Another morning of jogging up one of Mount Pyre’s trails just as the sun begins to rise. The time when most ghosts go into hiding and mourners have not yet made it to the mountain’s graveyard. It's a quiet time. Perhaps even a time favoured by a few elusive little symbols…

Today, it’s one of his Eevee that keeps him company during his jog. Most particularly: the one that is offspring to a shadow pokémon and that happens to know some rather unique moves. Such is the reason why he wants to train this particular Eevee, of course.

Wild pokémon crossing their path is an inevitable fact of places like these, and the first one to do so today is a Jynx. The Eevee, generally less tranquil than his brethren due to its shadow parentage, growls at the wild pokémon, and while Mars considers pausing, he does not.

”Ignore it and keep going.” He says to the fox, caring little for the fact that it is soon left behind.

He can still hear it growling, but he does not stop, and soon enough, the Eevee gives in, quick little steps being audible behind him as it attempts to catch up with him. Mars doesn’t even consider slowing down for its sake.

What they encounter next is not a rare sight: a Meditite meditating on a rock, fittingly of its species’ name. They could let this one be as well, especially given that the Eevee seems yet to be unaware of its presence, but Mars makes the decision to stop.

They’ll eventually move on to just non-verbal commands using this training as base, but for now, the Eevee understands what the words mean, and it uses its shadow attack in response.

As per usual, it’s his alarm that marks the end of his jog – indicating that he’s out of time. Mars sighs, slowing down until coming to a stop. It’s only then that he looks at the Eevee by his side.

The Vulpine pokémon, of darker fur than most Eevee and gleaming crimson eyes, meets his gaze, but it does not leave his side.

He doesn’t talk to it, he doesn’t try to pet it, he just waits patiently. The moment the Eevee looks as if it’ll get distracted, he calls it back.
