This was definitely a bit more challenging than even the loose sand of Slateport’s beach.

Rather than try to run up the rocky face of the jagged pass, Lam treats it as a steady hike. Set at a moderate pace, only occasionally breaking to drink from a water bottle stored in a satchel on his back. Overhead, his pidgeot soars, enjoying the open skies in contrast with the urban sprawl of Slateport.

Eventually, Hermes descends—perching on a low, rocky outcrop. Patting the colorful plumage on the bird’s head, he reaches into his bag to retrieve a snack for his feathered friend. Perhaps on the descent they’ll practice flying with Lam on his back, but for now, he may as well put in the work too.

At first, he doesn’t notice the familiar face. He’s too busy sending Hermes after a mankey that’s decided it wants to pick a fight.

With a beat of his wings, the pidgeot sends a small HURRICANE sweeps the mankey up, spinning it around until it can’t throw a fist straight. Lam aims a pokeball, and throws.

The greeting causes him to swivel in place, but any tension is quick to fade.

“Oh, hey! Do we have the same routine, or what?” Weird, but funny enough.
