the temptation to just ride in on the back of tilly nearly won out. but francie opted for a more up front approach. something a bit more hands on.[break][break]

instead of sneaking around or flying in from above and leaving herself vulnerable, francie took to the ground and decided to make her way up the side of the building using louie's ability to rock climb.[break][break]

letting go of his fur once they were at the top, francie lands on her feet and looks up at the com tower. it is apparently something that team rocket is using to communicate while they explore the surrounding area.[break][break]

"great job louie." she whispers into the dusk lycanroc's ear. "now we just gotta take this thing out."

Some people would grow disillusioned with Rocket after the events of Meteno, hell, PTSD was vibrant. The reality of it was, Ashley lost two things that day. Two Pokemon, the trust of a friend, and nearly his life.[break][break]

But instead of turning away, he hardened, and now he stood here, protecting the comm tower, a means to keep information flowing to Rocket. If he wanted to get higher-up, he had to keep it safe, Luckily for him, and unluckily for a a blonde woman who approached much more directly with a Rock Climb. And deciding to cut her off on top of the building itself, flying upwards by grabbing the legs of his Noivern, Bass, the one-eyed dragon flies takes off into the sky.[break][break]

Ashley lands nearby, bending his knees to not hurt him on the fall. His mouth and nose, covered by a black face-mask, a baseball worn backwards to obscure anything but silver eyes.[break][break]

"Heyy there. 'fraid I'm gonna have to ask you to leave." He was gonna at least take this in a much more diplomatic way, as he stands between her and her goal, eyes on the Lycanroc. He feels bad for the dog.[break][break]

He doesn't like hurting dogs.[break][break]

His Noivern, one eye slashed out and the other staring from behind the silver haired man looks menacingly. A quiet bassline dropping from behind him. "Easy way or hard way, blondie? One way or the other, the only way is back down." His eyes are cold, a light missing from that gaze.

as she leans up from whispering in his ear, louie’s fur bristles and he lets out a low growl. it is one of warning, one that indicates he’s not about to back down.[break][break]

francie’s own smile compliments louie’s confidence, shining her own. truth is, she’s not traumatized from past events. she’s going into these missions and this postdormitum happy as a clamperl.[break][break]

the man says hello, asks her to leave, and then tells her there’s two options. she doesn’t even consider the idea of a loss, instead beaming at him in return.[break][break]

"well, you know what they say about gemstones. harder the trials, more polished the stone, right?"[break][break]

with that, louie barks in agreement before standing before francie, crating a barrier between the two people. his eyes ever on the noivern, watching carefully, waiting to strike whenever the opportunity presents itself.[break][break]

"we vote hard way, mister! let's see whatcha got!"

The smile is enough to warm anyone's heart, and Ash was no different. Though his mouth was obscured, for a moment, he feels himself frown at what he has to do. He has to win. It doesn't make this any easier, against someone so eager.[break][break]

This is what that training was for.[break][break]

Doesn't mean he can't be at least cordial, but between the Lycanroc and the Noivern, this fight was going to get underway, and Ash points towards the pup. "Double Team." The Noivern, accordingly, utilizes DOUBLE TEAM to showcase his speed, afterimages appearing around the woman and her dog. Ashley wasn't going to attack yet, but he would ensure it was difficult to get an attack in. As the wind begins to move from the sheer speed around them, he crosses his arms.[break][break]

"Try to keep up, blondie."

francie commends the move used, not letting the moody and broody aura from the other bother her chipper personality. sort of seems like his 'so be it' only fuels her confidence, actually.[break][break]

"alright louie, let's get a little more serious huh? it's an oldie, but a goodie. rock climb!"[break][break]

instead of going for the noivern, the dusk lycanroc heads straight for the tower. if the noivern wants to attack, it'll have to be it's true image. if the rocket wanted the tower protected, it would have to have its noivern attack. once it did, francie could have her lycanroc properly get a hit in.[break][break]

for now, he bolts for the tower, climbing up it by creating small rock formations under his paws, damaging the structure as he goes.[break][break]

She's... too chipper. It's almost infectious. Ash can't help but give a smile underneath the mask, and a sigh. Was she just one of those battle-heads?[break][break]

He's one to talk.[break][break]

As the Lycanroc scales the tower, Ashley looks to Bass and smiles. "Fly above, and confuse it." The Noivern nods, and stops their afterimages. It was true, this woman had gotten Ashley's strategy to fail, but that didn't mean he had to hurt the dog.[break][break]

With a lovely SUPERSONIC above the Lycanroc, aimed down, Bass attempted to fire off, landing on the comms tower and hanging off like a bat. A wonky bass drop, let's see how well that dog handles that.[break][break]

