And so everyone arrived before the structure. She had scouted as much of the external area as she could while the others had caught up but the fact that there was nothing active outside was the most she could really catch on to before the others had made it. She would have loved to probe the outside further, assess the damage, and assess what caused it all, but that would have to wait for now.

What mattered at this point was that the only unknown left was the inside of the wreckage.

The others had attempted to try to shift the role of the first to enter onto anyone that was not them. At least that was what she was hearing before she landed down next to the group.

"Keep watching from the air, Tiamat. Let us know if anything pops up." With a simple nod, the Flygon was back in the air again. All the while, the young woman was about to ready herself as a volunteer. She was hardly the sporty or athletic type, but being able to be in front meant she got to see a few more details more clearly as she entered.

However, all intent was shattered as one of the others had bravely volunteered himself to be the first to go. A bit disappointing, but the privilege inevitably went to the one who vied for it.

As such, she merely followed closely behind Sigurd who was being as cautious as he could be while not trying to rattle anything that could be hiding.

"So far it's clear."

"Good man." Doug said as he clapped Sigurd Holst's shoulder... And shoved him ahead. "Off you go!"

Waving the man away passionately, the youth cupped his hands around his mouth.

"I'll make sure you get that double- no, triple promotion!" He shouted, giving Holst a double thumbs up. "Don't worry, you won't be alone!"

Since Elaine Highland looked eager to follow and what not!

"... Right, we should probably follow 'em." He said after a moment, adjusting his hat, before giving maverick noah ryder a grin. "Shall we?"

He jogged after his other companions, quickly catching up to the rest of the Scooby Gang as he dipped his head down and ducked underneath an opening, squinting at the dark inside.

The narrow corridor stretched into the depths of the ancient ship, cloaked in impenetrable darkness. Only faint glimmers of light seeped through the cracks in the hull, casting elusive shadows that danced along the walls adorned with cryptic symbols. The air hung heavy with the scent of time, a musty, pungent odor that suggested at just how long the vessel had been gracing the desert's sands.

"Ominous! Ominous! _Ominous..." The young Colonel's voice echoed down the metallic hallway, followed by an amused snicker.

A moment later, the darkness around them was gently pushed away as a neon pink glow emerged from the soldier's palm, the scales glimmering like embers.

"I actually have a flashlight." The youth said, admitting shamelessly that he was showing off.

Dark and cramped. The thought of going in there didn’t please Sigurd at all, especially so as the ‘ominous’ echo bounced off the walls.

And yet Sigurd had made a promise to go first. So he did. One cautious step after the other, one hand sliding against the wall for believed safety.

At least it isn’t damp here… Sigurd thought, as he quickly glanced backward just in time to see the appearance of the neon pink light.

Eyes blinded in pink, he returned his gaze to the path ahead. Stumbling his way as he tried to regain his vision while leading the path ahead.

Doug helpfully grabbed onto Sigurd Holst's shoulder after the man stumbled, before assisting the guy in his efforts as lead scout by giving him yet another shove forward.

As they crept deeper into the vessel, the narrow, dilapidated corridors they trudged through finally ended on a pair of rusted, half open side gates.

Looking them up and down, the youth glanced over at the rest of his companions, before walking up to the doors and grabbing one side.

"Awright everyone, on the count o' three." He said, grinning.

Whether his companions helped or he was forced to break his back pulling it open on his own, the gates would eventually be forced open, leading the crew into a vast chamber. Aentral hub from which the rest of the ship branched out. Control panels flickered with minimal residual energy, the megalopolan glyphs glowing faintly in the dimness. Dust had settled heavily over everything, obscuring any hint of the vessel's original sheen.

Etched into a the ceiling were megalopolan glyphs that read 'Angelum Lucis'. Whatever the heck that meant.

2nd Expedition

After being bathed in a gentle pink light that illuminated the narrow corridors, the group had continued to press ever forward. Even as they moved down corridors that looked as if they had not been walked through in ages, with a few occasional stumbles, they eventually arrived upon a set of half open doors.

Needless to say, the group had seemingly gotten over its momentary stint of cowardice as one of them took the first stride towards attempting to open the door. As such, weaker though she may have been, Elaine worked her back and arms to help open up one of the doors. She had grabbed alongside the group's leader and pulled the door.

As the door opened, she found her sight greeted by the chamber she could only surmise was either the bridge or a separate control center.

"It's amazing anything still functions at this point." Elaine shrugged as she took a seat next to central panel. "Well, I guess function is a bit too powerful of an overstatement."

