Their siege had well devolved into a labyrinth of warpaths and hidden traps, set to spring to the lightest quiver of movement. In the beginning, Felix kept to the rear of the campaign, acting on the defense alongside Elisabeth Fiorelli , but as the tides waned, battle plans were forced to change with it.

Now deep within the cover of darkness, Felix was pressed up against a towering pile of rock. His gallade was situated several meters out, hidden among the shambles of an eroded boulder, while Froslass kept positioned on his other side, closer and far more able to lend its assistance.

Far out, a sniper kept them pinned down. There was no telling whether Gallade's reposition had been caught by its scope, but for the time being, they wanted to play it safe. One stray bullet was all it would take.

There is no hesitation. Whether its person or pokemon, he pulls the trigger on any of them to take them out. He won't allow them to reposition. Still, even with a silencer, it was only a matter of time until they figured out where he was. So he takes the shot when he can. Gallade is no taller than the average human so when he sees a blurb of white and color he fires. Any limb would do. [break][break]

The empty shell flings out, hot and lands on the rock next to him, digging itself a bit into the rift's strange sand. He checks comms, relaying a quick status update. "Cassidy coming in, holding down 3 targets, in the Southeast quarter. Engaging, over." Behind him floated Hopper, the Porygon waiting for signal to TELEPORT to a new nest and keeping watch about the strange terrain they found themselves in.

He'd caught wind. Good.

When the shot rang out, piercing the air with its whizzing sound, two things happened at once.

First, the bullet struck, cutting a chunk of the Gallade's shoulder. It was no small wound, but one that was negligible for now.

Second, when the bullet first came catapulting out from the barrel, Felix motioned for his Froslass to respond. Poking her head out from the cover, in one grand whirl, she sent forth a shadow ball to the sniper's position.

He sees blood, but not enough to know he'd gotten a kill yet. As he loads in another shot, he looks down to take aim at the two figures running, aiming at the whiter one to blow first. He fires again, only this time can't pull the trigger. Hopper dashes in front of his visual, beeping in concern. And without warning, the Porygon moves forward to defend. As it moved to engage the Frosslass' attack, it's blasted back lower Paxton's position after firing off a TRI ATTACK that doesn't quite collide with the SHADOW BALL. [break][break]

Paxton doesn't look, partially out of pity, and partially because he was going to catch the guy running up at his next.

The SHADOW BALL whizzed by the Porygon, looking to strike where it originally intended: the sniper himself.

During this, a tri-attack is returned, again forcing the Froslass to remain tucked behind her walk of safety.

"Tsk."

Felix sucked in his teeth, the bitter taste of a pin down finally plucking at his nerves. This was getting to be enough.

Reaching into his tactical belt, he tugged out one of his SCATTERBANGS. one pull and he chucked it over his shoulder, out toward the Porygon. While the normal type distracted himself with the noise, he'd look to toss another device, this time gooey in nature. A STICKY GLOB. It looked to force the normal type in place, or hinder his movements.

During this time, gallade prepared himself, creating copies of himself. Soon they'd be readied to strike and strike hard.

The SHADOW BALL hits, but its off enough that Paxton can look away from his potential shot and take cover, rolling over as dust and debris explode out. The cloud is slow to dissipate, and only made worse by the loud ringing of a SCATTERBANG as it explodes. "Shit," [break][break]

Hopper sees the strange glob coming for it and tries to send it back, pushing hard with a sudden burst of PSYCHIC as it intends to deflect the trap ball. [break][break]

Paxton, too uncomfortable with how close the SHADOW BALL had been lets out Joules farther back as he began backing up to change locations. It's not ideal, but he'd done it before and he'd do it again if he wanted to win. He crawls away form the rock's edge before getting up and sending his Magnezone in front of him. "Get to steppin', they're trying to pin us down." he said. [break][break]

Hopper had been trying to help but in doing so, they'd revealed where he was hiding. As Paxton tries to move quickly towards another hill, ducking and darting through coral, Joules takes up attention summoning an ELECTRIC TERRAIN for Hopper before taking cover again.

