Even during the day, the Zeraora is like a beacon of light. A golden pattern shimmers amongst its bright white fur; a change that at first had been subtle but then had become all too obvious as the potions effect took hold of the mythical feline.

”Do you have to go so fast?” Mars asks with a sigh, knowing the answer already.

The feline sits on a rock up ahead, right where the path becomes steeper. Clearly, he’s merely waiting for his trainer.

Just as Mars reaches the Zeraora’s side, its gaze turns away from him all too suddenly, pointed ears perking up. Something has caught its attention, and that something soon reveals itself to be a Mr Mime.

Now, see, Mars doesn’t particularly mind them, he even has a certain appreciation for the species, psychic specialist as he is, but he already has enough Mr Mime as is. So, naturally, there’s only one thing that can be done about this one.

He clicks his tongue and it’s quickly that the Zeraora responds. Too quick for the Mr Mime to set up a barrier.

Just like that, it’s soon that Mars resumes his jog.

The higher they go, the lower the temperature, to a point that it doesn’t seem all that normal. It’s too cold, and when Mars starts seeing his breath appear as clouds of condensation before him, he slows down until coming to a stop. The Zeraora stops too, looking back at him – questioning.

See… In all the time Mars has spent visiting the mountain (every week for over a year now), he has come to know it well, and because that’s the case, he also has developed pretty good senses for when things aren’t as they are supposed to be.

Fulgora soon confirms this: there’s a Froslass nearby.

The Zeraora deals with it after a single command. Just like that, they go back to Mt Pyre as usual.

”Fulgora, the next time we’re here you may have to fight.” He tells the Zeraora, paying little mind to whatever wild pokémon there may be nearby. In turn, Fulgora looks at him, giving a soft prusten and twitching its whiskers. Mars smirks, extending a fist towards the pokémon that has come to be one of his most loyal companions. ”Do me proud.”
