The list of people who could perform visitations for Eris was vanishingly small, and yet here he stood. All it took was whole lot of stubbornness, a clean public record, and a willingness to wear a body camera to ensure he wasn't up to any shady business. It wasn't exactly the most pleasant undertaking, but fuck it. As long as he could see his surrogate little sister again.[break][break]

Lilycove was one of the few places where she wanted to go, and frankly it was a welcome change of pace. If he had to go to Mossdeep City on Eris-related business one more time, Isaac was going to scream. Lilycove was a much needed change of pace.[break][break]

Yet even though Isaac spent more time in Western Hoenn than Eastern Hoenn, he was pretty sure there wasn't supposed to be a whirlpool off the coast of Lilycove.[break][break]

"Hey, uh, Eris? You spend more time around here than me," he said, looking towards the maelstrom with a single eyebrow raised. "Is the water always supposed to do that?"[break][break]

And was it supposed to get closer by the minute?

[attr="class","inner-finally"]Her world might grow small in the eyes of Isaac Merlo but to her, nothing much has changed save for the tightening chokehold the League has her in. The lack of freedom makes her restless, the thought of being put anywhere near a therapist makes her twitch, the very fact that they keep trying to hit her when she's trying to do good makes her think she's making mistakes.[break][break]

But she can't leave. Where does she go if she tries to leave all this behind? The uncertainty of whether she'll ever find herself a new place to call home scares her far more than the pain they try to inflict on her.[break][break]

Crimson eyes flit to Isaac when he speaks, her attention focused on his words whilst she tries to guide her gaze towards the ocean. A whirlpool? While she might not have the answers to this question, the instinctive reaction that she and Reiner share is more than enough.[break][break]

They turn on their heels, readily walking away from the approaching danger.[break][break]

Isaac's voice was gentle, just as it was when he caught her trying to scrape her Chu-e Choi assigned vegetable into Watson's bowl. He knew in this situation, he was kind of her warden. He fucking hated that fact. However, the alternative was confinement, and he knew such confinement was just going to set her healing back further. Freedom had been denied of the girl for so much of her life, and to her each faction dealt in it with matching iron fists.[break][break]

Isaac hoped that the more she played along, the more she'd be given. Trust, after mishap after mishap, wasn't just going to be thrown out without a care in the world. Not after how Eris had already treated her other chances. At the same time, how was Eris supposed to trust them when her side of the deal had already been so cruelly, painfully violated?[break][break]

He wished he could just go back in time and fix all of this before it had started. But how far would he even have to go to set a life like Eris' on the right track?[break][break]

Gently, his hand caught hers. "You've been all cooped up lately, right? All the days blending into each other? Don't tell me after all that, you're just gonna walk away from the first adventure we've seen in Arceus knows how long." So the water went all spinny. So what? "This could be something really cool. Maybe even something nobody else's seen before. Wouldn't that be crazy?"[break][break]

"And if it is something scary, then you don't gotta worry about a thing. 'Cause I'm still here, and I'm only getting stronger, and I'm never gonna let you get hurt. If the boogeyman's coming for you, I'll stare him right in the eye for you and tell him to buzz off, okay?"

"I... guess?" She stops in her tracks, looking to Reiner for a second opinion. And the Luxray merely shrugs in response, clearly ready to go for the adventure if she so wished to. "So we just..."[break][break]

Tightening her grip a little around Isaac's hand, she tugs him towards the water's edge and dares to stare the growing whirlpool dead on.[break][break]

"Iunno, if it's just a whirlpool and all, we shouldn't really be swimming in it."[break][break]

She still remembers what happened the last time a whole group of Hoennians had dared to after all.

