Since the day he wandered into that distortion in Mossdeep, he’s been saddled with a rather interesting typhlosion. Nimuë, as he’s come to call her, is a docile beast, but a formidable one. As it stands, he’s not had much time to see what the effects of the warping have been beyond simple appearance. Today, he aims to correct that. But even if it’s simply an aesthetic change, who can resist the plum fur and her droopy face??[break][break]

She’s also a dependable creature—he’s become aware of this as well. Anytime she’s out of her pokeball, she hovers close. This is no less true today, and her head nudges against his arm as she drops to all fours while they wander the safari zone. Looking for treats no doubt, or maybe just prolonged attention.

A kecleon peers at them curiously from its hiding place, and though the lizard doesn’t strike much interest for him, Fern figures this is a as good a start as any. “Alright, Nim! Let’s see how your self-control fares! Not too powerful, okay?” At his instruction, the typhlosion lumbers forward, eager to please. And perhaps eager to receive scratchies for a job well done.[break][break]

The kecleon, sensing impending threat, rears up and draws a clawed fist back for a nasty SUCKER PUNCH, but Nimuë doesn’t charge in. Instead, she spits a plume of flame at the lizard, the reduced FLAMETHROWER scorching the lizard and the ground around it as Fern throws a ball in the wake of the attack.

It isn't more than a minute or two before something else is springing out of the brush at them. Fern is only just stooping to pick up the ball housing the newly caught kecleon when a mankey tumbles out, ready to rumble. "Alright, Nim! Round two is up!"[break][break]

With a rumbling growl, the typhlosion sets into action and dodges out of the way of a LOW KICK swept at her paws. Twisting back toward the mankey, Nim rears up and opens her maw wide. Dark energy gathers and swirls together before shooting out at the mankey in a SHADOW BALL. On a whim, Fern decides to aim for catching this one as well.

Metallic clanking interrupts the next leg of their walk and again, Fern decides to test Nim’s capabilities. “Melt it down, Nim!” he encourages the typhlosion as the approaching Klink fills the air with echoing metallic sound to shore itself up.[break][break]

As she pushes forward, odd, eerie balls of flame pop up around her, conjured in order to be hurled at the klink in ordered procession, which doesn’t stand a chance. It’s a spooky, and sizzling infernal parade, to say the least.

"Alright, Nim. Break time." Fern thinks she's done well this far, and it's given him the opportunity to see just what it is that she's capable of. The results have been pleasing, the mix of fire and ghost attacks suit his typical type preferences, and her temperament is one that he enjoys greatly. [break][break]

A cubchoo toddles by, but neither pokemon nor trainer pay it mind while they take a pause. Instead, Fern fishes free an apple from the depths of his coat pockets and offers it to her. The typhlosion doesn't nubble at it, and instead snatches the apple from his palm whole.

Fern smiles as he watches Nimuë devour the apple in a few chomps, clearly delighted with the taste. So much so that she is soon head butting against Fern, nudging at his stomach and sticking her head into his unbuttoned jacket in search of more. “Ah, food-motivated, I see,” he says with a laugh as she continues to rummage. “There are more, just not here.” She huffs, obviously not believing the fib. Smart gal.[break][break]

As with the cubchoo, a drifting jigglypuff goes ignored. And Fern fishes free a second apple. “Called my bluff. But this really is the last one.”

"That's really it for real," he consoles the typhlosion, who wants to continue rooting in his pockets for hidden apples. She rumbles out a sullen response, but Fern distracts her by pointing toward an innocuous looking dunsparce that is plopped on the ground near the exit.[break][break]

"Let's wrap up by practicing on that, and you'll get more apples at home, deal?" Nim obviously doesn't respond, but it's the only initiative she needs. Nim rumbles toward the poor, unassuming dunsparce as Fern trails after, safari ball in hand. Earth kicks up around her as she barrels into it, using ROLLOUT.
