Bryan had been curious to try and gain a deeper understand of Xerneas and his relationship on a...biological level. [break][break]

Whenever Xerneas took too much damage bryan would begin to feel it himself...did it work in reverse? Why did that happen at all? What the hell was it's deal? All these answers and more were going to soon be available to him as Bryan stood in the crater where the former tree of life stood. [break][break]

Xerneas stood besides him in his neutral form. "Are you sure you're ok with this? The rocket scientists aren't exactly...the most ethical." [break][break]

'Young Delarosa, Rocket saved one from a fate worse than death itself, a state of eternal torture. One owes it to them to it to assist in anyway we can both see fit.' he says as he looks down upon Bryan with that same stare
'you seem more on edge about it than I' he says as it's x pupils fixate on his avatar, still wanting to nuture and care for bryan and his goals.[break][break]

He simple grumbled as he recalled his last interactions with Lulu Flint and that damned infinity energy machine. "We make them fully explain what they do before we agree to anything alright?" [break][break]

leaving a shadow nearby, she approached the crater. her eyes were pinned on xerneas. she hadn’t seen much of it since the tree had been very much alive. such a strong source of infinity energy, it was an exceptionally interesting specimen.[break][break]

Nomi followed after Lulu, approaching the test site with a mix of caution and curiosity.[break][break]
Xerneas was a truly beautiful creature. The rainbow horns, the midnight black fur, eyes that seemed to reflect back galaxies of ancient knowledge. It was rather amusing to Nomi that Xerneas had chosen one such as Bryan - where Xerneas was delicate, Bryan was bulky. Two very different aesthetics, the contrast stark and fascinating. There's something on the inside that's aligned, she intuited.[break][break]
The opportunity to study the Legendary was fortuitous indeed. She was grateful that Bryan had agreed to let them do so, and that Xerneas had also consented. The memory of Lugia's PRESSURE when she'd asked the same of Cillian Quinn still triggered a mild headache. It seemed Xerneas had not been traumatized in quite the same way she had.[break][break]
"It is a pleasure to meet you," Nomi said, bowing her head to Xerneas in respect. Beside her, Valerian did the same, the shiny Sylveon's attitude melting away when confronted with one of the most powerful of his kind.[break][break]
"Hello, Bryan." A simple greeting, accompanied by a small smile and eager eyes.

Bryan nods to her "Hello lulu." he says as Xerneas bows to her, noting the inky darkness that lingered a bit too long on her "Ah Young Miss flint, one hopes to find you in good health. Hopefully that ghost that haunts you has been treating you well?" he says being cordial with the woman since this was the first time he spoke with her one on one. [break][break]

"Perfect health, I can't complain." he responds as Bryan mentally thanks Xerneas for saving him several trips to the borders. "Been shot in the head, stabbed through the stomach by Killian Decker, thrown against a tree by THEO BECKETT, slammed into the floor by Martín del Mar. Seems like rockets are killing me more often than the league by accident." he chuckles slightly as the pain from those incidents still lingered when he thought about it like a phantom. [break][break]

He eyes linger slowly over to the young woman in that rather cute outfit, and her stylish sylveon that had accompanied her, a fellow fairy type trainer perhaps? "Yo, you rocket's newest mad scientist?" he jokes as Bryan gives the widest shit eating grin he could muster. Xerneas by stark contrast disapproves of his statement but decides to respond to her with the same respect he gave her "Hello. One takes great pleasure in our meeting."

her attention was split when she asked bryan a little distractedly, ”you died three times?” killed, by their underbosses no less, but same difference. ”our bodies aren't meant for these powers, you know. you should be more careful.”[break][break]

she listened to introductions, feeling some unexpected swell of pride in nomi and her talent. she’d been pleased to hear the decision on her promotion.

