After one of the friendlier fight against what would one day be his junior, and somewhat re-energized by the endeavor with a new powerful Primeape at his side, he would begin to limp on. Looking at his busted communicator and quietly contemplated his next action carefully.[break][break]

This entire day could go straight to hell.[break][break]

His eyes readjusted. His face hurt, and yet epiphany washes over him. Wait. Wasn't... "Eris." He limps against the wall now. Most of his Pokemon were down and out. His only one left, really, was Sunny. And as he releases the Scorbunny, he would proceed. The Scorbunny concerned about Ash, holds onto his head, as he continues his way through the labyrinth that was the Ultra Sea.[break][break]

Where the hell can one little girl be in here? Come on. Legs, don't fail me now. I need you to get me wherever she is. I'll do the rest.[break][break]

After today, he was gonna take some much needed paid time off. Hell, he was going to request a promotion for the work he's done. Elite isn't paying the bills as much as it should.[break][break]

It didn't take long to find two grunts, wasted on the ground as his silver eye, the only one that could open far enough, widened considerably. "Oh my Arceus." His eyes trailed upwards. He lets go of the wall he was limping against, and practically slammed onto his butt, jaw on the floor.

Having winded them, pretty much broken their ankles and thoroughly destroyed their egos - All for the fact that she simply wanted a nap and they were just about seconds away from throttling her if she even tried? Maybe she should say something along the lines of, she was feeling paranoid and it really got to her. Oh, what about that ranger that suddenly appeared out of nowhere? She could blame him for some of the damage, right?[break][break]

The blood that trickles from her cheek is rubbed away with a brush of her sleeve, Jack floats around her, taking in the sight of the felled grunts and seeming pleased with his handiwork. But just before she can possibly take a rest, she hears something crumple to the ground with a loud thud, snapping around and quite nearly hissing at-[break][break]

"Ashley?"[break][break]

He seems hurt and a little too tired to stand. Or is he just trying to take a little rest since this is supposed to be a safe spot and all?[break][break]

"Am I okay? Are you okay?" He feels he has to ask. Considering there are two broken-ankled, broken-spirited grunts lay before him. There's a look up towards Eris, the small speckle of blood wiped away, slightly smeared on her cheek.[break][break]

His sleeve was torn from his jacket, as he rubs his head quietly with the hand. "Did... you...?" He has to ask her, his eyes back from the grunts, resting on her.[break][break]

Eris had first appeared to him as the girl who didn't have anyone to be near for holidays, so his perception of her was like that of a little sister- one to protect by all costs. Yet, here she stands, having broken ankles, taken names, and chewing bubblegum. It's either her, or a Pokemon. Perhaps its the sheer unorthodoxy of it all.[break][break]

"I-" He starts, quickly correcting himself. "I gotta apologize to you, Eris, I didn't expect it. But you are a lot more dangerous than I gave you credit for." He rubs the back of his neck, and winces in pain. His face was heavily bandaged, as were parts of his body under the shirt and torn up jacket. "Fu-... crap." He corrects himself before he curses in front of her.

She's more prone to injuries and would probably get snapped by anyone who actually got their hands on her, but if she's survived in this organisation thus far-[break][break]

It just took a bit of time for her to reach this state of bitterness and blatant apathy. But when she sees Ashley in that much discomfort, a little bit of those sour feelings melt away and she's inclined to try and help in whatever way she can.[break][break]

"You're running off fumes." She huffs, getting her Comfey to provide some Floral Healing for his wounds. "How'd you get so beaten up?"

That... was fair. Because all it takes to assure Ashley, is to hear the groans and moans from the grunts that had their generous asses handed to them from the young girl. With a singular look upwards, he just nods. "No kidding." He says so a little uneasy. Not so much that it is Eris that inflicted such grievous beatings, but more because he was glad he wasn't that bad off.[break][break]

Of course, when Eris had her Comfey help to heal him, he began to groan himself, feeling on the wounds as they began to close up. "Long story... so, after fending off this blonde girl (francie myrtle) attacking our comm towers, I had some talks and scuffles with Isaac and Gavin, ran into some old Salamence with this one woman (Kyrenai Black), ran into an old friend, Greyson Connors, who was handing me MY sorry butt. Got away, and unearthed some trauma thanks to some green mecha when mint frost saved my-then-half-beaten butt, got out and found a sniper that killed two of my Pokemon on Mt. Pyre, who kicked my already exhausted butt (paxton concordas), got tended to by jayden cross after he was scared away, found ana fell who looked worse than me, before finding you. And all I have left is Maple and Sunny here. But I'm alive." That should about sum it up.[break][break]

"Thanks Eris. Really."[break][break] As Ashley speaks, Sunny practically jumps onto her shoulder and gives her a big ol hug with his tiny arms.

He smiles and puts a hand on her head, if allowed, as he feels the wounds beginning to get healed up with Floral Healing. He didn't feel too great, hell, he felt like hell still, but at least this way, he could maybe walk on his own?[break][break]

"Well, you can handle yourself... mind if I stick around? You surely can handle yourself better than me."

"Arceus, I hope so. I'm tired of getting the sh-... the crap kicked out of me today." He laughs quietly, feeling a little less bad that his ape may have just...[break][break]

He whimpers a moment, turning his head down. "Yeah... they go by Landon Cassidy..." And for Eris, a new look overtakes Ashley's general chill demeanor. His eyes are filled with his hate, as he stares at the ground. Now, even more intent to killing him. As if the abyss had opened up for him to stare into.[break][break]

Back to Eris, as Sunny makes a happy cry of delight, Ash perks up, getting himself up onto his feet, and smiles again. A momentary violent moment having came and went through him. "How do you figure we're almost through? I barely have any gas in the tank left. Got an idea?"[break][break]

He can't rest knowing that there's still more fighting happening in there. Eris just gave him a pick-me-up.