Nevertheless, she began to tap away at some of the keys hoping they would yield some fruit. She was hardly able to understand any of the text that was lit up but she was sure hitting keys would trigger...well, something.

Ever onward. This was the way. When they came to rusty looking door, it seemed all was quick and eager to help in prying the thing open. Even Sigurd put everything into pulling the door open, one way or the other.

And the group succeeded.

He followed them all into the chamber. He had a bad feeling about this, yet it didn’t stop him from walking in and investigating the place. From time to time he would turn his gaze to the other ones there, in particular Elaine who had decided to press random buttons until something happened.

Every bone in Doug's body seemed to ache as Elaine Highland began to tap away at the buttons unprompted, a decade of kids' cartoons insisting in the back of his mind that it was a bad idea.

But nothing happened.

"Hooey." The youth breathed out in relief, leaning exagerattedly against maverick noah ryder as he swiped away at nonexistent sweat. "Thought we were 'boutta be goners—"

Yet.

There was a brief ripple through the ship as the lights on the bridge's ceiling flickered on and off, before—

Clang! Shhnk!

The doors slammed shut completely behind them, before suddenly slamming open, every door around them suddenly flying open before the console sparked and sputtered, every single light in the room dying out.

"... Well then." Doug's voice came a moment after. "At least the doors are all open now?"

fffffffWOOOOOSH!

The sounds of powerful winds and sand slamming against the ship's hull reached them without warning. Luckily, they were standing on the bridge; they could see through the ship's cracked windshield the sandstorm that was beginning to rock the desert as it took form.

"... Uh oh."

In retrospect, she had counted herself fortunate. Usually, pressing buttons on a console you never worked with would be a risky idea at best. Thankfully, the most she had done was open more doors. She should have counted her lucky stars that she had not caused it to launch up into space but in reality, the fact that it was in this state meant that even hitting a few random buttons would never have done that.

Unfortunately, even though she had opened the doors to the derelict facility, they were not out of the wood yet.

"Tch."

Tiamat would be fine outside, but there was no way that she could call her to help out from the outside. There had to be a way to...

"Shutters...come on."

She continued on in her reckless pursuit of hitting buttons.

Sigurd noticed the look maverick noah ryder sent him, and returned it with a look of his own. Though before he could voice his uncertainties about what Elaine Highland was doing, Maverick did so.

With each tap of the keys Sigurd’s gut feeling grew increasingly uneasy. And it didn’t grow less so when all the doors sprang open. But what followed after that was perhaps the more unsettling thing.

Screens turned on, displaying symbols Sigurd did not recognise. Meanwhile a voice began to blare out from speakers hidden somewhere in words unknown to him.

For the Megalopolan-native-tongue initiated they would hear

INITIATING RECAPTURE SEQUENCE OF FOREIGN LIFEFORMS, PLEASE FIND YOUR DESIGNATED SAFETY POD.

For those uninitiated the blinking red screens and odd unfriendly symbols would surely be enough to get the alarm bells ringing. Unfortunately seconds later a mild gaseous sleeping agent was spread throughout the room.

Due to the state of the ship the dispersal of the sleeping agent was shoddy at best. Unfortunately for Sigurd however, he found himself standing right next to one of the dispersal units and so got a faceful of sleeping agents right in the gob.

He inhaled the stuff without thinking much of it.

And then he fell to the ground knocked out, sleeping soundly.

And as he slept a dream came to him.

He was walking through the eternal desert. Head held high as the sun beamed down upon him. Constantly moving forward, searching for something or someone.

Then the ground began to quake, the world was torn asunder, moving about as if some giant god was playing with the tectonic plates.

A shadow rose behind him, hiding him. And as he turned he saw titan made of rock, towering above him, blinking and beeping in words he could not comprehend.

“WHAT ARE YOU? WHAT DO YOU WANT?” He screamed.

No answer but beeps.

And then he would wake up hours later, screaming and sweating like a waterfall.

When Sigurd Holst came to, they were no longer in the megalopolan vessel.

This was HQ's medical bay.

"Woah, woah, calm down!" Came as a figure suddenly rushed into the tent. "You okay?"

It was the Lt. Colonel, and as he paused to look the blonde over, he sighed in relief.

"Hoooey, n'here I thought ya looked lika ya were enjoyin' the sleep." Doug said as moved to take a seat on one of the beds besides the one Holst was rested on. "Oh— we had to carry you back. Or, teleport you back...? Anyway, you were asleep for that part."

Doug scratched at his cheek.

"We were trapped inside, what with the storm and all... so I teleported everyone back to base." He explained, before tilting his head. "What's got you so tilted though, man?"

Seemed like the mission was over... for now.
