Mauville was a changing city.

Jett glanced around, the cracked pavements were the same, the slight tinge of smoke in the air remained the same, the sound of engines roaring, that was the same.

But not the men who rode upon them, he hadn’t seen them before he had come back, but he had seen them now. Orthrus, a new gang that had come into his domain, his ci- No, he was beyond that. That feeling of ownership had gotten stronger, and so he tried to leave this city as much as possible.

But it was his home, the complaints of those who had once been his subordinates had gotten louder and louder. ”I really hate this.” Yet, more than all of that, the thing that annoyed him about the roars of those engines…

Was the motorbike that he dragged, he could ride upon it, but that knocking was too concerning, he looked into the garage that stood before him, his bike in tow, his expression neutral as he walked in.

”Heeey, anyone here? Got a serious knocking problem ‘ere.”

Technically, Marshall was not a mechanic at MAUVILLE MODS & REPAIR. He wasn't even a manager; Orthrus paid someone else to run the day-to-day operations of the garage. No, Marshall's role was overseer. He was the man who dropped by every month to make sure things were running smoothly and business was booming.[break][break]

As it happened, though, he frequented the body shop more often than that. He enjoyed the company of the workers there and the chill atmosphere they fostered. Most of all, though, he liked tinkering with his own motorcycle with all their tools and expertise at his disposal.[break][break]

Marshall was there, his bike raised on a platform, when the stranger rode in with an ominous knocking sound coming from the engine. The noise drew everyone's gaze to the machine.[break][break]

"Hey buddy, what ya got there?" Marshall asked, wiping the oil from his hands on a used rag. His blue eyes scanned the stranger's motorcycle first, then raised to assess the rider himself.

Jett didn’t miss a beat, the person who responded…Looked rough. Not in the unkempt sense, but in that way any lover of bikes could recognize. His blue eyes concealed behind his dark shades looked up at the bike on the platform, well taken care of. ”Few too many journeys in rough areas with this ol’ lass.” He said as he slapped the seat of his bike, a voice filled with mirth.

”Got a bit of knocking in the engine, bet it’s the belt. Had the coolants running, kept it well oiled, only could’ve knocked the timing belt loose, that or the conrods.” He said as he put his hand against his neck, massaging away at it.

Yet all he same, he couldn’t remove his eyes from the guy in front of him.

”Name’s Jett by the way, ain’t seen you around before; or this place much. You guys new here?”

Marshall strode over to the stranger and his motorcycle. "Sounds like you know your way around a bike," he said as he crouched down for a closer look at the vehicle. "You're probably right. We can open it up an' take a look for sure, though."[break][break]

He stood and waved over one of the mechanics who actually worked for the body shop. She hurried over and, after a quick introduction, wheeled Jett's bike onto a nearby platform.[break][break]

"Name's Marshall," the black-haired man said to the newcomer. "And yeah, we're new. Set up shop here a few months ago. You a local?"[break][break]

Jett's name and face were unfamiliar to Marshall. Orthrus' second-in-command had scoped out the biker scene as soon as his gang had arrived at Mauville City two years ago.[break][break]

And since then, he'd remained a regular presence, attending races, advertising the garage, and representing Orthrus at various events.
