Fitted with a comms device before being sent off, Lam can’t say he’s all that sure what to do with it.[break][break]

Okay, okay, so he knows how to work a radio or a walkie and all, but it’s not like he knows what channel he’s supposed to be tuning into if he wants to get in touch with MATIAS SILPH. Standing just before the rift now, he tries to shoot a text on his phone, but it keeps bouncing back.[break][break]

The little red undelivered exclamation point is taunting him.[break][break]

With a sigh, he switches back to the comm, flipping through the frequencies to catch conversation if he can manage it. Gotta be some leaguer out there that can let his measly little self tack onto the shadows of. ‘Cause even though he’s only just stepped through the rift itself, going it solo for even a bit sounds, mmmm…like the worst.

he sits on a corner of the ultra deep sea, trying to nurse whatever sadistic injuries MATIAS SILPH has inflicted on him earlier. he doesn't mind the broken bones as much as the repairs he needed for the expensive sygna suit.

as he attempts first aid on his leg, his body freezes to a shock for a split second when he hears steps coming closer. he peeks from a corner and notices a single person coming through.

for a moment, he contemplates putting the helmet back on, but ultimately decides against it. he's already breathing heavily anyways and it wasn't like anything could get better from his position.

"hey," he calls him out as he rolls bandage over what he assumed to be either a fracture or a limp. "what are you here for?"

lam stops in his tracks, shoulders hiking up as he's startled from his focus on fiddling with the tech. "Uhh." The garbled sound tumbles loose unbidden as he shifts and turns toward the source.[break][break]

the question itself falls right out of his head as soon as green eyes land on priam. "Oh shit," he deadpans, pinpointing on the injury that the rocket works on trying to wrap (not that lam knows who he is or where his allegiance rests.) The methodical bandaging process reminds him of Ikarus Rook's daily routine. He should've let him know he'd made it there - though, again...no phone signal.[break][break]

"That looks pretty gnarly." He points down at priam's leg, even if it's sorta obvious what he'd be referring to.

"hell yeah!" he takes gnarly as positive. "and when it heals, i'm gonna have an equally gnarly scar! how sick is that?"

he finishes dressing up his wound with a bow tie. "just in time for summer."

not that he thinks he can join those big beach party the league hosts every now and then again. maybe rocket can have their own beach party instead.

he looks up to him again, tone friendly as ever. it always has been, regardless of the allegiances of people he has met so far.

"you still haven't answered my question. are you here for gnarly scars as well?"

it might be his new word of the day.

There’s literally no telling who this guy is, but Lam’s not about to make a total snap judgment. After all, he’s not done anything outright to put Lam on edge. Still, the sense is there. But it feels more like the deep sea itself ruffling up his nerves.[break][break]

If anything, though, he matches Priam’s positive energy easily. “Oh dip! That’s right–perfect excuse to show off.” He doesn’t ask how it was acquired, though. Probably for the better.[break][break]

“Hm?” he blinks slowly, expression blithe. Maybe he wasn’t as obliviously stupid as he behaved?[break][break]

A wide smile stretches across his face as he shrugs, hands slipping into his pockets.[break][break]

One hand idly thumbs over a pokeball, while the other tucks his phone away in the opposite empty space.[break][break]

Just in case.[break][break]

“Me? Nahh, but it’d be pretty dope, right?” he answers, ducking around the question again. The hand that had been on his phone pulls free–lifting so that he can drag his forefinger down over his eye in a slash. Imaginative gesture.[break][break]

“I don’t think it’d suit me, yannow? You, though? You’ve got the vibe.” A thumbs up for Priam.

"well, i do have that rougish, handsome look." the arrogance is exaggerated to a point that it can be taken as a joke.

priam's leg remains numb, though he's certain he could stand if he forced himself. he would though, being uncomfortable with being too idle for extended periods of time.

he extends an arm up, trying to get lam to help him up. he figured it doesn't need to say it, so he chooses to take the opportunity to mention something else.

"oh yeah, what should i call you?" he asks, hand grabbing the air to motion for lam's help. "you can call me conrad."

He laughs at the exaggeration, shrugging. “Humble, too.”[break][break]

The amusement in his expression fades, though, as the stranger seems to struggle with pulling himself up on his own. The hand in his pocket that had been hovering over a pokeball releases a togekiss.[break][break]

“You want help with that?” He nods at the other’s leg before following through the unspoken request to help him up without a second thought. Hand clasping Conrad’s to tug him to his feet.[break][break]

“Oh, uhhh…Logan, that’s fine.” That’s like, formal, or whatever. He’s not really a formal sorta guy, but then again, it’s not like he knows this dude.[break][break]

Maybe should’ve thought about that before offering medical assistance too. Oop.

a zoroark shows itself the moment the togekiss did. overprotectiveness, maybe, but it knows that the place messes up with people's heads that it felt like it warrants its presence.

priam pulls himself too close, but not unnaturally so, when lam takes the offer. the left meets lam's right, bringing a blind spot where priam's shoulders would be blocking lam's right side.

practiced as a pickpocket, a successful sleight-of-hand check would have him nimbly replace the phone on his pocket to a burner phone priam has been carrying without much shifting. casually, his hand returns to his own pocket afterwards.

visually, his zoroark has it covered with its illusion.

a grunt to distort perception of what was happening, and a stagger on his feet that puts more emphasis on him than anything else in that moment. priam employs subtle, but exaggerated, things for misdirection.

