Gotta get your own personal mythos out there into the public consciousness before you break into the mainstream. Gotta sow the seeds or you can't reap the rewards. Your story begins as it always does - In Spikemunth, that desolate little heap. On that miserly little Christmas Day, Paul Meatles came into the world. Really, you might as well have been born directly into a trash can. A run-down slum of a town that was hardly any place for a child to grow up. Yet, grow up there you did. It was not a glamorous life. It was not a luxurious origin. It was not warm or kind or fulfilling. It couldn't be called "good" in any sense of the word. Frankly, when the time came and you were offered the chance to go on your own Pokemon adventure, you were glad to be able to leave.[break][break]

The name was the first thing to go. "Paul Meatles" is not a cool name. It is not the name you wanted nor deserved. It was not the name befitting a future Pokemon champion. No, that was when you became Shred Zeppelin. Yeah, that was your real, true name. Paul Meatles might have been the name of your body, but Shred Zeppelin? That was the name of your soul.[break][break]

The next thing to go was your optimism. Turns out, raising Pokemon, training Pokemon, battling Pokemon? It's all really fuckin' hard. Despite all your enthusiasm, your wins dwindled and your losses piled up. It was hard to stay positive when you were flunking out of every gym you visited. Really brought a hammer to your dreams, y'know?[break][break]

Then, to replace what you'd lost, came the hedonism. Balls to it. If you're not going to be important, then you might as well have fun, right? If you can't be loved, then you may as well love yourself. You weren't gonna be here for a long time, so you might as well be here for a good one, right? Candle in the wind. Burn bright and fizzle early.[break][break]

After you decided that, most of your memories just merge into an indistinct blur. Bright lights and shining colours, headaches and vomiting, a sweet pit in your stomach and a burning at the back of your throat. Boat rides and jail time. Different sights in different places. Good times and plenty of crimes. Stories? Sure, you have them. Anecdotes? Plenty. But memories... Somewhere along the line, you think you might've flushed those down the toilet. You're not sure. Hard to say.[break][break]

With every day that passed, people treated you less fondly. Before you knew it, you weren't a boy anymore, but a man, and people didn't take kindly to a forty year old galavanting about and getting into trouble.[break][break]

Forty... You're forty now. That hurts.[break][break]

Maybe it wouldn't hurt to try again? Sure, Paul Meatles couldn't become Pokemon champion. Hell, he couldn't earn a single gym badge. But maybe Shred Zeppelin can crack that nut? Maybe he'll succeed where all the others failed?[break][break]