To Nomi's utter shock, Xerneas spoke directly to her. The voice was calm, polite, and somewhat ethereal as it entered her mind. She blushed; to be addressed so directly by one so powerful was an honor. She wondered if all Legendaries could speak like this - did Cillian Quinn converse with Lugia in a similar manner? It seemed Darkrai did not communicate with Lulu in this way, which the other woman admitted.[break][break]
In contrast, the man standing beside Xerneas had a gruff voice with a crude humor, eyes dancing as he made his joke. Nomi rolled her eyes, but couldn't help but reply with a quiet "Yes, but the only mad scientist here is Lulu." A minor quip, but one she hoped would amuse Bryan. She winked at her mentor, flashing a small, apologetic smile.[break][break]
Where should they begin? There was much they could cover, but Nomi was curious about a few things in particular. Once, she would have followed Lulu's lead, deferring to the other woman to direct their line of questioning and experimentation. But Nomi had been promoted, and Nomi knew Lulu approved of it. Therefore, she ought to proceed without much delay.[break][break]
"Speaking of avoiding death," she began, eyeing Bryan. "One of the primary gifts bestowed upon you by Xerneas is that of rapid healing, correct? Regeneration?" The young woman cocked her head, curious. "Can you do it on demand, or only in reaction to being injured? Does it heal illness, or just physical wounds? What of status conditions - poison, paralysis, burns...can you revert those, too?"[break][break]
Perhaps she was a little overly eager. She couldn't help it; this was all so fascinating.

"It's been more than three." he scoffs "And half of them are from other reckless rocket's attacks against the league so chastize Theo Killian for me." He attention quickly shifts. [break][break]

He's overwhelmed by Naomi Sato's sudden insistence to know everything about his unique situation. He stares at her rather perplexed wondering if he should share it with her. Well, knowledge on it wouldn't exactly do much to change the fact he could use it right. "Uhhh.." he says looking at Lulu Flint for a second as he grew uncomfortable and his cheeks turned a slighter shade of red as bryan was often not flustered but he was forced to be nice to her. [break][break]

"I have increased healing capabilities and I can't die. I can heal others to perfect health but it has limits. I can also remove status conditions from myself and pokemon." he answers as he leaves out some extra abilities he has as Xerneas intervenes. "Young Miss Sato, One believed you had some inquiries as to Bryan and one's constitution, correct? One wishes to help rocket however one may but one's answers may not be as scientific as you desire. One believes that the thing you humans call...scientific method would be more effective." [break][break]

Bryan comes back to reality. "Yeah. and I don't do shit for free." He says crossing his arms as it was clear he was trying to put his tough guy persona back on "I expect a keg of beer."

Bryan's blush was rather endearing. Nomi suppressed a giggle as he grew flustered. She hadn't meant to overwhelm him, but the result was somewhat amusing.[break][break]
Though Bryan looked to Lulu for some kind of support, the other woman had stepped away, distracted by something on her phone. She waved for Nomi to continue with the session, disappearing into shadow as she was called away to some more urgent matter. Nomi was accustomed to this sort of thing. Lulu was an enigmatic woman who also happened to be in high demand these days due to her expertise regarding the Interdream Zone. The dream mist was the latest phenomenon taking Hoenn by storm.[break][break]
Nomi turned back to Bryan. It seemed she was now in charge of this meeting.[break][break]
"Well, you're in luck then," Nomi replied pleasantly, undisturbed by his rollercoaster of moods: embarrassment turned to acquiescence turned to a sudden demanding defiance. "I happen to own a small microbrewery."[break][break]
To Xerneas she said, "My apologies. You are right, the scientific method is far more appropriate than an interrogation. If it is allright with you - and Bryan - may I inflict Bryan with various ailments and see how he reacts in real time?"[break][break]
She flashed the pair a bright smile.

She ran a microbrewery? He walked over to her and slung his arm around her shoulder. "I like you already kid." he says despite the fact she was a fully grown adult and they were the same age a couple months ago. [break][break]

"As long as it's not some super over grown other worldly shit. I'll do it." he says with a small smirk as Xerneas sighs in disappointment "One would rather not see him go through such trials. But if it serves to benefit rocket as a whole then one will give his blessing." he says as he slowly lowers himself to sit down and observe the events before him. [break][break]

He looks back to Nomi "Well there ya have it, I want that beer keg ready for right after." he says as he crosses his arms and sits down as well, following Nomi's lead.

