With the meteor gone, there had been a great deal of cleanup to be done. Josh had been hard at work dealing with rampaging Pokemon and other issues that had come from the aftereffects of tampering with space time as they had. It had been necessary, but now they would have to deal with the consequences.

One of them was investigating the rifts, and reports of strange Pokemon activity that had begun to appear in Hoenn since. Rumors of a sighting had brought Josh to the outskirts of Slateport City, where people had claimed to have seen a strange Pokemon. Some said it was brown, others said it looked like it was wrapped in tinsel. Josh didn't know if any of these rumors were true. It would simply be the luck of the draw, no?

Like the Titanic, Josh's odds of finding anything notable seemed to be sinking by the moment. Well, at the least, the thing he was looking for. This "Ooper" that he'd heard about, what was it exactly? It seemed unnatural to the Hoenn region by the reports he had read. He just hoped that it wasn't causing any trouble.

A Sableye peered at him and Lightning from the background but didn't try to engage. Not this time anyway.

Josh hadn't known what to expect, but when he found the brown Pokemon with barbs, he did not expect it to be so...

"Oh my god."

Noting that the barbs on its cheeks, unlike a regular Wooper, looked poisonous. Josh was careful to approach the creature before bringing a hand to its head. The creature stared back at him with big, soulless eyes.

"Who's a cute lil' poopy?"
[break][break]
"Woopa?"
[break][break]
Josh had begun scratching the creature's slippery head, and the nubs next to its barbs that he was going to guess were ears.

"Who's a poopy pooper? Is that you? Is that you? Are you a cutie poopy?"

"Woopa!"
[break][break]
At the least, P-Wooper seemed to be entertaining this on account that the Ranger had shown himself to be absolutely zero threat to it. Though Josh had to admit... He'd never seen a brown Wooper with poisonous barbs before. Josh quickly moved to check his PokeDex app, though there didn't appear to be any data on Wooper variants on Hoenn's servers... But after a bit of searching he was able to cross reference and find a similar looking creature that was apparently from a region called Paldea.

What was a Paldea region? Josh didn't know. But for now...

Josh took out an Oran Berry and held it out to this... P-Wooper.

"What should I call you? You're not exactly a Wooper..."
[break][break]
"Woopa."
[break][break]
"I know you're a Wooper, but you're a very different Wooper. Paldean Wooper... Pooper. I'm gonna call you Pooper."

"Woopa!"
[break][break]
Pooper at least seemed to enjoy this exchange enough to gobble down the berry. While it was eating, Josh rolled a Pokeball into it.
