar, from it emerging a Skuntank in riding gear. Was the female crazy enough to ride such a Poison-type? All it took was one musk misfire and she would reek something fierce. "Nail it with your SLUDGE BOMB!"

The waterfowl, still dozens of feet in the air, was completely unaware of Kiku's presence. Taking his time, he raised his tail at a high angle, pointing its tip in the general direction of the Swanna. A sound not unlike a firearm being discharged caught the attention as he launched a SLUDGE BOMB out of his tail and toward the Swanna at high speed. By the time it noticed, it was too late. The heavy goop made it impossible for the wild to fly, but it was far from helpless! In the middle of preparing for a water landing, the Swanna beat its wings fiercely in the direction of the sandbar, a BUBBLEBEAM pelting and soaking Kiku. Steam came out of his tail, forced to run a FLAMETHROWER through it to make it no longer waterlogged. The girl tossed a Poké Ball toward the Swanna, recalling the poison-type and retrieving her catch afterward if it succeeded.

Looking so sure of himself, "Eh, what's there to know? I'm pretty sure it's like riding a-BUHIIIIIIKE!!" When the Dewgong jet off, Jarek almost slipped off if he didn't quickly grab onto the seal. That would've been embarrassing, and maybe ruin his chance to find more water Pokemon.

Taking a breath, he watched this girl actually managed to battle that Swanna. "Whoa." Yeah, this girl is a pro, using Pokemon that can reach wild ones from great heights. He just hopes not everyone on this region are that powerful. He already felt left out back home; failing the first exam months ago. All his friends long went on their journey.

He was much into thought, that he failed to notice the shell Pokemon floating in the waters.

Shalin at first laughed when she saw Artea take off a bit faster than Jarek was ready for. It didn't surprise her; Dewgong had powerful, broad tails that could propel them at quite high speeds, even in the frigid waters their bodies were designed to swim through. "You know, Jarek..." she trailed off, stopping to collect her thoughts as Levy swam next to him, "There's a bit more to it than that. I'll show you how you can be a Pokémon riding pro in about seven seconds flat!" It wouldn't be quite that fast, but she would show him the basics...and one advanced technique if the boy was feeling particularly brave.

"Grab her reins and hold them straight in front of you, like I am," she instructed, mimicking the intended move with those of her Milotic mount. Hers were much longer due to the serpentine shape of her Pokémon, but they would function all the same. "Now with your knees or your feet, gently squeeze her sides. I say gently because the more force you use, the faster she'll go. And it looked like she was going pretty fast before!"

Provided Jarek was comfortable riding straight ahead, the wild child would continue her riding lesson. "This is where it's a lot like riding a bike. Think of pulling on the reins just like pulling on the handlebars of a bike. If you pull with your left hand, she'll turn left. Pull with your right and she'll turn right. The stronger you pull on her, the harder she'll turn." That was plenty for now; she had covered the basics of surface swimming. Underwater navigation was a lot more complicated, and the riders weren't exactly geared for underwater exploration.
