Was he speaking from personal experience? That was up to la idiota to figure out himself.

The moment the other mentioned the Silent Icelands, he shuddered.

“Oh, Ollie,” he began once he’d found his voice again as he turned around to face his best friend. “The thing that caused the Silent Icelands to exist has everything to do with it.”

Now, how was he going to explain this? Might as well get straight into it.

“You know how some Pokémon are so assured of themselves that they’re the best in one particular field, or typing? What if they then suddenly meet another, and in a display of utter dominance, they get… humbled to the point they’re humiliated?”

That was the best way he could put it into words, speaking from personal experience.

How the mighty have fallen, wouldn’t you say?

“More like, it was the thing that came out of a rip in space… if I’m remembering this right—after we all managed to get back here—it roared at everyone; and well… they faced the burst of cold head-on but we almost died. I never thought I’d come so close to dying that day.”

As if ominously welcoming them, the wall of ice ahead of them began to crack, slowly but surely…

“I suspect that…” he nodded quietly.

“Two different deities of ice, both on different power scales, both representing something—”

Before he could continue though, the cracking noise got louder; before finally exploding outward.

“Ollie!” he yelled, quickly turning around and diving for his best friend to tackle him to the frozen ground; the better to protect him, to shield from the shards of ice that had come flying outward in an attempt to repel them both away.

“Cazzo, are you okay?!” he gasped a few moments later while there were more shards of ice flying overhead.

[break][break] his words were cut off when there was a sudden explosion. the cracking noise suddenly became all that he could hear — the small cavern filled abruptly with the sound of shattering glass.

[break][break] lars is faster to react than him. the tall blond is grappling for him, tossing them both to the floor to avoid the sudden the shards of ice that explode from the wall. ollie's heart beats loudly in his chest, calloused hands reaching for his best friend's shoulders to stabilize himself as he laid flat against the ground. his eyes were wide.

His mind was going a thousand miles a second; the cracking sound had seemingly tapered of—for the moment.

“That…” he breathed out, the terror very evident in his voice, “…was the wrath of something that doesn’t want me here.”

For a few moments, though, he caught sight of his best friend’s expression; there was palpable terror there, right there, where he could see it.

“If I hadn’t tackled you down, who the fuck knows what might’ve happened…” he heaved quietly as he then looked over his shoulder; straining his ears as best as he could manage before finally, very painfully slowly, getting up—and helping the other man up as well.

“D-do you have any Fire-type Pokémon with you? To keep you warm?”

Because the threat of frostbite was so very real the longer they stayed here. As a matter of fact, the temperature had already gone down several degrees…
