since he didn't get an emboar, he got the fear of missing out on a capture. he tells himself he just needs to catch one in the surrounding area to give himself the satisfaction of catching one.

worst case scenario, he can always just give it away to an officer in need of a pokemon or something like that. maybe he'll train it up before giving it away too.

he goes further from the area where the swarm of emboar played, wandering aimlessly since he's not sure where exactly to find a pokemon. he tells himself one will show up eventually, but he's not sure when.

a crabominable catches his attention. it's not quite an emboar, but it's close enough.

he sends out his mightyena against a fighting-type, only for kyle to pull out his tera orb and change its typing to ghost-type.

a crown with a ghost sits on its head. it stands still as the crabominable rushes in with a punch, only for it to phase through the pokemon. a look of smugness with the result gets interrupted by kyle trying to make quick work of the capture.

"hyper beam!"

the attack throws the wild pokemon away to a wall of dirt and stone at the base of the volcano, knocking it out almost immediately. whatever strand of consciousness it had gets cut off with a throw of a pokeball from the trainer.
