He was lost, afraid, and alone in the middle of an active warzone. Isaac couldn't fault him for not turning into Encyclopedia Brown the second he was asked about someone he may or may not have known.[break][break] "Hey, hey, hey, it's fine," Isaac said, raising his hands and taking a step back in a conciliatory gesture. "I didn't mean to hold you up. I just . . . got my hopes up for a second, I guess. Thought you might've been with one of the people I've been trying to get out of here."[break][break] He shook his head, and with it the thought. I shouldn't have put that on you. Sorry about that."[break][break] Isaac nodded towards Halberd, his signal that it was time for them to go. The Corvisquire let out a deep caw to get Hideo's attention. He'd lead Hideo over to the section of rift that Isaac had secured, taking advantage of his quiet wingbeats and knowledge of the path onwards to help keep the kid out of of trouble. If worst came to worst, his honed claws and drill peck would valiantly be put to use to protect him. But perhaps, that was a story for another time.[break][break] In the meanwhile, Isaac turned to Supernova and Nitro. "Guess we're down to a party of two for a bit, huh?" he asked. The two birds touched down on his shoulders, using him as a perch so that they could get a little bit of rest. "Alright, alright. I get the hint. You guys rest up, alright? I'll take the searching from here."[break][break] If Hideo was right, Eris Halla couldn't be too far. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if he searched a little bit longer . . .