"Nah, nah, nah. We're just gonna sit back and shore and watch, yeah?" For now. Maybe if something too cool to ignore happened, they'd get a closer look and start poking around. But that was for later. Thinking for a second, Isaac unhooked his bodycam and handed it to Watson. "Hey, you two stay here for a sec. I'm gonna go grab some ice cream for us."[break][break]

The ice cream stand was right down the shoreline. It was literally within shouting distance. Surely, Isaac could duck away for five minutes to bring them some treats without everything going to shit.[break][break]

[attr="class","inner-finally"]It's both hilarious and sad to her how quickly he catches on and even agrees with her. Or well, it hadn't been meant as a jab at him in particular. She knows of quite a few Hoennians who would dare to hop in if the whirlpool presented enough anomalous activities for them to prod at; Sometimes with a stick, sometimes with their whole hand.[break][break]

"Huh? Oh, sure."[break][break]

In that moment, ice cream doesn't sound like a bad idea - Though she wonders just how many times people have taken her out for ice cream in these past 2 years alone. With Reiner by her side, they can simply just watch the whirlpool and book it the moment they sense anything wrong...[break][break]

But then she hears it,[break][break]

A cry she's heard many a times before in her recurring nightmares.[break][break]

Judging by the way Reiner tenses beside her, he's heard it too. His ears twitch and he nervously paws at the ground, holding back a quiet snarl. The sound, does it originate from the whirlpool itself? If the last time such a thing showed up at the overlapping of various universes, would it be a trip to assume the same thing could be happening here? Or what if she's overthinking it, and there's simply someone on the verge of drowning?[break][break]

No, she shouldn't. She should be staying out of trouble as far as possible.[break][break]

But what if they need help? Who else is there to help them?[break][break]

Bold is the singular step she takes towards the whirlpool, a fist faintly clenched over her heart as she recalls Reiner and calls out a Wishiwashi. They group rather quickly, allowing her to grab on as the school begin to swim for the whirlpool. And right before they reach the edge, she takes a deep breath and the Wishiwashi Dive.

[attr="class","skullbody"]Watson rasped in surprise as Eris, Mrs. "I Am Not Going In That Whirlpool," decided she was going in that whirlpool. He flailed his little arms, trying to snap her out of her trance and call her back to the safety of the shoreline. Perhaps it was futile. By now, the whirlpool was practically touching the coast, far too close for its swirling currents to make any logical sense.[break][break]

Before he could leap forward and grab her hand, Eris was gone. With flailing limbs and a thrashing tail, Watson was pulled beneath the surface to gracelessly follow.[break][break]

Perhaps Isaac shouldn't have been surprised when he arrived with four popsicles in hand, the perfect amount for the nobody remaining on the shoreline to share. "You little shit," Isaac muttered, voice equal point fond, worried, and Tired. "Let the record show that I can't turn my back on any of you for five minutes."[break][break]

Oh well. With the talk out of his system, it was time to take action. Isaac headed over to the whirlpool, fully prepared to see just what was going on with the underwater anomaly.[break][break]

Yeah. No. Nope. Not great. A surge of power seemed to roll out from the whirlpool, forcing Isaac to throw his arms up and shield himself. What the fuck? This was strong. Real strong. He hadn't felt a power and pressure like this since he was on the wrong end of Palkia's Spacial Ren-[break][break]

Ah, piss.[break][break]

Okay. This was okay. He had an idea. By now, he was all too well acquainted with how Hoenn's elite shielded themselves from the ravages of other dimensions. Isaac reached into his Pokeballs and sent out Echo, the ever-loyal Ralts warping him away from the sandy shores. It would likely be baffling to the other beachgoers when they teleported back, Isaac now fully clad in a suit of Aggron-patterned armor. It wasn't appropriate beachwear. It was even less appropriate swimwear. But for surviving another dimension? It was just right.[break][break]

Preparing himself for the mother of all cannonballs, Isaac charged down the shore and leaped right into the heart of the whirlpool. Next stop, adventure!

