As Elaina and Ira continued to walk down the path, they spotted a Darumaka, dancing gleefully. Elaina chuckled for a minute, watching its cute round body jump up and down happily. It had noticed them but didn't perceive them as a threat. Instead, it had given both her and Ira a little tiny wave as they passed the Darumaka, not wanting to interrupt its dancing. "At least it wasn't a Darmanitan. If it were, then it probably would have become hostile the moment it saw us," Elaina thought to herself. Luckily though, she had Ira by her side, so she doubted that nothing bad would happen.

Elaina had entered a clearing, immediately spotting a chingling. It made her think of her mother's chingling, which had brought a gentle smile to form on her face. It had spotted her walking closer, being slightly skittish about her presence. "It's okay! I'm not gonna hurt you," Elaina smiled, slowly bending down on one of her knees. Any quick or sudden movements would have surely warranted the tiny bell to run away out of fright - something that Elaina wanted to avoid. What kind of ranger would she be if she terrified every wild pokemon in existence? Surely, not a good one.

Elaina had placed her bag out in front of her, pulling out a treat for the chingling to have. "Go on, take it! It's yours," She said to the tiny cute bell. It eyed the treat hesitantly, then quickly grabbed it out of her hand with the left side of its tassle, grabbing it as if it were an arm. She gently petted the chingling for a few moments, seeming to like it. Then afterward, Elaina had thought about something. "Chinglings could heal pokemon, right?" She thought to herself, remembering Melody Miro, her Hatterene, and Gardevoir working together to heal the budew. It was then that Elaina decided to pull out a Safari ball, wanting to bring it home with her. That assignment with Melody made her realize how important it was to have a pokemon that could provide some sort of healing, and since she didn't have one, well she figured that it'd be best to learn more about it. "Perhaps, if we see each other again, Melody could give me a few pointers," She thought to herself as she pressed the safari ball against the chingling's head, waiting for the click, before pressing on and searching for some more pokemon out in the safari zone.

Elaina decided to go further into the safari zone, wanting to see what else was out there. She only had two safari balls left, and with her seeing the chingling earlier, as well as it reminding her of her mother, she couldn't resist. To her, it was like a part of her would always be with her. Truth be told, she had wanted her mother's Chingling, however, she knew that she didn't like the thought of leaving the mansion back home, so she decided that it'd be best that it should stay with her father. As Elaina continued walking, she spotted a pokemon that she had not seen before. It was a rabbit-like pokemon, and whenever it moved, the grass underneath its feet would smell as if it were burning. "Is this a fire-type pokemon? She wondered.

When she approached, it noticed her, hopping over to her. It held out its hands as if it expected a treat. That was probably because some other passerby fed it. Luckily though, Elaina had some more treats in her bag, giving it a treat. Elaina proceeded to leave it be, but it stepped in front of her once again. It didn't seem like the little bunny wanted her to leave. "Do you want to come back home with me?" Elaina asked the skorbunny, and its hopping of delight, she figured that was a 'yes'. Elaina took out another Safari Ball, pressing it against the skorbunny's forehead. "Only one more left. After I catch one more pokemon, I should probably call it a day," She thought to herself. Once the safari ball with the skorbunny inside it clicked, she continued to press on, going further into the safari zone.

Elaina was getting a little tired from all the walking, however, she was determined on using her last safari ball. She found a place for her and Ira to rest, and as they did, she spotted a Pancham walking in the distance. She decided to just simply observe it though. She wasn't sure if its evolved form was around these parts, as mother Pangoro were notorious for being protective towards their young. Elaina didn't want to risk the chance of its mother coming along, and finding her bothering its child. Instead, she continued to watch it from a safe distance, until she was well enough rested to keep moving forward.

Elaina had gathered her things before setting out and as she did, she called out to Ira. "Hey Ira! It's time to-" She abruptly paused when she turned to face her fighting ghost pokemon. It was bent over, its face towards the ground with its but in the air. Elaina blinked a few times, not really sure what made Ira wanna do such a thing. "Just what on earth is the goofball doing?" She thought to herself. From her angle and position, she couldn't see it, however, Ira was fascinated by the cutiefly that was perched on a thin long strip of grass right in front of it. He was simply admiring the fly's cuteness.

"Hey Ira, I said it's time to get going-" Elaina had said, walking over to her pokemon, not paying attention to where her foot landed, accidentally stepping on Ira's big toe on his right foot. Ira howled in pain, which caused the Cutiefly to fly away out of fright. Elaina didn't notice the bug pokemon fly away because she was too busy with calming down the distressed Annhilape whose tow had been seemingly crushed. After Ira had calmed down a bit, the two of them continued to trudge deeper into the safari zone.

Elaina ventured further into the Safari Zone, just realizing how big it was. "It doesn't look as big on the map though," Elaina thought to herself. She figured it was just one of those visual deception tricks. Elaina stopped for a moment, hearing a running waterfall and a cry from ... something that she had never heard before. Both she and Ira had decided to investigate, seeing what looked like a tiny cute fish out of the water. She walked up, not really seeing it as a threat. "Hey there, little guy," Elaina said, picking up the pokemon. It didn't seem to mind her picking it up. As she examined the pokemon while it faced the opposite direction in her hands, it sneezed out a powerful DRAGON PULSE which made Elaina stop what she was doing.

"Well I'm glad I didn't have you facing in my direction while holding you," Elaina said nervously. It made her curious though. Was it a water pokemon, or a dragon type? Perhaps it was both. After thinking long and hard, Elaina decided to ask the little creature a question. "Say, you wanna come home with me?" The little pokemon pondered for a moment and then gave her a nod with a squeak. Elaina smiled, pulling out the last Safari ball, and pressing it gently against the pokemon's head. Then within a few seconds, the ball clicked in her hand. "Well, that's the last one! Time to go home, Ira," Elaina had said, finally making her way out of the safari zone and back to Mauville.
