there's a bittersweet feeling that comes with the offer.

he feels guilt all of a sudden. though the mind forgets, the heart doesn't in this scenario. he can only smile through it, hoping it permeates through matias, and then him.

"shouldn't it be the other way around?" he says in jest.

out of the two of them, one was the clear victim of emotional distraught.

others would have said that he has an ulterior motive for trying to get to his home. kyle would've agreed, but for a different reason. people make decisions that don't follow logic, and for matias, this was one of them.

"alright." kyle knows he needs this. "you better head home straight after. don't go straight to a bar or something."

he heard his brother does that a lot, and he's not sure if it's a silph thing or not.

he smiles.

"there are things that don't really translate well with words, so i get it."

something bubbles in kyle's stomach. the confident man's awkwardness is felt, and kyle takes a shot in the dark to ease the discomfort of a partner who had been with him for a lifetime.

"...but i can entertain a farewell kiss if you want to."

somehow, he feels it. even if the sensation in his heart was absent, he trusts the recounting of matias. promises are settled on compromises by both parties, and he feels like this is the best terms he can come up with.

the compromise is taken as though it's the only lifeline left to stop him from drowning. he can't decide whether it's kindness, mercy, pity, or something else entirely, but it doesn't matter. the mask he wears holds strong.[break][break]

he reaches for kyle, gentle in the way he holds his partner before kissing him goodbye.[break][break]
