A chilly breeze might just sweep through the cavern, bringing a brief moment of relief that perhaps, there is indeed a way out. [attr="class","skullbody"]Memory lane was a road big enough for two. Isaac's own memories became interlaced with another. A burning hot panic intertwined with his own slow, cold decay, emotional heat shock battering Isaac as he lead the way. The sounds of explosive clashes shattered the silence of his own memories. The acrid smell of blood, familiar in scent but unheard of in quantity, assaulted his nose.[break][break]

Nonetheless, as Eris' navigator and bulwark in equal amounts, he bore the brunt of the onslaught so she wouldn't have to.[break][break]

"C'mon, Eris," he said, looking over his shoulder and flashing her a winning smile. "You know I always end up okay, one way or another." Good? More rarely than he'd like. But okay? He was ths king of okay.[break][break]

"No matter what happens, no matter how scary or unfair it gets, no matter where we end up, I'm always going to be here to help you face it, okay?" His voice was soft, gentle, as sturdy as stone and as strong as steel. "This isn't just armor, you know. Its a promise. From someone who always said the same for me."[break][break]

How Isaac wished she had lived to see it. Despite that, when he wore it, she stopped feeling so far away.[break][break]

With that promise, they'd made it. Space and time unfurled before them, unfurling into a shimmering rift. There was no more time for words. There was no more time for doubts. Isaac offered Eris a gauntlet-clad hand. Perhaps through her, some of his strength and support could reach the Eris of the past.[break][break]

"You don't have to go right away," he said. "But once you're ready, we can take the first step together, okay?"

But he had to play the part of an adult, a big brother that would protect her from harm. At some point along the line, he had given himself that role in her life and she had accepted it.[break][break]

Reiner tugs for her attention, a brief look shared between them as she gently tightens her hold upon his tail. There are many nightmares that plague them, many monsters that she's dressed up within her eyes; All those are nothing compared to the weight of what they're about to stumble into. And without a good grasp on just what might become of Isaac Merlo, she can't afford to place the burden of trust upon him...[break][break]

When she's ready, she'll take his hand, exhaling slow as she begins to lead the way forward.[break][break]