The arm over her shoulder caught her by surprise, and Nomi crashed into his bulk as he pulled into a friendly half-hug. Guess he really liked beer. She smiled awkwardly, then attempted to politely extract herself from his grasp. Well, at least they were getting along now.[break][break]
"I'll take you there after this, if you want," she assured him.[break][break]
Xerneas gave Nomi its blessing as it settled into the grass nearby to observe. Valerian padded over to it, and without even an ounce of humbled shame, took a seat next to the legendary - as if he belonged beside one so regal. The sight made Nomi smile, amused.[break][break]
"Don't worry, nothing too "other-wordly"," she remarked, taking out a few Pokeballs. She released Ginger (Alolan Raichu), Trillium (Togekiss), and Oleander (Oranguru).[break][break]
"What I'd like to do first, is see how your body reacts to various changes in terrain and weather."[break][break]
The trial began as she directed her Pokemon to create various terrain effects where Bryan was standing, one after the other. First an ELECTRIC TERRAIN, which caused electricity to crackle and spark under Bryan's feet, dangerously capable of electrocuting a normal perosn. Next, a SUNNY DAY which brightened the area with hot sunlight. It shone directly onto the Rocket Beast: the sort of heat that might burn a normal person if they weren't careful. She slips out of his grasp like a tiny little weasel escaping into it's burrow. [break][break]

he raises an eyebrow as she summons several pokemon at once, A togekiss an Alolan Raichu and an oranguru. He eyes them up and down as he braces himself. [break][break]

At first, he screams as the electricity burns his body and crackles across it burning him as strands of electric arc and flowed. As the terrain fades, Bryan falls to his knees as pieces of his burnt flesh fell off of his body, replaced by fresh and supple new skin. "Jesus fuckin christ that isn't very safe you know I still feel pa-" he tries to say as suddenly the sunny day flies out and threatens to burn him alive as he feels the intense sun begin to burn him again. [break][break]

"AHHH God damn it!" he shouts as he grits his teeth and bears it as steam comes off of his body as his clothes begin to burn as well and rip as tussels of threads curled up and blackened in it's rays and he flops onto his face as he passes out of dehydration. [break][break]

As the sunny day fades, he eventually sits up and gasps as he is brought back as the borders rejects him once more. "Jesus CHRIST NOMI WAIT-" he says as suddenly the Psychic terrain wrings out and his expression grows blank and he's frozen in place. Yet mere moments later, he snaps out of it again and stands up. "ARE YOU DONE?" [break][break]

Xerneas watches the entire time eventually sighing as he watches his chosen one suffers these afflictions for a temporary reprieve.

In her eagerness to get started, it did not occur to her that being unable to die didn't necessarily mean bryan delarosa did not feel pain.[break][break]

"My apologies," she said quickly, smiling sheepishly. The apology was, in part, directed at Xerneas. Though she sounded repentant, her crimson eyes flashed with excitement. Everything she had just witnessed had been quite fascinating, indeed.[break][break]
"You really can't die," she marveled. Not that she'd actually been trying to kill him...but she supposed that the power of various Pokémon abilities and attacks might be too much for a mortal body even in small doses. Bryan, however, was not mortal - not exactly.[break][break]
"Do you see it?" She breathed, curious. Ginger, the Alolan Raichu, sent a dose of CALM MIND at Bryan; he might have physically healed from the sudden assault, but a little extra relaxation couldn't hurt.[break][break]
"Whenever you die, do you see what comes next? A glimpse of some kind of afterlife? Or is there...nothing?"

Actually, that was a fair question. No one had asked him that yet so he takes a moment to collect himself and shake off all the powders, dirt, and side effects those moves had on him. [break][break]

"Actually. it sounds morbid but. No, I don't see anything." he says despite the fact that it was confirmed there is an afterlife, they could literally go visit the borders of life and death. It was something that could be undone as well with blue mulch. [break][break]

"All I see is black, like I fell asleep and then I just blip back into being awake." He says as he wonders if Xerneas would share anything else. But as always, the deer was as cryptic as always.

"Fascinating," Nomi murmured. Perhaps Bryan would have expected her to be unnerved by the prospect of a pitch black nothingness after death, but she merely took it in stride. A scientist collected data, and disliking the results of an experiment didn't make them any less true.[break][break]
"You likely aren't given enough time to adequately cross over," she mused, considering what she knew of ghosts. "Xerneas's power pulls you back to the realm of the living before your soul has time to attach to the realm of the dead."[break][break]
She glanced at the legendary deer, wondering if it would be willing to confirm or deny her guess. The Border existed, and Nomi had heard wonderous tales of regular folks not blessed by Xerneas coming back to life after near-death experiences. There was so much they still did not understand about death; if there was anyone that could enlighten them, surely it was the elegant creature sitting with them.[break][break]
"I owe you a beer," she realized, turning to Bryan, shaking herself from the contemplative reverie she had begun to spiral into. "You've definitely earned it."
