Colton could only shrug as Shalin described the difficulty she had in catching her Ninetales and, while he wasn't going to necessarily say that it wasn't fun, he didn't think following in her footsteps was something he was particularly keen on doing. He could barely catch Pokemon normally, much less while desperately holding on to them as they bucked around.

"Got anything you would consider your 'white whale,' in terms of catching Pokemon that way?" he asked, looking towards the Klang that was now floating by. He looked to Arti, the Rotom looking a bit scuffed, but overall not too worn out. He gave a nod of his head towards the mechanical wild, feeling confident that, at least after today, his partner had gained a decent bit of battle sense compared to what they both had before.

To his credit, Arti lifted up off the ground, its trademark grin on its face as it zipped towards the Klang. In a burst of static, it released a THUNDER WAVE, paralyzing the Pokemon before it even knew what was going on, followed by a swift HEX that sent it tumbling to the ground. A Pokéball soon sailed over the Rotom's body, landing on the Klang and enveloping it in a flash of red light.

Shalin Nariya

Shalin and Letheia both smiled at Colton's question. "Funny you ask; it's actually Letheia here," she answered. "If that Mudbray didn't wear me out so much, I'd give you a demonstration!" As she mentioned it, she felt the Ninetales' EXTRASENSORY-powered psychic harness mentally strap her on. She gave the ice-type a gentle pat. "Now Letheia, I don't know if I'd be able to give the best demonstration now. Had I known we were doing this, I'd have brought Levy here for his Life Dew. Gimme a few to recover, then you can thrash away."

While Colton was engaged in his battle, Shalin shifted about in Letheia's saddle the best she could, trying to get a feel for how much give and take the mental harness had. There was enough play that she could pivot some, though not as much as she could with a physical cocoon saddle. Once she recovered, this was gonna be fun.

Colton returned her smiling, nodding in understanding at her answer. That was certainly quite the achievement, one that he hoped he would be able to reach himself. Though, he wasn't quite sure what his "white whale" would be. There were hundreds and hundreds of Pokemon, after all. Maybe he wouldn't know until he found it.

With his battle complete, Colton turned back to see Shalin mounting up on her Ninetales. "O-Oh, if you're worn out, then you don't have to push yourself with a demonstration!" he said. "There will be other times! One where you're less likely to hurt yourself."

Colton offered a reassuring smile when the sound of an engine revving drew his attention. Instinctively, his hand went to Burnout's Pokéball, pulling from it from his waist and, as expected, his Revavroom was still there. He raised an eyebrow, only for the engine revving to be joined by heavy stomping, the sources revealed to be a Varoom and a Duraludon.

As Arti, still floating by and ready to go, was already releasing its THUNDER WAVE to paralyze the steel dragon, Colton looked down at Burnout's Pokéball as it wiggled indignantly, almost as if he was aware that another one of his species was around. "Don't worry, buddy. I'm not replacing you," he said, placing the Pokéball back on his belt and replacing it with an empty one. Then, as Arti HEXED the Duraludon, he tossed the ball at the wild, enveloping it in bright red light.

Colton did have a point. Shalin was already pretty tired from wrangling the Mudbray. Sometimes, she needed another person to tell her when to stop. "You're right," she reluctantly agreed. "I'm sure there will be plenty of times we'll get to see each other again!"

The psychic harness didn't let up at all, though. Not to strap her in to prevent her from falling as Letheia flung her around like she wanted, but to strap her in to prevent her from falling off from being too worn down during the long ride home. She was a long way from Petalburg Woods, after all! Waving goodbye to Colton, Shalin reined her Ninetales westward, coaxing her into a relatively gentle run.
