And, if she squinted, she saw a red-blue lump that came from a decapitated Dracovish. Her own.

What wasn’t down there? The corpse of the fellow she pushed off this bridge a few hours prior. All of the gravitational irregularities made a clean end much more difficult.

But none of these things were exactly what she came here for. Though she refused to admit it, all Kelpie wanted to see was a familiar shock of ivory hair and a certain man’s stupid smile. Sure, silly trysts kept his spot in bed warm while he was away, but these people were like Goldilock’s porridge. None of them were just right. In this moment of uncharacteristic vulnerability, Kelpie stroked the familiar shape of her Purugly’s ears. “I don’t know why I keep looking, love. The Sharpedo wouldn’t stand a chance.”

The sound of the girl’s declaration drew Calpurnia’s eyes toward her. A well-manicured brow jerked skyward as the woman sighed. Had the League fallen so low to resort to child soldiers? The moral side, indeed. As a mother—with one child around Tsubaki’s age—she could not imagine dropping her spawn into a place like this. Right now, hers was studying for her upcoming SAT test. Not at all panicked, Calpurnia rose to her feet. “It’s not nice to threaten people, darling.” She shook her head. “Did Mother not teach you manners?"

While she’d kill Pokemon and poison a man, she drew the line at murdering a child. This moody little brat had no idea what killing someone meant. They struggled to comprehend the period between morning bell and lunch, much less an eternity. As the Dragalge rushed forward, Kelpie tossed out a Pokeball. From its depths, a Mister Rime emerged. It tossed a Freeze Dry at the charging Dragalge, its little tap shoes kicking up a cacophony.
