Darkness prematurely settles over the secret island far within the Hoennian seas. Where the last slithers of daylight should still warmly illuminate the sky, instead a cold lunar eclipse dangles and obscures. 

Beneath the false moon, a shadow and a legendary pokemon do battle. Angelo issuing commands to Altaria from the ground, training it with his trusted partner, to which it so far appears to tolerate... 

But the Altaria is a frayed livewire. One wrong move and the sparks crackle up your fingertips without warning. Such was the nature, Angelo was learning, of those who's hearts had been pumped with shadows. 

That wrong move comes in the form of an Omanyte crawling across their clearing, attempting to innocently get from one beach to another. Its startled by twin dragon pulses clashing together, panics and fires a spike cannon towards the Altaria. 

Then it all goes to shit. The glass shattering as the shadow pokemon turns its stormy sights on the Omanyte, breaking away from training to release a vindictive hurricane. 

Lifting an arm in front of his face, Angelo grits his teeth in frustration, kept from being blown back by Chip acting as a wind breaker.  

“You're fine, just leave it! Fuck...!”

Latios, get her under control.

In sync with Angelo's thoughts, Latios reacts, psychic energy lashing out to restrain the Altaria in a telekinetic hold. 

At the mercy of the legenday's power, the humming pokemon screeches in frustration. Its shrill fury piercing over the howl of the wind as the hurricane begins to ebb...

The Omanyte finds itself blown back into the bush for its interference.

After returning the shadow pokémon back into its capsule, Angelo finds that the weight of its pokeball in his palm has not eased from when he'd started. 

The surroundings were far lighter, however. Only because the Altaria had caused a real mess of the landscape in her rage, thinning the canopy. 

Angelo, too, sported a somewhat more dishevelled appearance after this evening. He'd decided to call time on the shadow pokemon's training after a battle with a wild Hydreigon had finally tired her out - although she'd still tried to carry on. 

Somewhere in the back of his mind, darker thoughts are pulled to wonder if the Rocket back at the base of Meteor Falls, would have had an easier time training it. 

It's less a feeling of self-doubt, as it is contemplation on methodology...

Latios bumps the side of his head against Angelo's cheek, pulling him back to reality. Reassuring the legendary, the pilot pats him in return. 

“Right. We should move. It is getting late.”

Boots sink into sand before long, leaving behind the crunch of forest dirt and leaves after a lengthy goodbye to Chip.

Angelo always feels a gnawing of guilt leaving the abnormally large Roggenola all alone out here. So he humours her pining with more pets and subpar treats (the same he'd fed her back in the Regirock ruins) until he really has to leave. 

Maybe he could bring her closer ashore to spend more time with her but no doubt she'd be prodded and surveyed, if the League - or Rocket, for that matter - knew of her existence. 

Was an island prison better than an underground one?

At least she can see the sky here and feel the wind. 

Draped over a float of his seaplane is draped a Tentacool. It glares at him and refuses to budge, even after he approaches.

A Dragapult, lounging on the other side, merely blinks at the aquatic creature. 

“As always, thanks for the stellar work, Mike.” He teases the Dragapult. And yet the playfulness doesn't really reach tired blue eyes as he throws a pokeball at the creature.
