their defenses for the wild pokemon look like it's out of place now with how the garden expanded even beyond the confines of the fencing.

wolfgang looks at it weird as he stares back at him. while even roses have thorns, those thorns don't necessarily make the rose ugly, much like how this electric fence does to their garden. it doesn't help that it's pretty much recycled material to save the costs.

"oi, you deal with flowers, right?" he tells elijah gardner, who he dragged here upon seeing the explosion of growth. "what does that stone mean?"

he points at the slab of stone in the middle. it definitely wasn't there the last time he visited.

BEFORE YOU, THE STONE LAYS BARE. However, if you were to look closely, you would begin to see the words beginning to etch themselves on the top of the stone. As morsels of stone fall from its pristine face to reveal a simple command:[break]

Flowers begin to visibly grow around the rock, curling gently like affectionate bracelets. They curve toward the rock face like arrows.

OBJECTIVE:

they could bicker for as long as they want, but the origin of the stone wasn't going to solve itself. he snarls under his breath as he approaches it, eyes squinting as he sees words start to appear etched on its surface.

it's as if something supernatural beckoned him to the stone. he wouldn't have vandalized it otherwise, but he takes out a pocket knife and starts to inscribe a name out of instinct.

boris

he huffs from his nose as soon as the deed is done. no surname was written, nor any other indication of the person besides a given name. he leaves it at that, making no other action that would have spilled himself out to the other person he's with.

wolfgang turns to elijah. "don't judge me for this." it's an impulsive decision to carve the rock, though he doesn't feel any regret in doing so.

THE STONE ACCEPTS YOUR NAME(S). Suddenly, the wind billows around you, carrying with it, the softest spring scent. Petals are cradled in these gossamer gales. Colors swirl around, the displaced flowers like gentle jewels painted by nature's own brush.[break]

The GRACIDEA FLOWER is uprooted. Gently. It beckons for you to take it carefully within your hands. As soon as you do, a path of flowers erupts from the stone's northern face. It extends far and into the air. A magical bridge connects Hoenn to a fantastical place hidden by the power of canonized gratitude.

Follow the bridge. Quickly, before it disappears underneath your feet.

he stares at elijah's answer, and the reasoning doesn't make sense either. "that's so shallow."

maybe he's just a romantic that expected things to have meaning, but even something as superficial as elijah's response to it elicits a response from the stone.

whether elijah doesn't actually have friends or not is put at the back of his thoughts for now in lieu of the flower.

as with the stone, wolfgang instinctively takes it, where it soon blooms to something beyond this world. he blinks at it, his logic dictating him to stay away from it, but the invitation was too strong to ignore.

"tsk."

his riolu follows him as soon as he chases it. he raises a hand, ready to copycat any help he feels that would come from elijah as an emanation pokemon.

the pokemon RAPID SPINS, floating joyously as it releases bits of cotton fluff and winds for elijah, wolfgang and his riolu to pursue.[break][break]

GRATITUDE AMONG FLOWERS

YOU FOLLOW THE FLORAL BRIDGE. With every step, the flowers spring out beneath you taking root in nothing but air. However, the garden trail behind you disappears. Flowers fade into green bokeh— perhaps, the residue of some fantastical grass-type energy. By the end of this seemingly endless trail, you find yourself seemingly high above the clouds. And in a secluded airborne island.

In its center, the island's field is filled with GRACIDEA FLOWERS, but there are stretches of dirt that are devoid of any plant. Any root. However, a couple shapes shift through the flowery abode.

ELIJAH'S SHAYMIN

Whatever they are, you are compelled to find them with your own GRACIDEA FLOWER in hand.

OBJECTIVE:

STONE WRITING

write a post that has your trainer's pokemon using ODOUR SLEUTH or SWEET SCENT to find the hidden Shaymin. You must also find the Shaymin in the image above. Once you have found it, please DM or PM shiv on Discord or the Site with the location of the Shaymin.

they are led to a field of flowers on a floating island. wolfgang has always tried to evade any of hoenn's weird happenings in lieu of a peaceful life, though he did walk in on this voluntarily.

at least it isn't as dangerous as anything else, bar the magical island they're on having the risk of it disappearing statistically the same as it appearing.

as mesmerizing takes place, a sudden movement takes his attention. "the fuck's that?!"

it was small, and unassuming, but probably not as harmless given that every pokemon shared the same level of threat for a human. still, he has a riolu with him.

"let's go get that shit," he tells elijah. "fucker got us here. it'll probably get us down as well."

he starts wading through the flowers with his riolu helplessly tailing along. he waits for another opportunity to help his trainer, his copycat ready for any move elijah might throw.

perhaps to wolfgang volkov's surprise, he would notice that elijah seems at rest here. he's less tense. the marvel of it all seeps into his feet from the fertile ground, travels up vein and artery like vine and blossom. the smallest smile tugs at his lips.[break][break]

"uh, right. yeah. where is that little fuck." elijah recalls his pokemon in favour of his victreebel.[break][break]

the victreebel thuds against the earth, and despite its horrid appearance, releases the SWEET(EST) SCENT. overwhelmingly sugary waves of perfumed pleasant smells waft across the field...

AS YOU SEEK THE SHAPES HIDDEN IN THE FLOWERS, the burgeoning plot is adorned with more color. More life. The floral bridge has communicated and conveyed your own gratitude into this field... Lured out or discovered, Shaymin face you in gratitude for your visit— and in contest.

It has green grass-like fur bristles. The flowers on its body open more wide, revealing their deepest colors. You gain the sense that the Shaymin would like to battle you to see if you are worthy of its companionship. However, there is a caveat outlined by the other hedgehogs.

You must not damage the flowers. You must fight with grace and care— but this does not mean the Shaymin is an easy fight. Crying out, it fires a potent SEED FLARE at you, a shockwave of energy bursting from its small body and stopping right before the gracidea.

BATTLE SHAYMIN:

CAREFUL OF THE FLOWERS!

WITH EVERY POST, make a ROLL. you must hit or surpass a collective total of 125 to successfully battle the Shaymin without damaging the flowers. Afterward, you will be allowed to capture it!

elijah eventually lures the shaymin out of its hiding while his riolu tries its best to help. as it pops its head out, wolfgang realizes he hasn't seen anything else similar to it.

"what kinda pokemon's that?" he asks. "funky."

as small as it was, its attack was inversely proportional to its size. the warning shot blasts through just above wolfgang's face, taking a step back and almost trampling over a patch of gracidea.

he clicks his tongue.

"i hope you're a good battler, cause i sure ain't."

his head turns to his riolu, motioning for it to rush the attacker with a jerk of his jaw. he hasn't really trained it in fights, but it's the best he has at the moment if he was to preserve the flowers.

paws rush to the shaymin right away, readying a force palm to fling it out of its hiding place.

he's never heard of a pokemon like that. if people had them, they certainly didn't flaunt them like they do with pokemon like urshifu and those fancy ultra beasts.

"i don't like that sarcasm..." he says with a scowl on his expression.

the volume ramps up afterwards, unable to contain his thoughts. "if i ever start one, i'm beatin' this shaymin up first, then you're gonna go second!"

he sharply turns to the action, where their pokemon faces against the shaymin. another seed flare is fired their way, with wolfgang jumping out of the way with his riolu.

"shit, don't ya have anythin' useful from afar?" he asks his riolu.

it raises a paw, boosting the victreebel with helping hand. the answer to wolfgang's question was a no.