[attr="class","inner-finally"]It doesn't go as expected, there's no person to be found tossed towards the sea floor. Instead, they're met with an explosion of power, their concept of space rended as Wizz's schooling form scatters with the waves. She feels the impact of the rushing currents, feels the air knocked out of her lungs and rushing up her throat -[break][break]

But her next inhale won't be a mouthful of seawater. Instead, she's met with a choking scent of blood, a muffled sobbing echoing in her head marked by whines of pain.[break][break]

She jolts up, crimson eyes meeting the gaze of a rather concerned Luxray. As soon as he notes her attention fixing onto him, he growls, gently jabbing at her stomach before turning around. And when she looks down, she sees that he's done his best at tying the sash of her sygna suit around her waist. All that's left is for her to tighten it, taking a brief moment to activate the sync stone as parts of her attire begin to shift - Whilst not all pieces are present, she at least dons her coat, the tail trailing with her movements as she takes a moment to check her boot buckles.[break][break]

It's like a weight lifted off her shoulders when she stands back up, the initial pressures and nauseating sensations of a spatial anomaly alleviated by the infinity energy that surges through her coat. Since first glance tells her that neither she nor Reiner are suffering from injuries, she has to be on the lookout for danger.[break][break]

At least, that's what she would have told herself if she didn't hear it.[break][break]

"Reiner? Pa? Momma...? Connie... It hurts!"[break][break]

What had once sounded like a hallucination oh so far away suddenly draws closer and when she turns around, she's greeted by the sight of a child hugging her legs in tears. Deep puncture wounds on her shin resemble the bite imprints of a Mightyena, blood dripping nonstop even when she tries her best to hold it.[break][break]

As if those small, fragile hands could ever hope to stop the bleeding.[break][break]

She crosses the threshold in a few strides, dropping to her knees as she digs through her backpack. And with it, she'll call upon a Comfey, her hands full with antiseptic and bandages.[break][break]

"Chloris, help me."[break][break]

The wound is far too deep for basic first aid to do much, but at the very least they can work towards preventing infection. Panic is the first emotion to flicker upon the child's expression, but it grows into a twisted confusion when she spies the Luxray that accompanies this approaching stranger. And it'll blend into a muted trust when Reiner allows her to pull him closer, reciprocating the hug she gives with a low, comforting rumble. Every whimper is gifted a knowing grunt, every tightened grip met with a gentle nuzzle.[break][break]

"Just be brave for a little more, okay? I've got you."

[attr="class","skullbody"]The currents, both between the waves and between dimensions, pounded Isaac with all of their might. Despite all of their raged, they were nothing compared to the stability of his Sygna Suit. Even as his body was thrown around in the raging tempest, he remained unburdened and unbroken. For once, he could finally count on his body resembling his spirit.[break][break]

Nevertheless, the deeper he descended, the greater the pressure became. Soon, Isaac was left gritting his teeth and squeezing his eyes shut, doing everything in his power to resist the force being applied against his body. Echo, who he clutched securely to his chest, forced himself to move. His horn pulsated gently as he brought his Psychic power to bear, unhooking a Pokeball from Isaac's belt.[break][break]

Neo the Aron came out, and with it Isaac's Sygna Suit reinforced itself. Unsynced, it was still powerful beyond the standards of normal armor. However, with Neo and Isaac working as one, his endurance became greater than any mountain. As Neo's stubby feet docked into the holes on the back of Isaac's helmet, the two surged forward in unison, no longer even being moved by the force of the current.[break][break]

They landed like a meteor, rock and stone shattering from the sight of their impact. Luckily, they'd arrived in just the right spot at just the right time. Watson, dazed and disoriented, lay right at the edge of their impact crater. "I got you, buddy," Isaac said, tenderly scooping the Totodile up. Despite his disorientation, he pointed further down the strange undersea chamber they'd arrived in. The familiar sight that awaited there was enough to get a smile on Isaac's face. "I got her, guys," he said, scooping Echo onto one shoulder and Watson onto the other. "Echo, you keep healing Watson up for me, okay? I'll go make sure Eris is okay."[break][break]

"Eris!" Isaac called as he traveled down the chamber, trying to get the girl's attention. Little did he know that he would be in for quite the unexpected response.

