That was a close call. Oscar was inches away from death multiple times within the past hour alone, but at last he had crossed over into the Rocket camp outside of the Ultra Sea Portal. You know which once, yeah that one. The one You know. Battered and bruised, Oscar was looking forward to a little rest before heading back into the fight, but unfortunately fate had other ideas.

The camp was in a frenzy, grunts were running about trying to make anything they could into a weapon. Oscar tilted his head as he removed his skull mask, scowling as he tried to read the situation. He could not decipher the panic though, so he grabbed a random grunt by the shoulder and yanked them toward him. "Where's the fire?"

The grunt gulped, his eyes wide with mounting fear. "Not a fire, we're under attack! A big League mob is on their way!" Oscar furrowed his brows, "It's just an expression--whatever go do your thing." He let go of the grunt, who quickly ran off to do something surely important. Oscar cracked his neck, sighing heavily as he donned his mask once more. He would not be getting any rest until this was resolved, so he might as well resolve it himself. Without further delay, he would set off toward the front of the camp.

"Neon to NPC, come over!" A figure in black and blue says, a hand on the side of their helmet. "Exit route secured, NPC 2's team holding way, begin evac to site 4!" He ordered trying to lend some sort of helping hand. He'd been rushed off his decoy mission, called back to action since he was closer to the border between worlds than most others. [break][break]

Grunts scramble, while the executive radio each other trying to coordinate. A rumbling rings as some fall while others hold themselves upright. An EARTHQUAKE? "Fucking insane-" Mint exclaimed, laughing at the oncoming attack. [break][break]

The portal behind them swirled open but he's not sure they want a flood of Rocket. Comms between worlds was difficult, but he didn't want to take the chance it was a coordinated attack. [break][break]

Spotlights are turned on, facing the oncoming wave, max brightness as a Loudred howls into a mic, blasting the oncoming league fighters with noise and light. Not as good as a flash bang, but he'd make do. "Let's see if you shape up, Charlie." He said tossing put a pokeball to reveal a Chimecho. Before he sends it out, he takes a moment to acknowledge oscar clayton , battered like the rest of them. He grins, electronic mask reflecting his expression. "That you? Shouldn't you be with the seals?" He asked, giving him an obvious once over. "You good?" He added, hand on a pouch on his side to offer something better than ibuprofen.

The first line of defense had begun its effort to repel the invaders as Oscar approached the front-line. It was an impressive setup, though with the League mob setting up Protect shields to push behind he wondered how long they could hold them back. A man with an electronic mask approached Oscar, and for a moment he had forgotten that he had helped mint frost with this very disguise.

Oscar reeled back his neck as he recalled, chuckling as he pulled a pokeball off of his belt. "Shit I nearly didn't recognize you. I'm here on break, or I was supposed to be. Got the shit kicked out of me for several hours." Mint asked if he was alright, and Oscar could not decide how to answer him. Eventually he just shrugged, "Eh I'm alright, ask me again once this shit is over."

Oscar pushed up and threw out his chosen ball, unleashing his Shadow Nidoqueen: Desolence. Oscar clapped his hands together, "Send some earth under their shields!" Desolence roared, smashing one of her fists into the ground. Shock waves radiated from her position, crawling across the earth and erupting with magma within the enemy ranks (Earth Power). That should keep them busy for a moment longer.

"Hehe, me too! Twinsies!!" Mint said. Though his clothes were, for the most part, holding together due to the tear resistant material, he was fairly sore and bruised everywhere. His delicate body bruising like a peach in the summer. Or something laughable like that. "Well if you're bleeding, I can tourniquet you?" he offered, his LED mask mirroring his smile. [break][break]

Charlie the Chingling is unaffected, jingling softly near the Shadow pokemon. While she created fissures of earth and destabilized form of the Protect Wall, Charlie instead YAWNed loudly. A handful of the protect pokemon, mouth or not, seemed to imitate looking slower and drowsier as they grew more and more tired. [break][break]

"Did you use her during the Necrozma thing? When all the Shadow mon went crazy?" he asked idly, head turning from the chaos of their force meeting the League's back to the last of the scurrying grunts and the scraps leftover of their camp as the teams hurried to move to a backup.

The chitchat was welcome; while the League invaders posed a viable threat they were hardly a challenge for the likes of Oscar and Mint. Besides, talking with Mint was great regardless of the circumstances. Oscar answered Mint casually, "Nah, I avoid using shadow pokemon when I'm acting as a civilian. I mean, I know the people of Hoenn get their hands on some crazy shit but I feel like a shadow pokemon draws too many eyes." Good call too, Oscar did not want to imagine how difficult it would have been to subdue a rogue Desolence.

Speaking of, it was about time to push for another volley of Earth Power. Oscar looked to Desolence to give a command, but stopped short as he witnessed something unexpected. "What--what the fuck!?" The Nidoqueen was fast asleep, snoring softly as it lay sprawled out on the ground. It would seem that Charlie's Yawn affected more than the enemy. It was a bizarrely accurate reflection of Oscar's luck today.