"oh, can you?" he responds back, his character unbreaking. "ugh, it really is my bad for not bringing any mon with healing moves that i had to rely on this flimsy pouch of first-aid supplies."

he shows the other leg. scratches and cuts made its way through his suit, but at least it wasn't ugly as the large bruises he had on his other one that he already hid.

Egg is far from a threatening presence, in all honesty. Still, at the appearance of the other man’s zoroark, she makes a show of hovering around Lam as protectively as she might be able to convey–regardless of the intention she was called out with.[break][break]

It’s maybe not too convincing, but Egg does her best![break][break]

Maybe considering the fact that he was dating someone who used to be a professional thief, Lam would be wise to pickpocketing tactics, but…no. The illusion cast by the zoroark is tight and foolproof coupled with the skill for it Priam already possesses.[break][break]

It won’t be until Lam’s hand returns to his pocket and the feel of the device is different that he even notices a switch took place.[break][break]

So to him, everything’s pretty standard–he pulls Priam up and lets him go, and in his mind that’s that. Unfortunately for the phone thief, there wouldn't be much to find once he cracked into the device. Some correspondence with MATIAS SILPH, sure, but nothing worth noting amid all of the doting texts to his partner and litany of photos of his shinx.[break][break]

“Yeah, sure. Guess hindsight is 20/20, huh?” he replies, a short laugh following as he nods at Egg. The togekiss looks reluctant for a moment, but follows through– LIFE DEW casting a glow over the injury.

the pain goes away alongside proper disinfecting and clotting of wounds.

"this shit is poggers! he turns from watching his scratches heal to lam. "thank you!"

he tries to jump, but even with the weird physics that puts them in a near underwater-like air density, the landing still shoots a surge of pain from his legs.

his mouth opens in a gasp of pain, while his hand quickly rubs his shin. he recovers from it quickly, though.

"you're a godsend by the way, i just need to tell ya that again!" it was genuine. "i need to go meet up with my friends though. do you need help with directions or anything?"

The enthusiasm that follows is almost a little...surprising? His head tilts as he watches Conrad hop up, the movement warped by the strange gravity of the deep sea.[break][break]

It's not the upbeat air that throws him. Just- wouldn't someone who's familiar with healing pokemon just think the gesture is a little par for the course?[break][break]

That unsettled, paranoid edge creeps back into the corner of his mind. A telltale twist informing him that maybe he should've listened to his gut earlier. Too little too late now, though.[break][break]

Even so, he cracks a grin at the gratitude-- quick to wave a hand. "No problem. Seemed right." Regardless of his secondary doubts, helpful is helpful, yeah? "Oh sure, yeah. I probably should too. Er-" Chewing his lip as he looks around, Lam's quick to realize he's not as familiar with the deep sea as he thought.[break][break]

He pauses, hand shifting as he considers reaching for his phone to pull up the exact location he's looking for. Then, at the last moment his hand falls back to his side. "Actually, nah, I think I got it. Thanks though!" Can't be that hard, surely. No need to hold this guy up any longer than he already had. What could go wrong?

"well, i guess it's time to part ways now.

his zoroark waits a distance away, eyes still glaring at the togekiss and its trainer.

"oh, yeah, if i were you, i wouldn't go over that direction," his thumb points to a path adjacent to where he was heading. "shady guys are out there. well, unless you're down to scrap, then pop off!"

whether he takes his word or not was up to him.

he lifts himself up and floats under the dense air once more. it's a much better way to travel with an injury, regardless of whether life dew has healed it fully or not, just to be on the safe side.

only once he's out of sight did he realize he went for his phone instead of the radio out of habit. maybe he really just missed the days of being a petty pickpocket.

“Yeh, seems that way.” What else is he supposed to say? Happy battles? No, that just sounds flat stupid.[break][break]

Equally as suspicious as the zoroark, his togekiss spins circles around him and chirps. Maybe in an effort to get him moving as she watches the dark-type.[break][break]

Lam’s head swivels in the direction pointed to, though, and his brows furrow in absent thought. “Right, don’t want to waltz right into trouble.” Despite the fact that maybe he already has.

But if this is a rocket agent…maybe that’s exactly the direction he needs to go.[break][break]

Priam pulls himself up into the heavy air, but Lam isn’t paying too much attention after waving him off. He reaches for his phone, and his expression drops. “Wait-“ Pardon?? This wasn’t his phone??[break][break]

His head shoots up to catch out the thief, but the other is long gone. Well, shit. Guess he’s heading toward the skirmishes and banking on it, after all.
