it feels a little odd to have one of his challengers (that beat him) apply to be one of his gym trainers; it still feels odd and it likely will for a while; but he's glad to be working with lam logan.[break][break]

In his mind, applying for a position as a gym trainer is a natural course of action for someone like him, who as it turns out, enjoys matches for the sport of it.[break][break]

If it’s awkward or strange for CIAN MAHER to have taken him on as a member of the gym staff at Rustboro, Lam doesn’t seem to notice or mind. He’s just happy for the opportunity to practice and allow others the window to improve and learn.[break][break]

Plus, no matter the outcome of their match, it was stylistically one he preferred to rest—which spurred his interest in returning to Rustboro in the first place.[break][break]

Assisting the city is a given, and so it falls to them to take up what the rangers can’t…stanky poison types included. His nose wrinkles in distaste on cue. “You and me both, that’s ripe.”[break][break]

That scorbunny is mad cute, honestly.[break][break]

Weirdly enough, Lam does sort of get it. Well, maybe not the scorbunny itself, but the underestimation of most lower stage pokemon. Is that not why his shinx and pidove remain small and cute and fuzzy as well?[break][break]

In fact, said shinx remains waiting in his pokeball—no doubt annoyed to be missing the action.[break][break]

Lumia will do just fine, though. Serious as usual, the xatu waits for the cue, and swoops in behind the little scorbunny, dealing PSYCHIC damage to one of the weezing as it fails to notice their arrival.[break][break]

Panic sets it as it releases a startled, noxious BELCH.

“Lumi, clean up duty!” The ominously silent bird follows in the scorbunny’s wake, eyes still glowing from her prior PSYCHIC influence.[break][break]

Lumi twists in the air, wide wings flapping to kick up a TAILWIND that pushes out the dense layer of POISON GAS. Slowly, it begins to dissipate–revealing what it was that Hopps landed a kick on. [break][break]

The xatu continues to sweep the area to channel the breeze drummed up by her wings in an effort to make the space more tolerable before they can gather up the culprits.[break][break]

He reaches down to pat the little scorbunny on the head before moving to roll one of the koffing among the group.[break][break]

Even Lumi seems to agree with the sentiment as she drifts down to the ground to watch for any lingering clouds of gas.[break][break]

Snorting at Cian’s joke as the weezing and koffing chatter in defeat, he continues to roll away their first delinquent captive.