She isn't wrong. This place truly was dragging him down, and the more Ashley thinks about it, between those weird interdream leaks, the trainers throwing him into a fight club he didn't intend to be in and potentially breaking bones, and the the fall of someone so strong, his pillar...[break][break]

He nods.[break][break]

"Yeah... it's like... how it is in the Borders, but this area. It's just harder to do everything." He found himself rubbing the back of his neck. And then... an unfortunate truth comes out. "Isaac... he's not wrong. This squabble is kind of pointless, don't you think?"[break][break]

There's a moment of hesitation as he says it. As if the earlier conversation has done more to enlighten him than anything else that happened today. "Maybe we should leave. Before anyone else has to die." But the radio headset has him gesture. to his own communication device... which was broken. He holds it up.[break][break]

"You any good with mechanics? Thing hasn't worked since my run in with those green mechas." It'd... be nice to hear Kep's voice right now.

She sighs, unable to meet his gaze as she continues to tweak the dial. "Whatever they found here, it's supposedly got something to do with Arceus. And you don't have to know exactly what it does to know that that's a pretty bad thing for either side to have."[break][break]

Sometimes, she wishes that more people thought like Isaac Merlo or Ashley in terms of the value of human life. But if Hoenn has taught her anything, it's that the region is consistently in a power struggle and that both factions seem to somehow keep each other in check.[break][break]

Regardless, when he holds up his own communication piece, she's more than happy to take it into her own hands. A quick scan tells her that it's damaged but not quite in the usual ways, the interference stemming from something more... whimsical. And a green mecha does wonders in explaining that very phenomenon.[break][break]

"Guess you got snatched by the Interdream Zone." She hums, hooking the device up to her own console as she begins to run some diagnostic tests. "So when you say green mechs, what exactly did you see?"

And there it is. The problematic contradiction to the battle at large. A battle that, by all accounts, is pointless. The idealism that Isaac protrudes is tantamount to get him killed, because the conflict cannot end; it simply can't. Idealism. What is idealism? The bane to realism; because at the end of the day, whatever the tool is, whatever this thing is, this scribe, this power, it's far too strong to be in the hands of Walsh. And even worse, if its to the League.[break][break]

He was having a massive headache. On the one hand, he wasn't going to just betray what he told Isaac. But...[break][break]

The world isn't made for men like them. That's why Ash wanted to learn how to play the game; because at the end of the day, men like them died early, early deaths, buried in shallow graves. He closes his eyes.[break][break]

To the communicator question, he begins to explain. "Yeah. I guess that's what it is. It's weird, because it was the second time it happened. The first time, this dragon came and attacked me in what looked like Kanto. Like... back then. This time though, it was my foster family's house. Well... the first one." He winces, the thought of it leaving a bad taste in his mouth, but he balls. "But... it's weird. Two of them burst through the walls. They were wild. Mint said they looked like Tyranitar. But metallic, and futuristic." He tried to do what Eris did with explaining that one Quagsire monster during the Icelands, by being expressive with his hands, but it's a little hard considering he has to explain a touch over a body shape.[break][break]

Thinking a moment, he ponders. "Come to think of it. Right as Mint shut the door, they fired up with electricity. Dunno if that's any help." Anything at this point, he'd been without it for so long now.

Ash finds himself laughing quietly. "You are probably one of the smartest people on the battlefield, you know that?" That wisdom was still something people had to fight to attain, to keep, to learn. But he nods, eyeing towards the ultra sea around them.[break][break]

"I know. I just don't want to run anymore. Been running for years."[break][break]

Though talking about the Interdream only has him shudder, as Eris seems to note how it could've been worse. Worse than two mecha firing rocks, busting doors, and hunting them down like calves to a slaughter. In his abusive foster family home.[break][break]

"It'd be worse if like, Palkia was there, yeah. Real glad that it wasn't. Father Winter too." He rubs his arm, and feels himself get a lot more energetic. This was nice. And as Sunny enjoys the Floral Healing too, getting energized, he mimics Ashley's movements to stretch. Even if some bones might be hurt, he'd still prepare.[break][break]

"Have you experienced some of it? The Interdream, you called it? Did you see stuff from way back too?"

The nicks on her finger draw in her gaze, the glossy scars shimmering ever so slightly as she moves her hands. "You can tell yourself you're not gonna run anymore, that you gotta be brave and try to do something. But sometimes, being brave means knowing that you can't take some things head on or that you have to return with another plan. It's not being brave if you just sacrifice yourself in vain."[break][break]

For a kid like her, there are many things she has yet to grasp and many more that she has yet to understand when putting into words. She doesn't mean to belittle whatever he's gone through, but she can see how she might have done so. Still, she appreciates the fact that he doesn't get mad and seems to get what she's trying to say.[break][break]

Has she experienced the Interdream?[break][break]

"Yeah."[break][break]

Has she seen stuff from way back?[break][break]

She goes a little quiet at that question, leaving only the sound of her tap-tap-tapping on her console screen. And for a while, she finds that she doesn't quite have an answer or at least, one that would leave her satisfied.[break][break]

Despite it all, she still foolishly eeks out something amidst the silence.[break][break]
