Out of all of his Pokémon, it’s one of his Meowstic that accompanies Mars for his hike up to the summit of Mount Pyre. He had jogged as high as he could go, but on this particular morning he feels like taking a moment to appreciate the eerie mountain’s view of Hoenn.

He also apparently feels like having Circe with him, despite the fact that the Meowth of luscious white fur generally only aids with one very particular aspect of his work for Team Rocket (here’s a little fourth wall break for you: maybe Azul just needed a white pokémon for today’s advent prompt).

Circe doesn’t seem too impressed by her surroundings, honestly, but it’s with grace that she walks up to Mount Pyre’s summit, as if it were no effort at all.

It’s Circe that pauses first, her folded ears twitching and lifting just so slightly. She points straight ahead, and when looking in that direction, it takes Mars a short moment to realise what she’s trying to show him. There’s nothing and yet sunlight bounces off as if meeting the clearest of glass.

”We’ll go around it.” He tells the Meowstic, and so they do, avoiding the tricks of the wild psychic pokémon. They could fight it, of course, but in this case there really isn’t much point.

When he reaches the highest point he can reach, it’s not just rock that he finds, but smooth sand piled up as if he were down at the beach. Sand and a shovel. The sight is familiar by now.

It’s unlikely to happen. Children don’t usually make it this high up, and that honestly makes Mars almost feel bad for the Sandyghast. Almost.
