It had been a long day. Elaine couldn't say it was particularly longer than anyone else's. After all, the first man she had ambushed was clearly in a weakened state. The escort mission was an entirely different story. And now that she and her Pokemon were healed, she was thrown back into the fray.

According to the intel, another higher up Rocket would be crossing through the area where she was keeping herself hidden. There were clear paths beneath her, but she remained perched up, hidden among a quarry of stones, a visage impenetrable to the human eye. She had contorted her body slightly, bent forward, and was keeping her eye trained onto a small crack overlooking the path below.

Yes, she would be leading another ambush. But this time it was different.

I feel like a sacrificial Wooloo...

She was alone. There was no guarantee she would win. Scratch that, it was near guaranteed that she would lose.

Stall them. Go all out. Survive.

She had been told to go through all possible effort to take down the enemy, but Elaine was clear on her priorities. Even as she waited with bated breath with a Pokeball in hand, she knew that she just had to survive this.

And so she heard the first clunk. The first signal of human presence. And so there was no turning back. She did not need to look the target in the eye. The botched assassination would commence.

Quickly, she released the Pokemon in her hand, the Milotic. Without even a single order, its tail began to glow before it smashed into the ground beneath it. The ground shattered as rocks and the serpent's draconic tail hurtled to the target below.

Just when she thought she had some effect with her sudden ambush, all of that seemed to vanish as ghostly flames fanned out from the target and his Pokemon. The pink flames seemed to almost engulf everything before even more of them formed in front of it.

There was no way for the Dragon Tail to reach through any further. Whatever force it had left would not even lay a scratch especially with all the flames coming towards them. They had to change tact here. After catching the ground with its tail, Nehpthys caught Elaine on her back.

After landing, the serpent faced the Typhlosion and coiled itself with Elaine at the center, protected by multiple loops of its body--an attempt to protect its trainer while fortifying its strength and defenses. It would take the attack but it would hit harder right after.

Yes...if right after came.

their tactics confuse him. to be on the offensive only to take a step back to COIL seems like a wasted opportunity. if anything, it allows him a moment to recover, and it doesn't take much before he's shifting to offense as well.[break][break]

he clicks his tongue, sending his typhlosion forward to throw itself in a QUICK ATTACK.[break][break]

Wait for it...

She knew it was an odd move for an assailant like her, but it was fine. There was no guarantee that an attack from a distance like this would be enough. She needed to try to draw the enemy in. Even as Nephthys was assailed by the ghostly flames, she stood strong. There was no way that they would fall as quickly as that.

And as the coiled serpent took the brunt of a quick charge, it was in clear pain, wincing at contact, barely holding onto consciousness. Were it not for its coiled state, it would have all been over.

"NOW!"

From beneath the Milotic, a wave of water formed and rose threatening to crash down upon the Typhlosion and the man who commanded it.

Just as a wave of water had rushed towards the enemy, a wave of steam rushed into the air. For Elaine, the sight was a first. The moment when lava cooled and solidified was nothing sort of fascinating and were she not in the middle of battle, she would have loved to have watched that kind of phenomenon for longer.

"Break through."

Elaine stared at the irregular rock formations left behind before her.

With the amplified power from coiling earlier, Milotic lunged forward, once again aiming to crash into the enemy with its tail.
