It’s cold. Too cold, even by Autumn’s standards. Too cold for it to be natural. It could be the result of the changes the region has undergone, but more than anything, Mars knows Mount Pyre well enough to be aware of what pokémon may be responsible.

When the Froslass’ AURORA VEIL falls upon them, the Alolan Raichu is ready, dashing through the air towards the ghost. It had not attacked, but it had clearly had the intent, and that’s good enough for it to be deemed an enemy.

Electricity sparks, but Mars doesn’t even bother with watching the battle in its entirety. He just keeps on walking.

While the Froslass had made its presence known with a drop in temperature, the Grumpig is much more obvious. It stands in the middle of their path, and just as Mars is about to tell Notus to deal with the pokémon in question, it tries to use its POWER GEM on them.

Of course, Mars himself swiftly TELEPORTS a few metres away to avoid the attack, but Notus takes the hit, and he’s clearly not at all happy about it.

Still, he doesn’t attack until the command is given.

They eventually make it to the summit… or perhaps what’s left of it. Mount Pyre has changed, the remnants of the battle for the primal point remain ever present, and while Mars does not grieve for what the mountain used to be, he does find himself wondering if the Unown still like it as much as they once did.