Ashley turns to her. "..."[break][break]

A less Rocket Ashley would tell her he didn't intend to hurt her, but he does thumb the pistol in his inner jacket pocket. He decide against it. He wasn't that far gone. Not yet.[break][break]

"Make sure he hits the ground, and hard." Ashley calls out to Bass.

the confusion hits, the way the guy reacts and orders his pokémon, it should phase francie. she should get nervous. she should feel like she needs to try better.[break][break]

but instead, she's smiling. she watches louie get hit with the supersonic and furrows her brows in thought, trying to work through what she should do. her lycanroc is confused, whining as he suddenly sees even more than the original noivern.[break][break]

"louie, you're alright!" she warns him before cupping her hands over her mouth. "throw a fit if you gotta!"[break][break]

the words echo through the dusk lycanroc's head a few times but he's losing grip. in an effort to try and gain his footing back, or perhaps complete the task of at least destroying the damn tower, he let's loose a stomping tantrum, the confusion of it all causing his attack to hit the tower more than anything else as his body tumbled down and landed atop the building.[break][break]

"you're okay boy! hang in there! try and snap out of it!" [break][break]

With the confusion, Ashley is sure the pup is about to crash to earth. It works, but not without its own troubles. That is to say, the STOMPING TANTRUM makes him click his tongue. Dammit. It worked out in her favor. Yes, damage to the Lycanroc was good, but the tower suffered. Which meant...[break][break]

Ashley was still holding back.[break][break]

He bites the inside of his cheek, and points down to the ground, as the Noivern speeds down back to hover above the air. He turns to Francie, and decides to let loose.[break][break]

"Knock it out. Air Slash." He orders, as the sound dragon begins to pulse from his ears again to force vibrations in the wind, slicing up every direction in his AIR SLASH, to cause a slicing wind to strike the confused pup. Ash turns towards Francie. Why am I still hesitating? He's grimacing now, silver eyes waiting to see what the blondie does next. Air Slash won't do much to the dog. Rock Type. He knows this. He has strong Dragon Moves that would overwhelm her, he figures.[break][break]

So then why?

knock it out? francie thinks, wondering what the other is thinking. an air slash doesn't do much damage, it won't be knocking her lyconroc out her louie... so does he mean, out of range of the tower?[break][break]

louie is weak, though. and the noivern likely knows more than just flying type moves. francie knows she needs to think quickly.[break][break]

"louie! snap out of it!" she calls, not looking to her opponent, but keeping her distance— rockets are tricky beings.[break][break]

with a whine, louie's knocked down and his head is spinning. he shakes his head, trying to snap out of his confusion, snorting his nose and letting out a low growl of protest.[break][break]

"there he is! rock climb, one more time! get close!"[break][break]

without using the tower, the dusk lycanroc pushes into the stone of the roof, power surging through all four legs. as his paws claw into the ground, stone begins to build with each step, allowing him to manipulate the ground enough to surge up, taking rocks with him as he leaps for the opposing noivern.

Ash is sure this pup isn't out of the running, not yet, but the thought she has another Pokemon, might prolong this battle. And so he says it, almost, as Louie snaps out of his confusion, snorting and growling. "Draco M-"[break][break]

And then Louie charges upwards, power surging to slap an unsuspecting dragon from the sky, and Bass is bashed by the Rock Climb dead on, and Ashley frowns, his Noivern spinning towards the ground.[break][break]

Last moment though, Ashley prepares something against the super-effective pup.[break][break]

"Remove your weakness. Roost."[break][break]

Bass grounds himself, healing as he stays upon the roof now, grabbing onto it, to prepare for war. He wasn't out in one go, thankfully, and with newfound vigor, this battle would no longer be shooting a monster out of the air.[break][break]

This was a battle on the ground, with the removal of Bass' Flying Type.[break][break]

"I commend you and your dog. Not a bad little pup." He laments towards Francie, crossing his arms. "But I can't let you stay here. Nothing personal to you." He tries to show a smile through his mask, as he reaches into his jacket.[break][break]

Unloaded, his pistol is out now. Not pointed at her, just a threat. An empty one. "Leave." He hopes his masked persona will keep himself from revealing his faltering poker face.[break][break]

He wouldn't shoot her. No. He couldn't.

one can almost make out the little ! that appears above her head when she sees the gun come out. it's happened before, a gun pointed at her. she's even been shot before. the scar stings, right side of her ribcage.[break][break]

there's an ache where that scar is and then a flash of red. a very large aerodactyl shape of red. as tilly forms, she bows up and flexes her muscles toward the individual holding a gun at her trainer. her screech is meant to make the man shoot her or piss himself; his choice.[break][break]

