needing to clear his head on a particularly stressful day, theo finds himself out for a run along the route beneath rustboro, away from the bustling city and towards more quaint areas.[break][break]

his breathing is steady, practiced as he picks up the pace. his skuntank runs by his side, somehow able to keep up despite its stubby legs.[break][break]

A flutter of wings draws Lam out of his doze, and when his eyes open, the round, green eyes of a cramorant are staring back at him, unblinking. It pays no mind to the birdseed left on the ground, and instead tries to grab at the charcoal, apparently mistaking it for a snack.[break][break]

“Oh no, dude. That’s not a fish.” he scrambles, disrupting his shinx who tumbles forward and stuns the bird with a startled burst of WILD CHARGE.[break][break]

Well, he supposes this was technically what he came out here for… he has to rummage for a pokeball. Kinda bumbling for a new trainer, he’ll get the hang of it. Uh, eventually.[break][break]

A cooing from Mallow alerts him to the fact that the debacle has sent him tumbling into the path, and now he’s blocking the path of a runner and his skuntank, which is staring straight at him. “Oh, shit. Sorry, my guy.”

their run is soon interrupted by a tumbling trainer with hair as green as the plant life around them. he slows to a stop easily enough but his skuntank is not as quick.[break][break]

its stubby legs skid against the ground only to crash into the painter, not enough to seriously hurt but enough to knock him back, maybe![break][break]

"i feel as though i'm the one who needs to be sorry."[break][break]

a swoobat swoops by, nodding its head in agreement.[break][break]

"are you okay?"

Suddenly the world is a blur, and a tumble of foliage and dark plum fur. "Oof." It isn't too bad of a collision, though. All things considered, the skuntank could've taken him out at the knees.[break][break]

Lam's brows pinch together as he looks up at the man. "Why would you need to be? I'm the one tripping in the path." He stretches a hand out toward the skuntank in an offering for it to sniff. "Your bud here was just minding its business."[break][break]

Finally, his hands move to his knees as he pushes himself back up. Noodle winds through his ankles with territorial hisses and spits, and Lam rolls his eyes amusedly. "No, goof. They're fine. Go fight that, instead." The shinx follows his lazy point and then charges toward, SPARKS shooting out at a poor archen who made the mistake of landing nearby.[break][break]

He turns back toward Theo, giving him a thumbs up. "I'm fine, though. Thanks for asking. It's chill."

at the offered hand, skuntank sniffs the air once and immediately recoils and acts as though it had just sniffed the worst smell in the world. it backs up until its fluffy butt hits theo's leg.[break][break]

not really. he's relatively indifferent to the stranger's health and well-being.[break][break]

the gorebyss in the bush is not noticed. it would've been caught if it had been.[break][break]

"your shinx seems eager for a fight."

When the skuntank repelled away like he smelled foul, Lam pressed a hand to his chest, “ouch, dude.” The lazy grin on his face betrayed the fact that he didn’t really care too much, however.[break][break]

Whether this stranger actually cares for his state of being or not, Lam doesn’t actually mind. It’s casual, and he doesn’t care who he is. He’s just glad that the man didn’t jump down his throat for colliding with his skuntank, or for accidentally crowding the path.[break][break]

“Hmm..maybe. Usually he’s just full of hot air, though.” He did do well against the Archen, at least. Noodle scampered back, obviously pleased with himself and completely ignoring the chance for further fight against a nearby binacle that tried to swat him as he passed.

as friendly as this tentacruel that just watches them from afar, keeping to itself. it is a bit eerie just floating there, though.

Briefly, his brows lift and his first reaction is to respond with a skeptical little uhhh.. It smooths over, however, when the other man clarifies.[break][break]

Lam’s head tilts in consideration. “Might not be a terrible idea,” he remarks, glance shifting down to scrappy little shinx who is busy once again bullying another wild pokemon–this time a taillow that he shoots SPARKS at.[break][break]

“Gotta say, though. I’m no pro,” his shoulders rise and fall, an easy grin still on his face, “probably would get squashed, but practice is a good thing.”[break][break]

At least, it is if he actually wants to improve– and he does, if anything, for the sake of keeping pace with Ikarus Rook.

technically, he isn't lying. theo remains unranked in the system as he's never competed. he has, however, challenged the gym circuit here in hoenn, but that doesn't quite equate to being a pro.[break][break]
