So. Genevieve lied to him. Mr. Business did not look especially happy with her, as she has now been here for two hours. Why has she not left? She will catch a cold. This paranoid, anxious, almost paternal ape was about to lose it at this carefree redhead, but all that was running through Genny's mind was simple.

This place... wasn't too bad! Sure, there's frozen Pokemon in the field, the trees are frozen, it's snowy, but hey! You know what? It's not usually like this! This is a rare occasion, and she's doing her duty in scouting it out as a Pokemon Ranger!

There were obviously two different wavelengths here.

The sweetheart continues to surveil the location, as the ape pouts and follows after her, making step after step into the snowy terrain. Who knows, may she'll find something else! Or someone to talk to? Either way, she walks with a pep to her step! Even if she's probably going to regret it later!

Thanks to the warning he’d gotten, he knew better than to touch the ice ‘wall’ that had frozen Pokémon stuck in grotesque poses; a grim reminder of what had happened in the upper atmosphere.

Of how there was something else now out here, potentially ready to cause more havoc if provoked… and what did he come away with? Well… to be honest…

He was lucky he came away with his fucking life!

Now that there was another patch of ice, in this surprisingly tropical region (strange he didn’t have to hide away in Shoal Cave so much anymore) he was here, casing out the place as well and cobbling together a report that he would eventually send out to all the Rangers about this strange, alien occurrence…

Of ice that never melted? Ice so dangerous that when touched barehanded a person would be lucky to come away with their hand, if not frostbite and potential death?!

Yikes.

Not even the thought of snowboarding in a place like this would quell his morbid curiosity…

He was accompanied by Alpha the Lucario, who looked around the place warily; just in case someone—or something decided to come out of the ice and attack them.

With hazel eyes now below her hand, looking out for potential rescues to be made, Genevieve finds one such; well, less a rescue, and more just someone to talk to. Accompanied by a jackal Pokemon, and she grins, bouncing in place now. "See, Mr. Business? We'll have company!"

This was not the kind of business Mr. Business was irritated with. In fact, he stares on, frustrated entirely at Genevieve's sunny-side up personality. This place was frozen hells, but the way she walks towards them with no care in the world...

That naivety would get her killed.

He follows on, as she waves from a distance. "Hey! You lost?" She'll take a conversation partner any day of the week! Besides, the last one was such a sweetheart! As she approaches, she calls out. "Cadet Cromwell, Pokemon Ranger! I'm here to assist you!" She's giving her trademark straight-postured salute.

She has no idea that this person is also a Ranger. Ah well.

This'll be fun.

“Not really lost, I—” he began, blinking as his ‘accidental companion’ introduced herself.

At least he wasn’t going to be traveling with a yeti, or an abominable snowman which was a good thing!

There was a Darmanitan trundling along with her, which at least meant she knew to always have a Fire-type around.

(Oh, the surprises that would come barreling their way when she realized he was not just any run-of-the-mill Ranger, but one of the Head Rangers themselves.)

He then wondered who she trained under. Hmm, he hadn’t seen her file yet… crap. Paperwork, again!

“When’d you get here?” he inquired, curious. Maybe it was annalise henderson who’d handled her paperwork…

Ear-to-ear, she beams at the new person! This was the second person she found here! Already, they seemed like a sweet individual! With a lookover, right as he inquires about her, she gives it. A little naive!

"I'd say a month ago, if you mean Hoenn! If you meant this place though, about four, five hours ago? I'm here for rescue operations if I can! Some Pokemon are likely displaced due to ecological shifts in their habitats. At least, that's what we have on file!"

Genny isn't exactly the smartest, but when it came to this stuff, she tried to keep as up to date as she could. But something catches her eye. A blue... blue! It's a white and blue Abomasnow! Cowering behind a tree, looking at their direction. With a big wide ol' grin, she takes out a Pokeball.

"One sec!"

And chucks that shit right towards the big cowardly guy. BAM! That would be her first Pokemon capture, as she turns towards the man again. "What's your name?"

“I meant Hoenn, in general—my bad,” he apologized as a familiar-looking Pokémon came across their way. Only unlike his own Abomasnow that had rather… cannibalistic tendencies to start eating children, this one was more amiable to coming along, it seemed?

Lucky her.

Before he could answer her question though, the jingling of… keys… caught his attention. Before he could even say a word, the Lucario had jumped ahead, slamming a Sphere of Auric energy right as it had launched a nasty Mirror Shot attack, cancelling the other attack out before clobbering it with a Brick Breaking smash.

“Sorry, one sec as well,” he grinned as he chucked an empty Pokéball at what he now recognized as a Klefli. Huh, interesting. The way the Lucario had moved out of the incoming capsulation device resembled a figure skater’s more than anything.

“Right… you can call me Lars.”

It was another Pokemon that catches her eye, and thankfully for Lars here, Genevieve knew how to continue the conversation after the fact, because just as the jingle of keys were heard, she heard the small little iron thing nearby.

An idea is formed, and with a Pokeball in handle, she sticks out her tongue, and does a trick shot.

She learned this doing it approximately five-hundred times at the HQ, and had beaten up a number of Pokeballs, but the results spoke for itself, as it smacks into a branch, and proceeds to land right onto the back of the little steel monster (Aron), only for Genevieve to turn towards Lars and smile.

"Lars... understood! Then about a month ago, yeah!" She smiles, bouncing on her heels, as she holds up her pink-gloved hand to shake his own. "So why are you here, Lars?" She asks pointedly.

Well, if she wanted the real answer…

“…to be honest, look at it this way—do you think any Ice-type can do this easily? Not at all,” he shared quietly. “If you were around the area in mid-November, you may have seen something that you thought was just a fable, only it came to life and revealed itself. I wanted to look around if there were any more clues as to its location.”

In the singular worst way possible.

The macabre frozen ‘gallery’ of Pokémon was a stark reminder of this.

“Surprising how there are Pokémon already living in here, and the ice itself isn’t melting despite spring so near,” he hummed a few moments later as he spotted a Cryogonal but let it go past him.

He already had one, after all.

A fair answer, and one she had to agree with. Looking around was her biggest goal, but she quickly gives him her own reason. "Same here, honestly. Just rescuing where I can. I'll sure we can free the others soon too!" She was naive, but hopeful, and yet, the look on her face is a little saddened.

Because she already knew.

Shaking it off, she doesn't realize there's a Frosmoth on her head now, perched quitely and waiting. "Pokemon are resilient. They move where the habitat moves. So I guess it's pretty normal actually. Still-" She looks to the side. She's almost about to get in a slump, but sees the wing first. With a big giggle, she holds up a hand towards the Frosmoth, and holds out a Pokeball.

And right in he goes! "Think that's my fifth since winter started." What to name the little guy? Ah, happy thoughts.

He didn’t disclose that it was actually Nevermelting Ice, unless she already knew what it was.

Another fidget of movement caught his eye—he was ready to chuck an empty Pokéball at it when he realized it wasn’t the one he was looking for. Funny.

“Oh. I’m looking for the other version of this. The one… that looks like…” he trailed off before miming what a toilet bowl looked like.

“Wonder if we can find one out here.”
