Theft wasn't her specialty. Doing things quietly was better left to quiet people and Marza was anything but that. So, she could recognize that this was as much a test of her willingness to adjust as it was for the grunt placed under her less than kind wing for that night. Most rocket beasts might have felt such a simple job to be insulting, but Marza had spent the past twenty years doing grunt work. It was a welcomed return.

At the very least the grunt should feel fucking grateful to be stuck with her, as there were beasts far more unhinged than her. She didn't know much about sage morgan , and she generally liked to keep it that way unless the kid did anything to deserve the respect. For now, her job was simply to assist and observe, which was simple enough.

She picked him out through the darkness with some effort. Had he not been betrayed by the moonlight, she might not have even seen him. "Your stealth is admirable." It was hilarious, coming from her, like a rhyhorn in a goddamn antiquity shop. "Are you ready?"

Hearing her voice they turned their attention to her. ”Thanks. I aspire to be a ninja one day so stealth means a lot to mean,” they told her keeping their voice low. They weren’t sure if there were any other people around that could hear them. They didn’t sense the presence of anyone else though, so they figured they were safe enough.

”Yes we should scout first though to see if we need to watch out for anything. They might have a guard,” he said quietly as he peered in the direction the needed to go to get to the department store. If they were smart they would have a guard posted.

If they did have a guard they would probably be posted at the entrance. That was the easiest way in. And wouldn’t require too much work to get to either. Some people would be brash enough to go that way and go for the guard but they would rather not draw attention to themself if the could help it.

Though it was possible the people who owned the jewel was cocky enough to believe they didn’t need a guard. They found that very hard to believe though. Not with the way things were nowadays anyway.[break] Marza Volchitsa

Interesting aspirations. She didn't bother to mention, though she had her own thoughts on the matter. She was a brawler and didn't care or respect stealth practices, but she could see their worth.

"Oh they will," she muttered quietly, looking overhead at the glint of moonlight on metal as the corviknight scouted from above. Kuru had already identified the two sets of guards on the front and rear of the building. There was no telling though how many were within.

"Blueprints have a service entrance on the left side of the building." It probably had a security camera, a guard was unlikely. It was hard to tell so far. She'd done her fair share of breaking and entering though. "I'm here for oversight and review, this is your operation. How will you proceed?" At this rate, she was probably going to have to climb her ass through a goddamn window, great.

The teen didn’t say anything in response to her comment the only indication they gave that they had heard her comment was to turn their head towards her. The fact they would have guards didn’t really surprise them. In this day of age not having guards for important items was just asking for trouble. Basically asking for the item to get stolen.

They followed her gaze to see a Corviknight. If it wasn’t for the moonlight they wouldn’t be able to see it. It was only due to the moonlight reflecting off its wing that they were able to see it. Well they supposed that took care of the scouting part of the mission. Now they wouldn’t have to worry about having to do it themself or going in blind.

”The service entrance wouldn’t be the best idea. It would probably be no better than trying to go through the front door,” he said his voice betraying that he was thinking through everything. The easiest assess point would probably be the roof unless they wanted to try climbing through a window. For someone his size that wouldn’t be difficult but it would probably be difficult for someone like the rocket beast.

The security cameras, if they had any, would be the biggest obstacle to overcome. But he knew a camera’s range could only go so far. So if they just stayed out of range of the camera that was one obstacle avoided. Then that just left the guards to contend with.

The guards were the easiest to get around in his opinion though. ”I would use my crobat to fly over the range of the security cameras and go in through the roof. They never close that door. I’ve noticed with all my years of sneaking around that people don’t think to look up. It’s night and despite the moon it’s dark so people wouldn’t expect someone to be flying around,” he told her though that wasn’t the end of it.

”The problem is is that we wouldn’t know what’s waiting for us inside. Of course that’s true no matter how we get inside,” he pointed out before continuing. ”So I guess we should still be cautious when getting inside in case they also have guards inside.”[break] Marza Volchitsa

Marza could appreciate thorough planning, not that she practiced such. She didn't preach what she didn't do, but she admired it at least. That was the difference between her and someone like this guy. She was all brute muscle — there would be silence, but only after the bloody violence was over and done with. To her, that was satisfying. That was the kind of job that got her blood pumping, this was not. That was alright though. That was the point of these jobs.

"Alright, enough chit chat." They could plan themselves to death and still get nowhere. She nodded and then they were heading out. Kuru would be circling above and would meet them at the chosen entry point. In all likelihood, this would not be a hard job. Security in places like this were chumps, not paid enough to deal with the potential of people like Rocket. If they were a problem, they'd be dealt with. Still, she let the kid take point and lead. Even if she wanted nothing more than to blast through it.

Their first obstacle was a Spearow taking point on the roof. Of course, the guard would be utilizing pokemon to do the heavy lifting while they lazed about. It didn't take much though. Within a split second, the spearow was perched there on alert and then it was gone with a whistle of steel wings and sharp talons. No more than a few drifting feathers left to show that it had ever been there. Kuru deserved a snack anyways. "Alright, you're up, kid."

That was fine with them. They weren’t really one for talking. They had only told her what they had because she had asked. And it was enough of a plan for them to go off of. The teen didn’t have to give her every little detail of their plan to pull it off. They just had to give her enough of it to pull it off.

