He'd been worried asking nanette bouvier to meet him here would have been too forward, but it was a whole affiliated event. He also didn't strike him as the type to do it alone, so what better way than to offer escort for a little bit. He'd been planning on moving along all the bars anyway, but that was later in the night. He didn't have a problem hanging out with a friend. And if she liked it? He'd just pop a quick text and bring her with him. And if she didn't? No harm in taking her home. [break][break]

Besides, he thought it prudent to stop pestering her so much at her place of business for once. It's not popping off quite yet, but its still fairly busy. He saved her a seat next to him at the bar, making polite conversation with the bartender and waiting until his friend arrived before ordering what he wanted. Every so often he'd glance around the bar to check for her before catching sight of her walking in. "Over here!" he called out with a small wave. A little cocktail menu set in front of her stool. "Glad you could make it."

what does one wear to a bar? she's not sure if she remembers. she thinks, and maybe she's never been to one. the crowd was too big or she was never invited. the dream of it, and all that meandering possibility, sits at the tip of her tongue, too large to swallow.[break][break]

she should have gone shopping yesterday. she loves the dazzling newness of new things. new to her in the way they hold, how they feel in her hands, the sound they make across manicured fingertips, the flush of her skin as fabric slips against it. yes, she should've bought a dress.[break][break]

she comes to with thoughts already in her little mind. the brush of a man at her shoulder, and a girl slipping by, grazing against her back. bars are too full. she sees denim everywhere, and she thinks she over dressed. the flow of her dress lands just an inch or two too short.[break][break]

Paxton keeps an eye on her as she glided through the crowd, surprised at how she wasn't jostled that badly. She sits down, silent but at least in the correct seat. The woman had a bit of a habit of zoning out, but the blonde didn't seem bothered. Instead he waved the bartender over taking a small card with the specialty drinks on it and giving it a look over. With his drink of choice selected he set it in front of Nanette. A couple more minutes pass, he checks an email, some texts before his friend began to speak up. "Good evenin'." he said putting his phone away and turning towards her. "As lovely as your dress." he said with a small smile. "I liked the clouds. Always seems less cold and windy when they're out." he continued. [break][break]

smiles surround them, crowd enveloping the two in merriment and cheer. it infested her, smile creeping upon the wide blankness on her face. it was sweet, sugar plum plucked, a visage fit for a merry christmas. “absolutely,” she chimes, voice a silver bell ring. “what kind of drinks do you like?”

He nodded before replying with a snort. "Strong ones." He didn't often sit around to savor his liquor, instead he preferred the cheapest, quickest way to getting drunk. But he was in polite company so he would abstain. [break][break]

"I don't mind sweet though. Sweet and sour is pretty good." he said his finger pointing at one in particular on a little paper menu. "A Cosmopolitan might be good." he suggested before looking back at Nanette. "Say, how often do you drink?" he asked before offering his own experience. "I don't go out as regularly as I used too since my promotion, but my tolerance is decent enough."
