Out of all people in the world, Mars should be one of the last to ever complain about how unfair it is that some pokémon don’t have to run to move around. Yet, he chooses to run for the sake of keeping in shape, and such being the case, when in the middle of a jog, he can’t help but feel the slightest annoyance when watching the way his Gholdengo easily glides on its golden board — uphill, no less.

Sure, he could just teleport to the summit of the mountain, but that would defeat the purpose of this morning jogging routine, would it not?

So, inevitably, he lets Oro be and keeps running.

We all know how this goes by now, since it’s been the same routine for over a year. Mars goes for a run, and while most people would find the mere prospect of jogging up a mountain where there’s a considerable amount of graves, he doesn’t really seem to mind. Sure, he could go to Route 121 and still be able to search for Unown in the process, but running uphill is much better exercise, okay? This is all about being efficient and effective!

And so, he goes, his Gholdengo keeping up with him at a steady pace. At one point or another they spot a Decidueye watching them from high up on a tree, but since it does not attack, they also let it be.

No need to engage in a fight like that, right? It's just not worth it right now.

The run continues and after a few minutes of enjoying the scenery while listening to yet another audiobook, Mars spots a Sigilyph flying in the vicinity. Psychic type as it may be, this pokémon is also left alone, since it definitely isn’t what he’s looking for – no matter the similarities.

Speaking of… the Gholdengo seems to care little for his search, instead being more preoccupied with finding cool slopes to slide down with its board. It has a very… playful personality, to say the least.

Up in the summit of Mount Pyre, not all that far from the rift, there happens to be a small pond, and although Mars wouldn’t usually pay it much mind, this time the large pokémon swimming in it catches his eye.

A Veluza.

Are all these Paldean pokémon coming from the rifts, then?

Specialist in both psychic and water types as he is, the chance to catch such a pokémon is not missed. With a sharp whistled note, the Gholdengo is sent to face the Veluza, calling THUNDER upon the fish.

Thankfully, it’s not enough to fry it, but it does startle it for long enough for Mars to throw a Luxury Ball.
