The altaria gave off a loud shriek as it fell down to the ground, poison biting into its fluffy wings. It took a short shake to get it all off, but even then, its sticky nature clung to the ground, making flight nearly impossible.

Which meant they were forced to deal with their defenses as it were.

"Aara, Mist! kalaraq, Stealth Rock!"

As if to create a fortress of defense, the councilwoman's pokemon took to their surroundings, letting out a blanket of heavy MIST to not only act as protection, but to conceal the STEALTH ROCKS that now littered the field.

At the same time the musharna was thrown, Penelope pointed in the direction to which it came, directing her grounded Altaria.

The bird awaited no other signals.

Beak sliding open, a striking pulse of purple pooled out from its mouth, sending forth a DRAGON PULSE. It was directly aimed at the direction the musharna had dropped from.

The strike of the Phantom Force hit its mark, but not without the resistance of the Camerupt's sudden PROTECT. The barrier, while too weak to defend against the brash attack, still acted with enough strength to create some resistance to the strike, allowing the cow to remain right side up.

But this small victory paled in comparison to the realization it'd brought along.

"Oh fuck off," she spat, then twisted toward her altaria, "Blast them the fuck away, aara!"

The avian took to no break. Despite still being grounded, movement was still granted to his fluffed-up wings, which flapped with great speed, ushering out what would soon become a devasting HURRICANE.

Hurricane forced the avian vulnerable, allowing the moonblast to slam into him without remorse. With a cry, the wind came to an abrupt stop. There was no chaos to craft when pain overtakes all semblance of thought. At the same time, Camerupt faced his own level of attack, receiving blows from the harsh FOCUS BLAST.

Little could be done. Both Pokémon had received their fair share of licks, and without action, they'll only continue to further fall victim to the scars of war.

"Camerupt, ANICENT POWER."

The pokemon let out a soft moo as he stomped his foot down on the ground. Out from the granite and rock, several spikes of rock studded ringlets around the trio of villains. Their ends remained sharpened to the touch. Soon they began to glow, outlined in reds and oranges. Then they lifted up form the ground.

Penelope turned to her altaria.

"Another hurricane, Aara!"
[Break][break]
Gusts of wind picked right back up again. Combined with the rock, which now lifted from the ground, a hailstorm of stone had been artificially created.

"Is he even taking this seriously?"

From his boyish attitude to the spur of lighthearted jokes, one might grow to forget the stakes associated with a battle quite like this. Not that it mattered - if anything, it only created an opportunity for the valor-stricken woman.

The sludge bomb exploded, coating the field in its concentrated poison. While Camerupt took the brunt end of the toxins, too immobile to avoid its range, the loosening effects of GRAVITY had allowed the altaria just enough time to weasel through its bombardment and return to its place in the sky. Still, some of its purple liquid still managed to nip at his claws and wings.

"Quick, rattle them with EARTHQUAKE."

Though poisoned, the ground type saw no issue with releasing it's shattering weight onto the ground. One foot after another, the ground began to quake, and the ground split into pieces at random.

"Now, while they're distracted, use HYPERBEAM."

While the group sought stability against the shifting landscape, the bird of clouds took the skies, swooping in low enough to take aim with a burst of energy. HYPER BEAM ate at the ground, raw energy condensed into a lethal pillar of light.

The grunt was right, but Penny offered no remorse for the points he'd brought up. In the heat of everything, the casualties from her counterattack were far from her mind. Fortunately, that dangerous line of thinking didn't result in permanent damage today.

The poison BARBS continued to lay its marks on the unsuspecting camerupt. It hurt, over time, but for now, the ground type still managed to stand. It would not learn of its severity until it was too late to prevent further damage.

The rocks come to fall from the heavy FOCUS BLAST, but with CAMERUPT'S PROTECT, both the ground type and his trainer remained safe against the fall. The Altaria, however, was forced to weave and dodge the crumbling rock. It barely made it out, all while recharging from the hyper beam.