Oscar let out a flurry of curses, withdrawing Desolence and placing her ball back onto his belt. Oscar continued to grumble as he reached around for a Beast Ball, opening it to reveal a Xurkitree. The Xurkitree rose to its full height, its tendrils shaking with anticipation. Oscar pointed to the invaders, most of which were busy trying to wake up their sleeping pokemon.

"Navitas, fuck 'em up!" Navitas let out an electronic screech before extending two of its tendrils and firing off a volley of intense electricity (Thunderbolt). Oscar placed a hand on his hips as he watched the electrified enemy mob scramble, "You'd think they would have been more prepared for this."

"Really? Didn't civilians get some...allegedly... through that hatchery last year? Ish?" He asked. "Me and Yoru investigated it but didn't really find anything after the fact." he added with a small shrug. jayden cross and him had sniffed the entire place clean, turned over every possibly speck of dust. "Then again you have a really public persona don't you?" he added, vaguely gesturing at his friend as he skirted around saying CEO. He noted the Nidoqueen YAWNing and shouted over at his partner. "You gotta do that IN FRONT of your allies, Charlie!" he tried to coach as the Chingling is left alone, taking a barrage of ICE BALLS and MAGICAL LEAF, aimed at the shadow Nidoqueen and landing on the Chingling instead. [break][break]

"Whoa...kinda looks like you, huh?" Mint added looking over at the Ultra Beast. Weird alien fuckers. He then turned back to his partner who, in an attempt to pacify the nearest threat had WRAPped herself onto a nearby Ivysaur. "Charlie MOVE-!" he began to order before watching it take fire from the THUNDERBOLT. The little sentient bell shrieked, falling off it's opponent and flying off from the electric impact. Still, it's effective against their opponents. "This may not be their main force." the Beast suggested as Oscar noted their incompetency. [break][break]

"League's strongest are probably already in there. Doubt they train up the rest."

Mint's Xurkitree comment caused Oscar to balk. "We most certainly do not look alike!" Oscar angrily placed his hands on his hips, looking up at Navitas as if urging it to agree. Navitas would provide no support, as it would mimic its trainer's stance and sway its lanky hips as if to mock Oscar's tone. Oscar huffed and looked away, "Bunch of smart asses over here..."

Mint made a good point in regards to this task-force though, the top League trainers were probably engaged in the main war within Ultra Space. These guys were likely just testing Rocket's defenses, assessing how difficult a full scaled attempt would be. Hopefully their so far hilarious failure would be enough to deter further efforts.

The fight raged on, and soon the base's grunts would be out in full force to push back the League invaders. Oscar and Mint did not even need to be there any more, the grunts were doing a fine job on their own. As the League mob began to retreat, Oscar would clap his hands together and start dusting them off.

"Well that's that I suppose. Do they have food around here? How about we grab some lunch?"

Mint waits for Charlie to come back, but amongst the chaos of all the pokemon fighting, the beams flying, the punching and kicking- it doesn't. And after a moment he calls out for it with no response, no bell. He tries to return it to its pokeball only to press the button multiple times and nothing to show up. "Shit...Charlie-" he murmured, scanning for a sign, a body- something. He sees it in the form of a bell, without its ribbon sailing back further and further into the League's side, disappearing without a trace. Mint drops his pokeballs and smashes it, sighing as he turned back to look at Oscar. [break][break]

And it is a welcome moment of relief. He hadn't realized Oscar had been saying something- The LED face blinks, processing before letting out a laugh as he turned to look at Navitas. "They seem to think so!" Mint returned, happy to distract himself from the loss with this. "C'mon, a bit of hair gel and I can style your hair just like theirs." he added pointing at the Xurkitree. [break][break]

The danger ebbs away, with Beast and Former Beast relieved of their duties as the League is repelled. With the fight over, Mint unlatched the helmet, fanning himself as he tucked it under one arm. "I'm sure someone set up grub....Oh! Need any painkillers? Neosporin? I got HELLO KITTY bandaids." he asked wit ha grin as he wiped the sweat off his brow, eager for a break.

Oscar tended to be oblivious to underlying emotions, he was no good at being empathetic without a great deal of focus. However in this case, a prominent context clue would lead him to believing that Mint was not as cheerful as he appeared. Oscar's wayward eyes gravitated toward the ball Mint had earlier destroyed, its broken pieces reflecting the flashes from the battle before them. Oscar's face twisted behind his mask. Did something happen to Mint's Chingling?

Mint may not show it, but losing a pokemon can be hard for anyone--especially if they had high hopes for their would-be partner. Oscar turned his back to the battle, resting one of his arms on Mint's shoulders. As he lead the neon beast back into the base, Oscar would flash him a grin.

"I'm thinking I'll need a bit of everything. You can patch me up while we eat!"