"tilly don't! louie, stop!"[break][break]

francie's orders fly from her mouth quickly. for louie had turned rom the noivern and was running toward the trainer with the guy. his body slid to a halt, however, growl low and menacing. tilly's body is still in a stature of intimidation. and while she might not have the ability, the circumstance is certainly enough to give her the element.[break][break]

climbing atop the aerodactyl, francie keeps all of her vitals behind a part of tilly. because ever inch is thick enough to protect her from a bullet. all but her head, of course.[break][break]

"i understand your situation, but i'm in a similar pickle. i can't leave the tower without canceling the communication.[break][break]

"but i mean, nobody told me how long the communication had to be cut out for. maybe, five minutes?"[break][break]

certainly they could both win, right?

Ash looks at the Aerodactyl, and stares blankly. For a moment, as it screeches at him to scare him, he looks into death blankly. Yet he never once raises the pistol. He just watches the beast roar in a defiant defensive posture, preparing at a moment's notice to snap him in half. Yet, Ashley doesn't move, and he doesn't show fear. He closes his eyes.[break][break]

He refrains from himself. And to her words, as though she was attempting to win for the two of them, he just laughs. It's an actual hearty laugh, as he takes a second to, in turn, allow his Rillaboom a moment out. Bongo, balancing on his fists on the ground and his legs, eyes the Aerodactyl and the Lycanroc, prepared to make a choice.[break][break]

"Why, aren't you an idealist. Heh."[break][break]

There's a moment of purity in his voice, as he yawns to himself. On the one hand, he's too tired to even have steady aim, but the threat alone changed the situation. That, was a well-timed threat he'd have to keep for later. But he takes a moment to squint with his silver eyes.[break][break]

"Tell you what. In the grand scheme of things, I'll give you three. And-" He holds out a Potion. "-you heal up... Louie, was it?" He's being sweet. It's negotiating. Yes, it's three minutes without communication. But he doesn't feel the need to hurt her. And, all things considered? He needs to save his own resources. Bass took a hefty blow.[break][break]

This woman was one of the good ones.[break][break]

But then the threatening Rocket comes back.[break][break]

"Any funny business, or too much collateral damage to the comm tower, and my gorilla here clips Tilly's wings, and I shoot you and Louie myself."[break][break]

Without the ability to view his facial expression, it is at most, hidden behind his mask. But, at the very least, he considered this a very, very light set of negotiations. After all, he wielded no weakness to Blondie's two beasts, and with Bongo, exemplified an advantage.

being called an idealist feels ... strange. not off, not odd, just a very different sort of strange. like she can't quite place if it belongs to her or not. as she doesn't see herself as an idealist.[break][break]

but then again, she's only recently been wrapping her mind around the idea that some people don't have an ounce of kindness in them. she's known it for a long time but only recently has she allowed the truth that some people are just inherently evil to sink into her mind.[break][break]

this one, though, seems to be like her. understands that there are two sides to the coin of life and most of the time everybody the grooves around the edges more than the face on either side.[break][break]

"three minutes sounds perfect," she is careful to walk forward and grab the potion without any quick movements, her eyes on the rillaboom with a soft smile. "and yes, his name is louie. thank you."[break][break]

after taking the potion, she gives a low whistle. louie quickly leaves the battle and moves over, limping gently as he sniffs her hand and then the individual.[break][break]

"we've done enough damage to the tower as it is, you have my word that as soon as louie here is all patched up, we'll be on our way."

That was amicable. Taking the opportunity to holster his pistol, and smiling towards the girl, though she couldn't see it, he sits himself down, and holds his hand out to the Lycanroc.[break][break]

"Hey, bud. Sorry about that. I promise, it's nothing personal." He pulls his mask down for just a moment, and if allowed, ruffles Louie's head, as Bongo continues to eye down the blonde woman, with Bass acting protective and beefing with Tilly. The moment he pulls his hand away, he nods.[break][break]

"Give him some proper rest. But before that-"[break][break]

He shares a small smile.[break][break]

"I've been defeated! Damn you, Blondie!" He feigns, and firing her a wink, before pointing towards Bass. "You defeated my Noivern!" And the little sound dragon, begins to feign a heart attack, and falls over, playing possum. "Is there no end to your cruelty, League scum?" It was all a ploy. Maybe he was just having fun with it now.[break][break]

Once Louie was settled with the healing, he shoos with his hands. Time for her to go.