This was their chance.

In the age of chaos, Felix kicked into gear, jumping toward where his gallade was kept. From there the duo took flight, TELEPORTING to where they'd estimated the shots to be deriving from.

In the flash of pink and purple, they reappeared about several feet away from the old position paxton kept that, close enough to take notice of his newfound spot, but enough to immediately spring on another attack.

Which is what led him to reach for his pistole.

"You're done."

He pressed his bracelet, igniting the swordsman in a blaze of energy. From it, he reemerged, sharpened by his mega evolution.

From where Froslass kept, she began to make her approach, sending forth more and more waves of incoming BLIZZARDS.

The TELEPORTed hostiles are quick. And Paxton is almost impressed someone could track him down that quickly for a change. Every other Rocket that'd tried it have been more stupid, charging at him head on. The Porygon tries to cover from above, taking the BLIZZARDS and sending back blast after blast of TRI ATTACK to keep the Frosslass occupied, wherever she was. [break][break]

Paxton, for his part reaches for a pokeball even under threat of fire. Out jumped Conibear, who upon seeing the pistol aimed at her trainer began to glow in turn. Paxton own mega ring glows in response and the Mawile transforms, lunging forward him change at the MEGA Gallade and their trainer with PLAY ROUGH. Paxton points his rifle back. And while he can't check sights, its still a hell of a painful shot in this range. Either way, he was bound to take some hits eventually. He just had to trust in his team they wouldn't be fatal.

The clamor of the mawile clashing against the gallade's blade rang out. PLAY ROUGH ripped into the bladesman, who did its best to defend against the series of rough attacks, pushing back against it with some of his own. Within such close quarters, CLOSE COMBAT was given the space to breathe life into their interaction, forcing the fight to intensify.

From the sidelines, froslass struggled against the TRI-ATTACK that fought back. It bit back the pain.

Gun aimed at it's target, felix's finger traced the trigger.

As the pokemon fight, they can't quite reach Felix or Paxton. Hopper is busy with their unrelenting assault of the hidden ghost type. And Conibear snarls angrily pushing at the barrage of CLOSE COMBAT with continuous attempts to grapple the Gallade with PLAY ROUGH. [break][break]

Then a gun shot goes off. As Paxton pulls up his rifle to fire a shot at the Admin, one hits him first and he's almost grateful its a pistol. Except it hurts like a bitch, even under kevlar. The gunshot sends him stumbling back, struggling to breathe. [break][break]

In an instant, Hopper TELEPORTs to his side and beeps with concern. Conibear also turns back to check on Paxton only for the Gallade to knock her back as well. On her fall she rolls onto her feet and stomps on the ground to create a ROCK SLIDE for cover. As she does, Hopper glows before TELPORTING the trio away to safety, as Paxton tries to catch his breath, having most of it knocked out of him. PARANOIA getting the better of Hopper.

There is no explaining the moment a bullet carves its way into one's shoulder. There is only recalling the madness that follows it. The gripping of the shoulder, the stifling of raking pain, the temptations to howl out toward the heavens.

Felix had experienced it all, more often than most. And yet, with each new entry to his memory, the feeling never fades. The surprise never looses it sparkle.

When the dust settled, Felix audibly released a sharp huff of pain before falling down to one knee, an arm cradling the skin that leaked. The armor of his outfit asserted him that the bullet met no organs or nerves of importance, but that did little to quell the burn sensation of iron searing between flesh.

He closed his eyes.

"Gallade!"

Play rough had temporary set the bladesmen back, but with the porgyon's retreat, Froslass was abled to do the same, and made immediate efforts to free her counterpart from the interlockings of his duel. Once freed, the Gallade took aid beside his trainer and offered an arm.

Together, they teleport out of harms way.