They could go over the plan until they were blue in the face and still get nothing done. So it was best to just kick things off. Simply nodding they started to kick their plan off once they were given the go ahead. Getting on their crobat after releasing him from the pokeball. They would then rise into the sky until they were over the range of the camera’s before flying to the roof than they would lower themselves to the roof.

As he had expected the door on the roof had been left open. It made them wonder if there just wasn’t a way to close it. Surely not though since the building would start to flood if it rained. Now was not the time to be thinking about all of this though.

Once they were both on the roof they would be able to start on their way down the stairs that led to the roof. Of course he would make sure to be careful.[break] Marza Volchitsa

As soon as he was done with his meal, Kuru swept back down to scoop her up. The corviknight was less kind about how he deposited her on the roof, but she didn’t complain. She followed the grunt, watching him as he worked. He was quiet, which made sense.

It would be fucking sad if he was a ninja that tripped over his own feet. It would be humorous though. The door was left open, which was enough of a glaring access point for her. She made her way down the stairs after him, keeping an eye from the rear as they made it down into the department store. The floor plan would have the prize they wanted not far away.

“You handle the jewel. I’ll handle security.” It would not take long before encountering the first guard, playing on his phone. It didn’t require much for stealth to get behind him. Her arm wrapped around his neck, held there until he went still. Then, she left him dozing in his chair. None the wiser.

To their relief, their partner followed quietly behind them. Something told them that this work wasn't the kind of work the woman was really used to, so they had been a bit worried, not that they would have ever said as much. They knew better than to say that kind of stuff out loud. But thankfully, their worries were unfounded, and moving quietly didn't seem to be too much of a challenge for the woman.

Letting her deal with the guards made things easier for them, so they nodded. They figured out that was the reason they had been paired with her. While they could take someone out of commission if they really had to, their skills relied more on speed than brute strength. Therefore, unless they could catch the person off guard, someone else was better at taking out their enemies.

The first guard was quickly taken out, but then again, he hadn't been a very good one. Seriously, what kind of guard would play around on their phone? It was almost laughable how easy it was for the beast to take him out. However, they remained professional and kept their expression completely neutral as they moved on.

The second guard was more alert than the first. He seemed to be taking his job seriously and was patrolling around. However, he was a bit jumpy, jumping at every little sound and whipping around to face the direction of any new sound. At one point, he even spooked himself by hearing the echo of his own footsteps.

His jumpiness could make things easy or hard, depending on how one saw it. As they waited for Marza to take out the second guard, they took the time to get their bearings.[break] Marza Volchitsa

Stealth might not have been in her nature, but she wasn't entirely incapable of it. It did require some level of adaptability to get where she was as Rocket Beast. Granted, who the hell knew how long she'd be able to hang on to that title. There were plenty of others that would lovingly rip it out of her cold, dead hands.

The second guard was clearly a new guy, as he still gave way too many shits about the job. His nerves jumped, hands dropping to the taser at his belt with every fright. They needed to do some training around here, obviously. If this was the best they could get.

Rolling her eyes, she decided not to make a bigger deal out of this mission than it already had become. Instead, she released toxicroak, which darted forward with enough speed that the guard didn't even see it coming. A quick venoshock and the guard dropped to the ground in a twitchy mess. Whether he'd survive it or not, was hardly her concern. Survival of the strong and all that shit.

Knowing Marza would deal with the guard, they slipped past him when he was distracted by a noise. From the sound, they were sure it was just the air conditioning kicking back on. Seriously, where did they find these two? One who was more interested in his phone and one who appeared to be scared of his own shadow.

As they reached the case with the jewel, they decided not to dwell on it too much. After giving a quick glance to ensure no other guards were nearby, they studied the case. Cheap lock, no alarm. Seriously, the security for the jewel sucked. They couldn't feel bad about stealing it with such poor security.

Eyeing the lock once more, they shook their head. It was a really cheap lock. Picking it would be child's play. Seriously, the lock on their father's office had been way more complicated than this.

Not wasting any more time, they began to pick the lock. Their sharp hearing caught the telltale click before the lock fell into their hand. 'Bingo,' they thought with a smirk, making sure one last time that there was no additional security on the case before opening it.

Looking inside, they saw that the jewel was just nestled in there. Not wanting to take any chances, they took out something of the same weight as the jewel and swiftly switched them. They didn't want to risk the jewel being on a pressure sensor, which was pretty easy to trick.

No alarm sounded, so they closed the case, relocked it, and went back to their partner for the mission. "Got it," they said quietly, showing her the jewel.[break] Marza Volchitsa

"Good," She said, turning to eye the jewel in hand. It appeared to be as entailed in the mission instructions. It did amaze her how people went crazy over a hunk of shiny rock. They were worse than her Corviknight, plucking up anything shiny enough to steal their attention.

"Let's blow this joint." Though she was at least somewhat impressed by the kid's stealth. He'd prove to be a valuable addition to Rockets. Even if he looked not more than a damn toothpick. To each their own. Rocket would be a damn mess if it was just made out of people like her.

With the way cleared for them, their escape would prove uncontested.