Stranger still, it almost seemed . . . echoed? Strange. But everything about the weird underwater cavern they'd fallen into was strange.[break][break]

"It's okay. I'm coming," Isaac repeated, even as the only response he heard was the echo of his own voice against the cavern walls.[break][break]

Finally, he'd arrived. "I don't know where were are, but . . . I'm here. I'm gonna get us out of this, just like I always do. Okay, Eri-"[break][break]

Wait. What? Isaac needed to a do a double take as he saw just who Eris was gingerly wrapping her arms around.[break][break]

In this very instant, there are two of them. On one hand, you have the one that is far smaller, far more disturbed by her wound, far more afraid of what she's going through in that very moment as yet another stranger pops up. On the other, you have the older one, who seems way more concerned about the profuse bleeding than attempting to piece together whether they might be safe.[break][break]

"She got bitten." An attempt to get Isaac Merlo to focus on the problem at hand. "It's pretty deep."[break][break]

It wasn't something she had been able to solve then; The faded scar over her own shin itches at the very sight of this fresh wound. It wasn't something she's capable of solving now, and her lack of knowledge irks her so. And the tears that she sees streaming down her younger self's face, for her to even be hurt like this...[break][break]

She watches as Reiner tries to nuzzle them away, just like he had done all those years before.[break][break]

"Can you search for a way out of here, Isaac?"

Was Eris' Zoroak hurt in the fall somehow? Or was this the many, many alternate universes haunting Hoenn finally rearing their head? Time paradox? Hallucination?[break][break]

Fact of the matter was Reiner was worried, Eris was trying her best to help, and the strange maybe-Eris was hurting bad. The specifics of the situation didn't matter. Isaac was here, and that meant Isaac was helping.[break][break]

"You sure?" Isaac asked as Eris told him how he could best help. "I've got a first aid, and Echo's got Life Dew. I can give you guys a hand if you need."[break][break]

But ultimately, he knew this was Eris' dilemma to face. If she wanted him gone, it was likely so she could process things on her lonesome. Once he'd put his offer out there for Eris to consider, he'd take the hint and go searching for a way out. Naturally, the chamber they landed in seemed like as good of an option as any. They'd descended down through a whirlpool, so sure all they'd have to do was find where water was drippling down. Then they'd be able to escape, right?[break][break]

Nope. Solid stone, as far as the eye could see. "Motherfucker," Isaac hiss-whispered, pressing a hand up against the ceiling just to make sure. "C'mon, guys. We've got a lot of exploring to do . . ."

Things could be processed later. If she has no answers herself, she can't expect much from the littler version of herself. Even without a little help from Reiner, Eris manages to pull her younger self onto the Luxray's back - She's incredibly light... had she once been this light herself?[break][break]

"Where are we going?"[break][break]

Her thoughts are invaded by reality, her only unscarred eye drawn to the watery eyes that her younger self has. That had only ever been a few answers she had hoped to hear in those moments, but so many of them had been crossed out with time and many more would leave indelible marks on her memory if they continued down this line.[break][break]

"We're getting out of here first."[break][break]

"But there's... I- I don't wanna..."[break][break]

"I'll be with you. Reiner will be here with you." It's all she had left then, it's all she'll have left if everyone else leaves her one day. "And your Reiner... is in trouble now, isn't he?"[break][break]

Sniffles are the only audible response she'll get, but she knows just how tightly those fingers will clutch at the Luxray's mane, just how hollow her chest feels just seconds before the anxiety and fear begin stabbing. The group moves in relative silence, following behind Isaac Merlo as he tries to tap at walls and figure things out.[break][break]

"It's very, very scary. But we're gonna try to be a lil' brave, okay?"[break][break]

Because a little brave was all she could be.
